So....Jason, my daughter (13 nearly 14) needs a new phone to replace her ageing Samsung S7 edge. Unfortunately she has been brainwashed into thinking Apple=cool at school 😂, would you recommend this over a pixel 4a or 4a 5g for example. Based on UK prices 4a is £319, 4a 5g is £499 and iPhone 12 mini is £699. Anything else you’d recommend?
What is the gamepad called which you use at 3:50? Additionally is its d-pad any good. Good review by the way. I like your voice. It's very calm, soothing and pleasant to listen to. Your content is good too. I like how you talk about one hand navigation but also demonstrate it in the video with several different circumstances so the viewers can get a good comprehension of how usable it really is. cheers.
@@CL-zm2pq Its not a phone for people using it all day or it will last barely 1 day. Otherwise for some calls some text messages and some internet. it can last 3 days. It is possible easily. I had a Huewei P8 lite battery is better on the 12 mini.
I love how people are like “this phone is so small” or “it’s too tiny” like phones didn’t start off smaller than this. It’s not too small phones now are just TOO big
@@josegoncalvesdias3242 that’s just screen size the older iPhone design also has a huge chin your pinkie would rest on bringing your hand further down and larger side bezels not allowing for you to fully loop your fingers around the device and it also had a forehead symmetrical to the chin making it seem much larger
So many worry about the battery life. I have watched loads of these iPhone reviews and settled on the white mini. I have had it for two days now and I love it. Today it was on 100% charge this morning. I have used it periodically through the day to view email, linked in messages, texts, what’s app and the news. I have been using it solidly for an hour this evening and by 8pm tonight it was on 74% battery. Hope that helps anyone out there wondering. I bought the Apple California Poppy case, it looks great with the white camera poking through.
Very nice I’m sure the colour combination looks amazing. I’m a little worried about battery to be honest I’m coming from a iPhone XS so it’s two years old I’m not happy with the battery at all. Thanks for the insight, that makes me feel a lot better about the battery. 🙋🏻♀️
Sorry one more thing I’m back and forth about getting the black mini or white one. Black is classic always looks nice but the white would go with more cases. 🤷🏻♀️
Mine 12 mini lasts 3h SoT from 100% to 20%... I have no idea how yours lasts this long with 74% left. My % runs out very quickly, for example now I watching netflix and in 10mins 5% disappeared (Wifi, 30% brightness).
The fact they can get a different phone every other week or so must play a role in how they see things. I want to know what their daily driver is two months from now.
I went from an iPhone X to the mini and I’m loving it. At first it was awkward and was thinking I made a mistake but fear not after only a few days of use I’m in love. Never going back to a larger phone.
I feel your pain bro! 12 mini is awesome but the price tag isn't lol At 700 bux it may be the cheapest of the 12 line-up but that's still a lot of money for a lot of people. The SE 2020 is a solid iphone, But it's old hat to the 12 mini 😔 "Take your broke ass home" or "Get a better job you bum" is the usual replies you can expect from those people who have lost all perspective of life lol
I agree you shouldn’t feel bad Se you now have a phone that works with a mask. And to me that’s definitely worth it. Face ID sucks right now thanks Apple
@@Paa375 I even contemplated on getting the SE bc of touch ID. Sucks balls that apple didnt integrate a finger print sensor during this pandemic -.- Ill probably go 12 mini or regular 12 and upgrade to an iphone pro next year. Iphones of this gen are really waaaay to similar one to another featurewise.
ok forget about the iphone, your review was crispy asf 👌 videography, lay out, presentation, accuracy, informative was just hella spot on. Keep it up man you’re great at what you’re doing
I’ve had mine for about 3 days and already love it, especially in dark mode (which looks stunning but also saves battery life) and with a random kickstand case I got on Amazon, which makes it really functional and even further improves the look of it. Great review/update!

I’ve had mine for almost a month and it’s so great! It’s compact but has great speed and picture quality. The only downfall is the battery but you’re likely to be on your phone less than the average user if you’re aiming for a smaller phone. I couldn’t be more satisfied! People make fun of it for its size but I think it’s a step in the right direction for apple with variations in choice.
@@JSLReview its just fabulous just in india it cost me around 74900 and its too much high but size of my hand is small so its just perfect with all the features in small box body❤️
Bought this last week. My first ever smartphone! I've been resisting an upgrade for decades, using Nokia 3310 and similar 1990 phones. So using the iphone 12 mini as you can imagine is like stepping out of the dark ages. Don't tell anyone but I love this phone!
I’m finally up grading to 12 mini from SE 2016 which I’ve had for 4 1/2 yrs. plus I love the blue. Data transfer is been done now as I write this. Finally a small phone that closely matches my SE, with the best internals to date.
I’ve had the 5, 5S and now SE... so I love that size... To me, a phone is a phone... I already have an iPad, a 15” Mac and 17” Mac Pro... so the 12 Mini would also be my “go to” iPhone !!!
No one ever tests ANY fundamental functions of the iPhones. No RU-vidr reviewer ever tests/compares signal strength, call quality, drop calls vs other models... Its always about the camera or the screen or something else that has nothing to do with it being a phone. These are big factors that matter first and foremost. Not everyone lives in large metropolitan area with a cell tower every 10 square miles. I work at a national park and there aren't that many cell towers to cover the entire area. I setup and distribute about 25 iPhones every year to employees. Much of the time there is only about 2 bars of signal strength. How well the phone can it function for data and call quality at low signals is a big deal. Especially since many of these phones go to law enforcement staff. Just my 2 cents.
But way better than 5s. In fact, my friends from Romania are owners of Samsung and IPhone 6s and my Cambodian friend has 5s. Honestly, they are so jealous of me getting the 12 mini for only 120 CAD on Black Friday. To be honest, I’m at the same time proud and sad. I’m proud because of my opportunity of being able to own the 12 mini but also sad because my friends are stuck with 2012 craps just because their parents aren’t willing to get them one or missed out on the crazy discount period. Speaking of the size, I really love small things. They are easy to handle and most of the time, adorable.
The first generation Iphone SE remains my favorite phone of all time and having a similar form factor Iphone 12 is the only reason Id ever consider/am considering switching back to apple.
@@taylormuse-22 damn, the first generation SE's still work? Good on ya for keeping with it this long, your patience seems to have been rewarded with the 12 mini.
@@taylormuse-22 well I'm even more surprised you could still buy them... Usually apples low end phones disappear after two years, especially when there as poorly known as the se
Love mine! I can't see going back back to anything bigger...coming from an 11 Pro Max...had the 12 Pro Max in hand and it's just too big. With phones that big you really do need the rounded edges of the 11 Pro Max to make it comfortable to hold. 12 Mini it is then!
Went from a iPhone 5s to 6s and now 12 mini. Digging the 12 mini, perfect size for my use and enjoy having a far better pocket camera now without having to tote around my RX10 or RX100.
I got an 11 earlier this year, upgrading from a 7. I hate the huge size, being a strong swipe-typer. Ordered the mini today. Stoked to be going back to a one-handed phone.
@@Paa375 I came from the iPhone X and battery life is similar for regular use, however, if you are playing games or doing anything intensive it is a bit easier to kill. I can usually finish a day with 10-40% depending on what I am doing. I can kill it in a day if I try, but I could do that on my X too. Size is great. I carried the 12 mini for a week, and then tried to use my X and it felt HUGE! The only thing I miss is the stainless steel sides from my X, which made the device feel much more luxurious than the aluminum on the 12 mini. It's a tradeoff I am willing to accept, as the steel is pretty hefty and would make the 12 mini quite a bit heavier if they had put steel on it instead. I would recommend finding someone who has the 12 mini and holding it before you buy it, so that you can get a feel for its compactness.
Just ordered mine today! Really wanted to have it already but they didn't have the green in any stores near me. Even over the phone, the customer service guy said "I just want to make sure I heard you right... you want the green?" 😅
I came from an iPhone 6s and just got the 12 mini and honestly it is a great phone. I’m really enjoying how much longer the battery lasts compared to the 6s
Upcoming Tech RU-vidr! I haven't seen your videos before but this one is top notch, giving exact information with best video quality and story telling. +1 Sub you completely deserve it!🙌
I have an 8, how is the change to facial recognition to unlock vs. the fingerprint (in the era of masks, etc.)? Can you disable it if you don’t want to mess with this (I am going on a ski trip and don’t want to get aggravated when I want to take a great photo, make a call, etc.)?
Bought one first day. Love it!!! I have to check if it is in my pocket at times. For all the time it is better being small, the few times a big would make my day doesn't make it worth carrying a huge screen around.
Bought the 12 mini last week. I observed that during bedtime i lost 30% battery life! It wasnt even connect to Wifi, anyone else observe this? Then, I kept the phone in airplane mode and lost just 3% battery overnight! Damn! Edit: software update fixed the issue! 😊
I recently purchase and love it. Not a power user and don't care for carry around a brick size phone. I previously had the 7 so this is a HUGE upgrade for me.
I've got nothing to say about the phone itself, as I do not have one, but I wanted to say I think you did a great job making the video flow and present well. Nice job, good video, keep it up! I subscribed btw.
Nice vid. Have had my 12 Mini for almost a week now and love it. Was about to give up on Apple due to the sizes only getting larger and performance waning but this phone has now brought me back to stoked on iPhones again.
I think it’s funny when people say one of the downsides is the smaller screen… I always respond out loud to the video saying, “for the people who are buying this phone that’s exactly what they’re looking for!”😂😂😂 coming from an iPhone 5s, I can finally purchase a new phone/upgrade! Fingers crossed for an iPhone 12/13 mini pro next year!👌👌👍
After 4.5 years my iphone 8 finally died, hello iphone 12 mini. Similar size with much more capability. Love it, its perfect and best thing is it still fits in most sized pockets. 👌
If you have the option I’d definitely try out the iPhone 12 mini. The battery isn’t as bad as some like to say and this thing is a beast. I knew I wanted it when it was leaked back in April. You won’t regret the upgrade to the iPhone 12 mini.
Thanks dude for this video. Just bought one with little to no research. Was second guessing myself as I do with most life decisions and your video helped walk me off the ledge. Now I have to play the waiting game. This should be delivered within the next week or so. Thanks again. 🙌🏻👏🏻
I just got my mini today as well coming from a Samsung galaxy 10 size is small but feels much nicer for sure. Isn’t the screen and back of phone have a coating so it doesn’t scratch easily or is everyone still getting back cases and a screen protector?
@@CodyMcDonald89 the front part has ceramic coating that is more shatterproof but in terms of scratch resistance its similar to previous models so screen protector and case or skin for the back is probably a good idea
I've had my blue Mini 12 since the 13th and coming from an XR this little phone is a revelation. Not only is it so much easier to carry but I'm definitely noticing better reception even though we don't have 5G in my area
Just got an iphone 13 mini (begged my dad for like, 5 hours). And if I'm being honest, it works a lot better than my broken ass Samsung S8 (that I got in 2017). So I recommend it
I bought one but ended up returning it for the regular 12. It felt great and it was everything that I wanted in a small phone but was always concerned about battery life and missing the bigger screen every now and then.
@@stefanosa5050 I think I may have given up on it too soon.. I forgot battery life is usually bad for the first few days on a new iPhone because Photos is probably re-analyzing all the photos. By the time I returned it battery life was almost fine again. I don't watch videos too much on the phone, I usually use my computer or iPad for that. But I do browse the web a lot... sometimes on a site that's not that well optimized for mobile, things can be a little small.
Just picked mine up. Kinda dig it. Coming from the s20 ultra. This is part of a fairly large personal ecosystem realignment. The fact that it is small af and kind of battery hobbled is a benefit to me in keeping me more conservative with my phone use.
I’m currently typing on the iPhone 12 mini and I love it! I bought it about 2 days ago and I gotta say I love this phone so much. I love small phone and this is an amazing choice 😊 the battery life isn’t really a problem for me because I’m not a super hard phone user I have at least 3:30 hours of screen time daily and I still have at least 2 hours of battery life left! I totally love this phone and I totally recommend it!!
You are terrific sir ...My wife and I are waiting for our new phones. I did the mini and I got my wife the standard iPhone 12. Its exciting having to wait,
I have one, I love it. Doesn't fall out of my pocket anymore and the battery life is fine. I always charge my phones when they are not being used anyway or in my pocket, so there's no difference. The only time I would be worried is if I were on a trip somewhere, but even then, now most planes have an outlet for chargers or I would bring extra power.
