Thanks to the video I see the flooding is turning into a mel of a hess. Folks here in Norfolk NE are enjoying 95+ degrees. Out for a while to attend a meeting at the Vet's Home, the sunlight was starting to burn my 85 year old skin. Out of the sunlight, with very low humidity, it's not that bad. I have nothing to complain about, but my heart is aching for what's happening in western Iowa. Have a care in your travels, be well.
Because of your coverage of the disastrous flooding there in Iowa…I have donated to the Red Cross to help victims there. My heart goes out to them and I will pray for help
Kurt prayers for all the flood victims. Load up some of that water and bring it to North Carolina because we sure are dry. Another great video Kurt . Thanks for sharing
Keep doing what your doing my friend. I do work for a company that delivers all over Iowa very sad to see these small towns get flooded. Love your vids my friend!!
Happy Anniversary!! Great advice you gave on staying away from the flooded areas. Unfortunately, many stupid folks with no common sense will go and create additional problems. I like your videos.
Prayers to all of you in the Midwest. Between tornadoes and other bad storms, you now have flooding! I live in Washington State on the eastern side and we are finally getting warm. Did have a severe thunderstorm last Tuesday with dime-sized hail and a lot of rain, then yesterday we had 50+ mile an hour winds all day and I drove home from a family reunion in the wind storm. Thought I was going to blow off the road a few times! The 2011 Toyota Venza handled better than my old Rendezvous did in the wind.
Every time I see this happen my instructor's words from an Ag class echo over and over in my mind "Do not build on flood plains" and it saddens me that cities and towns continue to allow people to build on flood plains, and our federal government continues to provide flood insurance for those that do - as if that minimizes the loss. There is nothing worth building on a flood plain. There is nothing worth losing to a flood. It's so disappointing. *SMH* Thanks for the informative video. Prayers to all those affected.
I see this so clearly myself. It's so dangerous is my issue. Not to mention the contamination of the water when it floods, which is actually another danger in itself.
I came down 29 in Sioux City yesterday from Sioux Falls and they were putting up the signs as I was driving by, the river was very high, I live in Salem SD, and we got flooded too, I'm still not done cleaning up but had to take a load to Oklahoma. Also heard on the news that the army corps of engineers is trying to hold back on dumping water from the 5 damns we have in South Dakota on the Missouri river, if they do Sioux City will be a major mess, Happy Anniversary to you and your wife and look forward to some more videos on the floods. Stay safe
We were out there this last weekend and its bad. Gettin to apple river last thurs was rough. Had very long around detours. River runnin fast, rain and sprinkles all weekend till we packed to leave yesterday, sunny blue skies, warm, so nice, and easier gettin back home. Yall be careful and cautious over there
I live in SW Minnesota and the rivers in my area are the Redwood, Cottonwood and the Desmoines(sp). We haven't had any rain for a few days but cross the Redwood every day. A lot of field water still draining in it yet and this river is still going up. The same with the other rivers. All of that water will be moving south and now it's supposed to start raining here in about an hour with heavy rains tonight. This mess is far from over
I'll definitely be praying for those affected by the flood. Plus pray for the truckers who are like you said Schmidt, "beside themselves."❤❤ God bless the beautiful state of Iowa. My mom's side of the family were from that awesome state
Happy Anniversary to you and Sarah! Sending thoughts and prayers to everyone dealing with the floods. Been there in MO back in 1993 and again in 2015, so I know its no fun.
Thanks for your video. I am from Sioux City originally. Live in Omaha. Prayers to you and all surrounding areas. I saw video of north Sioux and lake over off north shore. Crazy. Prayers to you guys
I'm sorry to hear and see videos of the awful flooding that's going on.. hope and pray everyone will be safe...❤... I remember about the floods of 1993... I wasn't in it ,but heard a lot about it 😮
My brother got ten feet of water in his yard this past may. It's really hard to grasp how much water that is unless you experience it, and still you get left awestruck after the damage. Thanks for the video. My prayers be with all involved.
Been through some flooding in 2008. That was a big one for north, central and south in Iowa. Mason City, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City got some major flooding. It took 10 years for FEMA to help with all the claims. It has been 16 years when that happened. Glad your mom and dad made it back home alright!
Those floods are bad but we are used to that the stink and mess they are going to need a lot of help when the water recedes the mud and filth I'm praying for everybody hope mapleton stays dry
Midwest taking a beating lately. Used to be mostly tornado threats. Hurricane season just started this month with eight named storms predicted to make landfall. Worst thing about it is even here in Florida the frequency of tornadic activity has increased. Used to run otr thru both tornado belts and it was always my biggest concern especially at night.
Dang I miss riding. On another note, used to live in St. Louis and 1993 was a mess. We had some floods since then as well. One the water was up in the park, made from the flood of ‘93, across the street from us. We lived near the Mississippi then and in May of 207 almost didn’t make it out of the St.Louis area when we moved here as 44 was closed as wet highways down south in Arkansas which is the way we went. Had to take detours at that. Stay safe up there.
It's been flooding in Iowa for years. I remember when The Cedar River use to flood 4th Street in Waterloo Iowa. Still can't believe people are playing in that nasty water.
If I can ever get Goliath fixed and out of this truckstop in New York, I have to head that way. I’m trying to figure out where all the stuff is happening so I can plan around it. I hear the Minnesota is pretty bad as well so I don’t know that just taking 90 across is a good idea.
Us service people are not happy either. I service 35 counties in the NW tri-state. Not everything is marked and no clear detours, and no apps that are updated live.
I am from Nashville tn, we had a terrible flood in 2010, I myself got flooded out in 2019, my cup was right from 2010 flood, insurance comp said not a flood, you have a drainage problem, no pay, I will pray guys, birthing pains
You making me nervous showing the devastation in those towns. I have a habit of eating and I just can’t shake that habit. I have a fear of not being able to fulfill my needs in the future, like in a few months! I hope we can recover and maintain the country. I live in the “breadbasket” of the world and I see what is produced here and shipped every where world wide. As far as the traffic, they do the same thing when it snows. Interstate 5 from the Central Valley to Los Angeles is either open or closed. No chains ever allowed over the grapevine. You can go to the coast and travel up and down California, but you have to plan ahead, otherwise you end up backtracking. Drivers have trouble accepting that the road is closed.
