Props to wrestlers man deadass no joke. I play rugby lol tried wrestling my sophomore year . The thing I hated the most besides practice, was cutting weight. Wrestling ain’t no joke.
Add to that, Grapplers in general. As someone who started wrestling at 6 years old through high school and now moving onto other forms of Grappling, I think that Judo and Jiu Jitsu have a place in this conversation.
Bob Rosser if you truly believe football is in the same echelon as wrestling you are truly mistaken. Time and time again I have seen football players get absolutely manhandled in wrestling practice and live go’s. There is room for discussion on the point of boxing though.
Man, revisiting these work outs makes my lungs and legs hurt... 4 years of wrestling, and if there's one thing I remember from my coach, it was this: Practice doesn't end until everyone has thrown up at least once.
Lol! That was the game. First one to throw up was a pussy, but even the track kids knew they were gonna be tossing their lunch before practice was done. The coach made a not to ensure each and everyone of us threw up. Be it running stairs, burpies, stripes, halls, or the kids just shoved their own fingers in their mouths to make it stop. All of us emptied our stomachs. I remember my sophomore year, we all wanted to see how long we could keep practice going, see if we could make the coach give up before we did. 5 hour practice from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm because the fucking 120 pounder refused to give the coach the satisfaction... for 4 hours and 59 minutes. Ever seen a guy run stripes and have to do ten push ups at every interval? Just watching it made me wanna puke.
Lol, don't be. That coach quit my sophomore year, got a new coach for jr and sr year, and the new coach was nothing in comparison. No one threw up, only half the kids quit (as opposed to 70% as was the norm) and barely any of us went to state.
Lol I just wear long sleeve shirts and pants, and by the time practice is over I’m drowning in sweat. I can’t see how you’re able to manage a hoodie in practice
5 Days? Wow, that’s pretty grueling. I remember going to a U of I wrestling camp years ago (3 days?) when Gable was the coach and guys like Barry Davis were showing us moves. Pretty awesome experience when you’re a 14 year old kid.
My university doesn’t offer wrestling nor is there any wrestling clubs outside of it other then BJJ but it’s expensive. I found some wrestling programs online and did some research on the sport. After marathon I’m gonna give the wrestling program a try for 6 months. Anyone who’s in wrestling is a STUD!!!!
Rugby is a team sport. Wrestling is not. Wrestlers are the worlds toughest athletes because of THAT pressure alone. No discussion. No weight cutting in rugby. Weight cutting in wrestling. No discussion. Boxing and other combat sports like judo compare. But you can stall in both Wrestling - you cant. END OF DISCUSSION
Like this will help them! 5 days ain't doing shit! Only to those people that are shit right now can improve but the people that are experienced with good stamina will get nothing out of it
