06:44 Discussing Bellemond Matte Film's issues
Digital pens and pencils on many tablets sometimes show a jitter or wobble, a very small wiggle, when making diagonal lines. Wacom and Apple are two of the best at reducing it when using default hardware. Adding any screen protector exacerbates the wobble.
Solutions:
Don't use tempered glass.
Use procreate streamline and stabilization.
If you don't want matte, find a PET film protector that isn't matte.
Don't use any screen protector at all.
Hardware used:
Ipad Pro 2021 M1 12.9" and apple pencil 2
Head shots filmed with Lumix GF3
Lines filmed in 4k with OnePlus6
Audio-Technica AT 2020USB

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I recently bought an iPad and was really worried that something was wrong with it - but now I think it’s just the glass screen protector I’d like to add a tip here: for those who can’t take the screen protector (like me, cuz I’m really scared of breaking something haha-crying), try setting just a little bit of Motion Filtering in the Pressure & Smoothing prefs in Procreate 0.1% was enough to get rid of pretty much all my wavy lines, as long as I'm not drawing very slowly And yes, you still can feel the difference drawing, specially in circles or very curved lines But, from my experience, it’s just a little bit, and you eventually get used to it. Well, that’s it! Once again, thank you for the video! I hope this tip may help someone else too

I bought an iPad a couple of days ago and I was wondering which one to get. I heard matte ones decrease the screen quality and adds some sound to it which i really dont want since I'm going to use the tablet for gaming and school work as well. So from your experience if we increase the accuracy little bit more, the wobbly lines kinda disappear? I would be so glad if you could answer 🙏
@donodoted
@donodoted 9 месяцев назад
@@foxypinky1317 Hi! From my experience, increasing the Motion Filtering setting in Procreate just a bit is enough to get rid of most wobbly lines - specially if you draw quickly (drawing slower makes them more visible again) I hope this helps! Sorry, I couldn't find any conf with "Accuracy" as its exact name, but I think the Motion Filtering is the closest thing to it If you're using other apps than Procreate, look for stabilization settings, it may help.

I've heard some people complain about the tooth the Bellemond screen has, saying it has too much texture and wears down the pencil. I was interested when you said you couldn't imagine it wearing out the Apple Pencil. I'm assuming it all comes down to how hard each person presses on the screen, though I'm still looking for a screen protector and haven't tested it out for myself. i have cheap matte screen protector on my 10.5" ipad pro with 1st gen pencil, and there is no wobble at all, but i got an ipad mini 6 with 2nd gen pencil and it seems more sensitive to screen protectors. tempered glass and the magnetic bellemond definitely makes wobbly diagonal lines. Honestly the biggest issue is Procreate's particular style of smoothing. Inking with it can be a nightmare, especially if your lineart leans on the thinner side. I just got the Clip Studio Paint Ex, and I love it. Though I still slightly prefer how brush textures look in Procreate, so I'm hoping that someday they redesign the stabilizer from scratch

Definitely not enough to compensate. Plus stabilizers are a bit annoying to draw with on strong settings anyway, it's like drawing with a ball and chain, the lag isn't enjoyable. I tried to find non matte PET film but failed in Canada, it exists though. Maybe on usa Amazon you'll have some luck.

Oh you wonderful person. I saw your vid a few weeks ago where you recommended Bellemond. I had already tried three different screen protectors, not paperlike because it is so expensive and got mixed reviews. None of the screen protectors, all matte, really got rid of the jitter of the Apple Pencil. I was way skeptical that Belmonde would help. But you looked so sincere so I decided to go ahead and buy it. You’re right, it is an amazing screen protector! Suddenly I was easily able to draw things that were very frustrating before. So thank you. And I have a question. It may be that no one has the answer. But just in case… If the screen protector is on the iPad, then obviously we can’t put on a blue light emission protector film over that. And I have heard the blue light blocking glasses aren’t terribly effective. Since people spend hours daily with the iPad, do you have any suggestions?

@@hackynat4481 some people seem to be doing just great with their matte screen protectors that didn’t work for me. As for blue light, I’m sorry I bothered you. I did more research and it seems that concern about blue light is a bunch of hype. There’s far more blue light in sunlight, for example, then there is coming from a computer screen. Further, there is zero evidence that blue light glasses actually I have any benefit at all. So we can use our iPads all we want! But if you want to cut out blue light you may or may not know that there are settings on the iPad and computers for what they called night shift. Though it is not apparently harmful to the eyes, it does seem to upset circadian rhythms if you were looking at it at night.

I'd imagine that would be even worse for wobble.

I’m going insane with my screen, idk what’s wrong with it, I have no screen protector, it has a small crack down it, it’s bent a bit because of the damned heat or something and whenever I’m trying to draw, when I try to zoom in our out or move around with two fingers it sometimes presses the backspace button for me when I don’t want it to, when I wash my hands it works fine for the most part so idk if it’s my screen being dirty or not, I am really stressed about this so can anyone give me answers please? Is there something I don’t know
@hackynat4481

It's a lot of variables at play there... Cheapest variable to eliminate is maybe try a drawing glove? It could be doing a bag job of palm ignoring, a glove would solve that. Or it's the crack. Or it's the bend. Both much more expensive to fix lol.

do the bellemond wear down the pencil like paperlike?
@chepchmakw
@chepchmakw 2 года назад
paperlike is a sandpaper :/
@hackynat4481

I've been using it for 5 months and haven't noticed any wear down. I would definitely not call it sandpaper. Not glossy obviously, maybe more like skin lol.

If I use matte..should I put pencil nib?
@hackynat4481
@hackynat4481 2 года назад
I'd say it wouldn't be necessary, but you can always try it out. If it's to protect the pencil tip, I'd say unnecessary with the bellmond anyway, I've noticed no wear down.

Maybe the plastic ruler is knocked
@hackynat4481
@hackynat4481 2 года назад
I used the same ruler for all 3 screen setups and each gave different results, so it's unlikely the ruler. Also got the same wobble in freehand tests.
@dpptd30
@dpptd30 2 года назад
You shouldn’t use the ruler to test straight lines, the ruler messes up the pressure sensitivity of the Apple Pencil, and make it wobble.
@hackynat4481
@hackynat4481 2 года назад
I thought that might be the case which is why I included freehand tests. However if it messes it up, it still doesn't mess up on the bare screen.

I have had exactly the same experience replacing multiple screen protectors and losing a lot of money. The only perfect situation is bare ipad screen.

I have the same ipad. Never used a protector. I also had an ipad 8th gen and didn't use a protector on that one either. There's just no other way to get the best drawing experience.

@@yamapishy9792 Thanks for the info, how is the screen holding up after drawing on it over time? It should be just fine right? With these expensive devices and apple pen. without any protectors.

@@Imbalina yep. If you're ipad is in a casing you should be fine. Maybe invest in a shockproof casing if you always bring your ipad outdoors.

Youre iPad Touch Grid is only Horizontal and Vertical. The Screen Protector makes it worse, buts its just how screens are. To avoid this, rotate your canvas to make all diagonal lines on the vertical or horizontal grid on your screen.

Absolutely, when making all straight lines. Gets tricky when making curved lines obviously.

What about drawing a circle? With glass screen protector jitter problem prevents you from drawing a perfect shape. Also it has impact on your handwriting.
