I'm guessing the reason why injecting voltage before or after the coil makes it difference is because the coil can take the load. Very informative video Thank you so much.

A coil is basically a very thin wire, and the part that gets hot is always the component with the highest resistance. So if the short on the capacitor is really low resistance, the coil might be higher resistance and thus taking most of the power that is being injected. Injecting after the coil means the coil is no longer part of the circuit and the component with highest resistance is now the shorted cap

Yes, I believe it too because the short is not so "strong" so the coil resistance would absorb the heat.

One of the trickiest things for me in those repairs is to know where to inject voltage. That's why you need experience. The thermal camera is a K9 but you need and one trained officer to complete the job. Well done!

I have a question. Is it okay to let the capacitor unreplaced with a new one? I mean, there's no caps there after removing it, but does everything works fine even without it?

It's gonna work fine. There is optional capacitors to that can take over the functions of the removed one. Redundancy. If one fails then another one can take over

bypass caps, it's okay if you remove one, there's plenty on board

No. It's not. While I agree with others on the bypass redundancy part where the absense of one cap will not cause the device to stop working, you have to understand that the capacitor at that location is there for some purpose. If it's presense or absense doesn't make a difference, manufacturer would have done without it.

@@Wingedmechanic They are very important as they acts as a kind of energy reservoir. If the input voltage drops, then a capacitor will be able to provide enough power to an IC to keep the voltage stable. Otherwise, the IC could end up in the unstable state.

Would this be the same with a samsung note 9 a problem on the board , because the battery is not connected and it's getting 0.02 then 0.05 on the amp meter or could this be a charging port problem

I laughed when you showed what the customer sent versus what they included in their comments. Ipads are not cheap devices so they haphazardly sent you two of them and a screen and didn't even mention it. If they care enough about them to want a repair, why didn't they explain what the hell they shipped? Makes no sense. I only sent one device (hoping we see it here someday) but I included a whole sheet of notes. I try to put myself in the shoes of someone who has just opened the box and has no idea what the device needs. Why not try to help? I might be wrong. But I can try.

I suggest you when when you inject voltage, do it in a way you inject higher voltage but less amperage.The high amperage is that one that can do damage so i sugesst you not go with amperage higher than 2 amp. And mostly mosfets and diodes open when they get more than 2 volts, 1 volt wont open them
