No one is touching Penn State for a long time to come. Much respect to Iowa but its just not going to be close. This comes from a Buckeye.

Been a PSU fan since '74, met coach Ryan at Nationals last year and had a nice conversation with him. Much respect for him. I must say this last match looked like a domination, But in actuality I will say the Buckeyes wrestled a really hard fought match. The Buckeyes have a very bright future. Tom Ryan has some very talented kids in that wrestling room. Being a true fan, do I want to see the Buckeyes beat PSU, Never, but I do enjoy very competitive matches and I love the BIG10. Cael has it going on, that's for sure but you never know with wrestling, anything can happen.

Tom Ryan and John Smith have both had great regular seasons this year. Ryan’s team passes the eye test in every position up and down the lineup

USA wrestling and more Iowa only content. They really dug deep and we got lucky with some Iowa State content not long ago. GROW THE SPORT! LoL

Anything can happen I’m a PSU fan but look what happened to Iowa against Michigan…you always need to be ready Iowa will bring there A game for sure.

@@Shannon-bc7im Im with ya bro. Caused me a state championship because I wrestled not to lose rather than to win. Was too timid in fear of just that happening ... but my point is that anything can happen, but Iowa is not beating PSU.

As a diehard Hawkeye fan since the 80s, I really appreciate this comment. Its tough to always hear the PSU fans talking smack about Iowa and not giving them what they are owed.

I want to preface this by saying I’m not an Iowa fan, but in Tomd defense, what is he to say about anticipated performance against Penn State. I’d like to know how many “reporters” are in the room. My O/U on individual matches won by Iowa is 2….What you say, and who? Does anyone think Tom is on the hot seat?

I hate what Iowa has become under Brands, and I don't hate Tom, I actually like the guy. He reminds me of my HS coach, a lot, but he just is not able to pull in the recruits that Cael is. Until that happens it will be the same story year after year ... or until Cael moves on from PSU, or retires. I am ok with that by the way. I jumped ship when Cael took over and Gable retired.

If you buy a vehicle and the expected quality is no longer there, do you keep buying the same thing? Don't be an idiot. I never proclaimed to be a die-hard Iowa fan. I was a fan of Dan Gable, he is gone. I am now a fan of Cael and what he is doing.

This guy is a bad coach. And for those of you willing to defend him, name 5 wrestlers that have legitimately improved under their time in Iowa. They all get injured or get worse. The only reason they are relevant is their name. Their recruiting is the only thing keeping them afloat. Without that they are nothing. This guy is a clown, and should retire. They are falling off faster than ben askren in the UFC

@@ryan80166 All Brand's cares about is WINNING. Cael works on developing choice young men into examples and leaders. There is absolutely NO comparison. Winning is the result of genuine sacrifice, training and respect for each other, not beating your chest, shouting and bragging. Brands was a great wrestler but he is no coach and no human example to his students.

@danialp3692 it's never a sure thing, that's why they wrestle the match, if penn state was unbeatable there would be no need to have the dual, it's like when Mike tyson seemed unbeatable, a fat buster Douglas comes by and knocks him out when it was "certain victory" for tyson, if anyone can show up and beat Penn state it's Iowa led by the brands, probability is obvious, penn state wins, especially at the heavier weights, but Iowa has some hammers at lighter weights who can make this a match rather than a foregone conclusion, and further I'd say it's disrespecting all the young men at Iowa who work harder than you can imagine, a younger team than penn state who's sending out 5th or 6th season seniors, I used to idolize Cael, now he seems to be all about winning no matter how it's done, when I thought it should be for the love of the sport...the competition. Not how to dominate to increase one's salary...I give Iowa a chance. I rarely write off wrestlers of this caliber...bc they are full of surprises...

Sports competitions are scheduled and then held regardless of if the match will be competitive. This match will not be competitive. I give credit to brands and his team theyre doing their best. I also credit brands for not selling his soul over the Ferrari’s. Both coaches are class acts, doing it the right way.

Buster Douglas was not fat when he koed Tyson. He was in great shape! If they keep score, it's all about winning.

I don't get your statement, 'I used to idolize Cael, now he seems to be all about winning no matter how it's done'. That's the reason they keep score and rankings and unless you are trying to imply he is doing something against the rules he can do it any way he sees fit. Sounds like a lot of sour grapes. PS: every wrestler works hard and no one is taking anything away from Iowa wrestlers we are just saying they are not in PSU's league. And if they are they can prove it Friday.

Dude, you are clearly a Penn State hater if not then you’re not real smart .the reason the best guys in the country want to wrestle for Sanderson is because they know that they can reach their potential that way, so what’s he supposed to do tell him that he doesn’t want them on his team ?you better check the lineup because there are three freshman and one sophomore in the starting lineup Maybe you should start watching another sport because Penn State isn’t going anywhere anytime soon . Mike Tyson lost to Buster Douglas because he didn’t have the right people in his corner for that fight. A lot of college wrestlers don’t have the right people in their corner.

Brands sucks. He’s an angry, spoiled child trying to make it in a game that has passed him by. Elite wrestlers no longer want to wrestle for him. Iowa needs to start looking for a new hc.
