His battery test sucks. The phones did practically nothing in web browsing but sitting on there at apple.com (no scrolling, no refresh hence no network/ram usage). Same shit also in gaming (no stress on the ram/processor/gpu as the phone just hangs around the starting point the whole time). And the volume level was at ZERO during the whole test (check volume level at 1:28, 2:03, 2:33, 2:58, 3:13, 3:33)
Looks like the battery situation with the Mini is not as bad as the reviews make it seem. Obviously, its battery capacity is lower. But it's still perfectly adequate.
Unless you are using your phone for more than 5 to 6 hours of heavy usage, itll do just fine. I will however be interested to see how it performs battery wise a few years down the line
@@flopface2237 True, the final result will depend on the style of usage. (Same with the battery longevity.) But I think that the people who require the heavy usage are not the same customers that are going to buy the Mini.
Yes. That's why I wished Apple used a larger battery capacity like (1) 4,000 mAh for the iPhone 12 mini, (2) 5,000 mAh for the iPhone 12, (3) 6,000 nAh for the iPhone 12 Pro, and (4) 7,000 mAh battery for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Heck, do you know if there is a manufacturer that sells a 10,000 mAh battery case for the iPhone 12 Pro Max?
My 12 pro max I bought like a week ago and it has been good it last me hora on a single charge I charger it once per day most of the time I’m the morning while I’m in school and it chargers so fast but after like 94% it chargers slow but I usually stop charging when it’s at 94 and it only takes like an hour and a half 2 tops if I’m not listening to music and it will last me the whole day till the next morning
social media is gonna consume less battery than things like videos and gaming so if you’re satisfied with how they did in this video you’ll be even more satisfied with lighter usage
I appreciate the changes you made to your test protocol especially the display calibration and showing the iOS versions. It’s something we had requested and I’m so pleased you listened. Great job on the test.
@@huzumnicolas4343 no. The phones were all set to the same absolute brightness. The non pro iPhones had their brightness setting up a few more percent to match the pros natively higher brightness.
The phones did practically nothing in web browsing but sitting on there at apple.com (no scrolling, no refresh hence no network/ram usage); Same shit also in gaming. Even in music/video playback (or any other cases), he did not even specify the volume level of the speaker.
@@mohammadxahid5984 Your comment is a bit misleading. It doesn't matter if the phones were just sitting on 1 website, the RAM would still be utilized, the network wouldn't be utilized but the RAM clearly will be, the CPU also wouldn't have work as hard as it needs to since there aren't that much elements moving on-screen. As for gaming, it's fair, both the CPU and GPU were being utilized, it also is a bit unfair but this comment is already very long so, I won't get into that.
@@CarlosMartinez-zu6xz i dont think so. not everyone randomly runs a benchmark on their phone for fun. this video is closer to real world application. gaming, video streaming and web surfing.
I had the iPhone x and just upgraded to the 12 pro max. Battery life is insane. I’m easily going the whole day with like 50% battery life left and a total screen on time for 6 1/2 hours. And it’s performance is crazy too.
Good video, short and crisp Please also compare mini battery vs 11 vs se2020 vs XS vs 11 pro.. comparing all of the same generation will not help users purchasing decision.
@@flopface2237 But I think, we all know that this generation iphones would follow the below trajectory:- Mini is better than se, 12 is better than mini, pro is better than 12 and so on..
Would be loved to see the 11 Pro Max in there. Others have reported the 12PM is only 30-45 mins worse, but would love to see that tested more, thanks !
iPhone 12 Pro Max screen on time is no doubt 3 hrs 45 mins more than iPhone 12 Mini but considering the price difference between the 2 end of the spectrum models in India (a whopping difference of USD 800 or INR 59000), I guess it's better to go with the iPhone 12 Mini for it's excellent value for money proposition. After all, screen on time of 8 hrs 43 mins is nothing short of great if not spectacular! Fantastic test Sir! Have a Nice Day!!!
The only issue I have with this is the phones don't have sim and cellular data on it's not true to life comparison the cellular data kills the battery way faster other then that great video
Good test, seems very controlled for different variables... I have the mini and for my needs it’s amazing, and lasts a day and a half, and that’s with full brightness and no battery saver on, I don’t run 5G though, only LTE, fast enough...
@Dami Fash I can’t imagine how you came to that determination. The phone can last all day of constant use, and still not die at the end of the day. In world where phones are that competitive, doesn’t mean if it’s not the absolute best for battery life, it’s not a good phone. So I disagree, Apple has proven its makes some of the best phones on the market.
The big surprise for me is the 12pro preformed better than the regular 12. Considering both have the same size battery but the 12pro has more ram, cameras and brighter screen even though they are set to same brightness.
My god the 12 pro max is a beast I was studying to save up more and buy the 13 because every other video just shows that it had trash battery life but this video touched on all my bases and it last 12hrs I’m sold
i got the 12 pro 2 days ago upgraded from the 6. its amazing, unplugged from 100% at 9:30am currently been almost 14 hours of constant use and still at 26%
I have an iPhone 12 and have to say it’s been great. Can use it for a full day and when I want to charge it it only take around 30 minutes to get back up to like 50% or so depending on at what percentage I plugged it in.
I’m using my iPhone 12 to watch this video actually and I’ve had a great time with battery life, I’m a pretty heavy user on my phone and usually at the end of the day I end up with about 30% battery and my average screen on time is about 10 hours, I do charge it from about 50 to around 80 some days but that doesn’t bother me at all and in the end I’m very happy with the battery life
Very good comment, its about whether you happy with phone meeting your demands. There will always gonna be trade off between size, weight, battery life.
I can't believe my eyes, even the 7000mah batteries die in 5 hour of gaming, socia media, youtube and other apps. I think this is the reason. Others have used too many apps on their devices.
I already had the iPhone 12 pro max for one whole day and it’s still going since I first got it, I barely use this phone on going, so I guess that’s why, but I really love this phone honestly for me it’s worth buying even though it’s really pricey. This phone almost lasted for two days! Also great video!! 😊
Same here , for the mini.. the mini is smaller than the 7 but more available screen so it looks bigger. If your 7 has no scratches or cracks you can get $350 credit with trade in.
I noticed that your sound was muted during the whole test. That is not a realistic scenario considering the speakers in use take up a lot of battery as well!
Agree with the comments about the mini. What is also surprising is that the standard 12 Pro lasts slightly longer than the standard 12, yet both have the same battery. I wonder why that is?
It's great that the battery of the iPhone 12 Pro Max lasted 12 hours. Imagine what its battery life would be if Apple used a 6,000 mAh or a 7,000 mAh battery on it.
