Interesting option. Love the pencil holder and the fact you are not restricted to landscape mode. Only downside is it’ll not work very well on your lap but otherwise looks like a real alternative at a much better price.

Looks nice, but as others have said, I use the Logitech Touch Combo. The main selling point for me is the Smart Connector compatibility, no need to go through a pairing process is nice. Still it also detaches and I like the soft material it’s made of. Plus the top row of function keys is a must have for me at this point.

I'm torn between these two. The deal breaker for this one is the need to charge and pair via bluetooth and lack of magnet when closing. The deal breaker for the Logitech Combo is the lack of pocket/strap to keep the pencil in place and I don't like the grey silicone part of the case.

With the Bluetooth and therefore capacity to use when detached this might well be a Logitech Combo Touch killer too! That’s been my choice but being able to detach and use the keyboard is so useful

I think the Benks items are really good, I have the iPad pencil and Max headphone stand as recommended by yourself,,,,,however I choose the Magic Keyboard by apple over this benks offering as I like the simple on/off magnetic placement on the apple keyboard, makes life a lot easier for me at least as I like to change the folio options. all the best.

This is just like samsungs official keyboard cover case. Brilliant. I cant imagine not having a place for the apple pencil. Esr makes a pretty darn good 360 keyboard case as well.

Hi that cover is very close to what Samsung offer it splits apart and pen slot area which charges and keeps your pen safe at the same time , please do a review on the Samsung tab 8 + then you would see the similarities thanks

Had the Logitech version but it did not work out for me. Use now the Slim Folio keyboard, Even its missing a trackpad but its soo much lighter and slimmer. Works best for me still…

I really want to see how fast does it detect the letters when you are typing. That's the main purpose of me buying a keyboard for an iPad. I want to use it for document typing. Not to replace my Macbook, but my job requires me to type out documents and most of the times, I don't bring my Macbook because the size is quite big compared to iPad which is only 11 inches. If you can show us, will you? Please?

Yes it creates a grainy image quality which you’ll notice at the beginning but afterwards you get used to it

i just bought this keyboard case and i have to say the factionality that provides is really good. the keyabord is great and the materials are good but not even close to magic keyboard.. also the trackpad is really bad almost unsble not all the gestures work and is really glitchy. Apple dont really like thrid partys so is not all benks fault.

I watch your videos almost continually. I need to get a life! However, I also need to get a keyboard for my iPad Pro 12.9 and I can’t for the life of me figure out how I can get around the magnets. I have a pacemaker and magnets are a no no with pacemakers and though I keep my iPad Pro and my phone and other Apple products that I have a way for my pacemaker the keyboard will be a problem. Do you know of any good keyboards for the iPad Pro fifth and 4th Generation.? I have both don’t ask me why but I do. I really would love to hear from you ASAP because I just got the iPad Pro fifth generation and I haven’t taken it out of the box yet. Regards and thank you

I ended up returning mine. I felt like it was rubbish. Not a huge fan of the way. The typing experience felt to me. I much prefer the Logitech keyboard, so I ended up buying a logitech and keeping the Magic Keyboard in my eyes and best of both worlds for me. Your mileage may vary.

I use the Logitech Touch Combo. Again a lot cheaper than the Magic Keyboard. It has illuminated keys, detachable and long battery life. Around £144. Also don’t need to Bluetooth pair. Cons: no holder for Apple Pencil, or vertical orientation. Also makes iPad heavier.

1. Does not have backlit keyboard 2. Does not close snug, the top and bottom pieces are loosely coupled … you get what you pay for I guess. A much better alternative to both is the Logitech touch combo case at $194.

I have the magic keyboard for my 2020 iPad Pro, and it’s great, there’s just one thing missing for me that’s annoying and which you alluded to in your video, it lacks a flap at the top to keep the pencil securely in place, and the pencil falls off, a lot! This annoyed me so much that I just made my own flap out of very strong black Velcro pieces which I bought from Amazon for less than £3. It sounds like a terrible idea but it’s actually great in the execution - it looks very neat if you do it right, and works perfectly. The Velcro back adhesive is very strong as is the Velcro itself, and the flap does a fantastic job of keeping the pen very secure. It doesn’t look at all like a natural part of the keyboard, but rather like some peripheral bought separately, which I suppose it is, just home made. Might be a bit Blue Peter DIY, but jobs a good’n IMO..!

Looks promising, but two questions. How is the trackpad, and are there volume control keys? I love my magic keyboard but the lack of volume control keys is very frustrating. I bought another brand through Amazon which had volume control keys, but the trackpad left a lot to be desired compared to the magic keyboard. Thanks for the review!

I tried it and ultimately ended up sending it back because of the track pad. I found the input to be laggy, and it wouldn't smoothly switch been screens using multi-tough gestures. They keyboard and overall feel of the case was good though, but the track pad was ultimately too much to overcome.

I believe that the paper like texture screen protector is more meant for digital artists. It makes the drawing experience more comfortable with a non glaring screen. Glares are so much awful to deal with when drawing and putting the artist in so much pain just to look at the screen when the lights is on the screen. It makes the screen matt, which artists love over having a glossy screen. I love my paperlike screen protector. It reminds me of my pen and display drawing tablet or any other drawing tablet in general.

@@VrVeggie124It is true, but it will take quite a while if not too rough with the pen. I mean, in one year, I changed only one nib for my first pen and display tablet that has the same texture than the paperlike screen protector. Except that on the pen and display tablet, the paper texture comes from the screen and it can be scratched with a broken nib. A broken nib can look very normal in appearence, but the sound it makes on the screen is what let you know when to change the nib. I’m pretty sure that the paperlike screen protector won’t break the nib in less than a year.

Mark, I love your channel but not this keyboard case. I ordered and used the Benks keyboard on your recommendation and it has been a disappointment in the long run. I loved it at first, but after less than a year, two keys are falling off and the edges are fraying. Won't be looking at Benks again.

Mark, always watch your videos reviews etc. However I am a little disappointed with this one. I should have realised from the beginning when you said they send you one for free and they were sponsoring this video. This product has been discontinued ? ok not your fault, but makes one think ? why? could it be all the issues they have been having? Just placing an order based on your video , I am thinking have I lost my hard earned cash. OK you did not hold a gun against my head, but I ordered from a place of trusting your review.

Thanks for the comment. Happy to explain, and the answer might help your son as he makes his way into the world. Mark Ellis Reviews is a business. Everything you see on the channel has been bought through the business (bar the gear that is sent to me by brands as review units). These assets reside on the business balance sheet and I view them as investments in my ability to create content. Many get used several times over in different videos and blog posts and, therefore, quickly deliver positive ROI when linked to ad, sponsorship, and affiliate income. The reason my business can afford to invest in these assets is because I've built healthy cash flow and profitable income through an immense amount of hard work. It's a wonderful industry to work in if your son is thinking about it, but the effort, blood, sweat, and tears required to get here shouldn't be underestimated.

To be fair, most of the good tech channels are based outside of the U.S. but have mostly US viewers. MKBHD is one of the only US based tech reviewers. LTT? Canada. Mr whose the boss is uk as well, but guarantee mostly us viewers.

The majority of my audience is in the US, I'm afraid, Andy. And if you watch regularly, you'll spot that I am testing both currencies. But you have to draw a line somewhere (I also have UK-sized audiences in countries with the EUR, and several other currencies). This ain't easy, buddy ;)

Thanks for the review Mark. I was looking at a iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard to replace my (constantly crashing) MacBook Air. This would certainly help with affordability. A fairly basic question (just didn’t want to assume): if the keyboard is Bluetooth, could it also be used with an AppleTV? (Could be useful for my indoor cycle training setup).
