Gave mom my 12 Pro Max and got S21 Ultra. See if I miss iPhone or if this really impresses me for 8 months. If I like the move, I'll stay. If not I'll buy the 12s Pro Max.
I'm so deeply rooted into the Apple ecosystem I can't escape it at this point. With all of the Apple products I own, it would be like throwing money away if I switch now. The S21 Ultra looks AMAZING and I really want one, but with everyone I know having an iPhone and being able to airdrop and send things through iMessage, switching would be a major inconvenience. Not to mention, I would have to buy all Samsung products to replace my current Apple ones. Apple really knows how to rope you in. Edit: This comment is now obsolete. Switched to the S21 Ultra 😁
@@fiogray I honestly love it. I would say the only downside would be that the battery life is slightly worse compared to the 12 pro. It could be because I have DriveSense from Esurance running constantly, but I did the same with the 12 Pro and I would have at least 40% left by the end of the day, where with the S21 Ultra I have 12%. Also, you could even include the ugly emojis and ugly "memoji" as a small con. Other than that, I really have no complaints. This is the first time I've used android in over 5 years and the improvements are pretty amazing.
@@wesker74 Battery must be due to 120hz , it also depends on how long u have used the device. The more u use the more it will learn and battery should get better.
I have used Apple since 2007. Any Android experience I have, I think they are perfectly fine too. I like them both. I love gadgets. I would never hang on to older tech.
Finally a proper review comparison of both the phones. Most of the stuff online compares the cameras only. I mean if I wanted a camera I would have bought an actual camera. Thanks for the proper review.
Yeah agreed, I like both so I just switch every time I get a new phone. So now I’m running the iPhone 12 mini white 256 G variant. An in 4-5 years I’ll get an upgrade to whatever new Samsung is out at that time. Honestly is really nice switching things up so you don’t get bored with an only system
@@echobird115 exactly what u said people really needs to use both OS in order to differentiate them and not being bias because both of them has pros and cons
@@jamesdavies3238 but the s21 ultra offers a lot more than the iPhone. That 120hz larger display at full resolution, 108mp camera, 5000mAh battery, 10x optical zoom, etc. iPhone used to cost more, but was too overpriced for a 64GB LTE iPhone X to cost $999
@@kandeek133 I had it but returned it it’s a great phone but not great for what I need I use alot of social media Snapchat Instagram and upload a lot of videos and the iPhone quality is still miles ahead if Samsung can work with app developers to have them better optimized for phones it’s gonna be apple all the way for me doesn’t matter how many specs they cram into the next Samsung flagship the apps and optimization is always gonna be what makes me pick iPhone plus iMessage and FaceTime are still the best
I always have only max size of iPhone and now bought 12 pro max, but can’t hold and then bought a 12 mini, soooo I gave my 12 pro max to my wife and rocking with mini version, do comfortable, like iPhone 4 was in 2010.
S21 Ultra is unbelievable 🔥I love the option of reverse wireless charging which comes in clutch for devices that support wireless charging. I was able to set my refresh rate 120 hz while power saving is activated on this premium device, which makes the experience using this just incredible 🔥
the s21 ultra does have the 4k and even 8k options for RU-vid, it only shows 1440p cuz you have the setting enabled as 1080p, you need to go to the system setting and switch the display to the highest resolution
I was not thrilled with 14.4 at first but after a few days it has been stellar. I didn’t think the battery could possibly get any better on the 12 pro max but ever since the update completed I have been getting more then an extra hour on top of the already 8 hours SOT. Great review as always.
The iPhone 12 pro max could be perfect for my own experiences. It makes me feel satisfied enough so that I coudn't think to change to any Android phones out there.
If you have samsung you can control all The apps and take phonecalls, sms and everything with Windows. I had Mac and iPhone before, also great but do not support that much.
I sent my s21ultra back and got iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sure the camera and zoom are great. I do prefer the Samsung screen too, but there is so many things I just don’t like about android and one ui. iOS just works. Very happy with the 12 pro max so far. Perfect for my iPad and Mac mini too. 😊
I sent my s21 ultra back as well and got the iPhone 12 Pro Max. But for it was the curved screen!! I just couldn’t get used to it. I know you can get flat screen in s21 plus etc but then you sacrifice qhd. Both phones are absolutely superb. Iphone needs smaller notch and s21 ultra needs flat scree , well IMO anyway!! But they’re certainly both at the top of the tree.
I upgraded some months ago to the iPhone 12 Pro Max from the Galaxy S20 Plus. I don't like the iPhone and I mostly have compatibility issues. For example, I do not get the full features of the Galaxy Watch 3 that I had on the S20. There are also random annoyances adjusting to the iPhone where I could easily perform a task on my S20. Since I have Galaxy buds, a Galaxy watch and I've been using Samsung for several years, I perceived everyday use of iMessage and Facetime don't outweigh the costs and I lose from the Samsung line. One other thing to mention, selfies in mediocre light look terrible on the iPhone. I take more selfies that I use the main cameras. All of my iPhone connectability that I have with family will all now have to be done on my iPad Air 4.
I have been in the Apple ecosystem since 2010. My Company issued Android phones for a few years (until we starting getting a stipend to use our personal phones)...and I hated it. Maybe the Android had more bells and whistles and a better display. But the overall experience with Apple was much better. A MUCH better user interface. Simplicity is not necessarily a bad thing. I am currently on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, btw. Huge fan sir. This is Aaron and I'll watch you next time!
I actually have both, but I find myself using the S21 Ultra more. It works better with my Alienware X17! Now I'm thinking about getting the Pixel 6 Pro!
The higher viewing resolution on the iPhone 12 Pro Max must be a weird RU-vid thing because of course the Galaxy S21 Ultra has a much higher resolution display (and 120hz). As a Samsung owner, my main complaint with my S21 Ultra (and every other Samsung device) is that the actual apps and software seem to be less optimized than their Apple counterparts. I realize this is because Apple holds a much tighter grip on it's operating system, but I still wish that Samsung and Google would work closer together, in the future, to optimize the software experience better. If you compare the specs of the S21 Ultra and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, is clear that Samsung has the upper hand in most categories. That makes me wonder how good the S21 Ultra could be if Samsung and Google actually worked together to optimize it amazingly. I understand that Samsung and Google are competing with each other on a lot of levels, but I think Samsung and Google would both do better if Samsung kept pushing out great hardware and Google kept pushing out great software; their respective top-of-the-line fields in my opinion. I know the reason why Samsung is pushing for its own software (TouchWiz; One UI 3, 4, etc.) is because people are tending to keep their hardware longer, but I think that if Samsung keeps offering great trade-in deals every year and maybe works better with carriers to make even snazzier deals, then they could keep selling their hardware every single year and let Google optimize the software like they do with their Pixel phones. Google's Pixel phones unfortunately don't have great hardware, but the results, especially from their cameras, are amazing because of Google software . . . just imagine the Apple killer Samsung and Google could make together! By the way, don't get me wrong, I prefer Samsung Galaxy smartphones any day over Apple smartphones, I just think that Samsung could do even better.
In my opinion I think Samsung and Google work great together. I'll give you an example. I was trying to remember a song I played on you tube the day before and could not remember it ,so I just thought to myself if Google could help and I just said hey Google find my music and Google took me right to it on you tube. I'm serious every song I had played the day before you just have to no how to make them come together that's all.
After using the s21 ultra for some time now and getting rid of my iPhone, I have to say I'm very impressed. The problem that continues to plague Android or Samsung is that things just don't work as good as Apple. This phone is smooth, fast, but when it comes to links to windows or Samsung flow they never seem to work correctly. Now you have to pay to keep your photos as well by purchasing microsoft products. I can honestly say if you are strictly about just having a good phone packed with features get this phone. But if you use your phone for work, and need an all in one ecosystem you have to go apple.
I was with Apple from 2007 until 2017. Had an awesome run with iPhones but it seemed on those models that the battery wasn't great and would die at random percentages like 24% for example. Then switched to Android and enjoyed the S8 and S10. Now I'm really impressed with the latest iPhones and I'm thinking of switching back when the 13 comes out. Apple is just brilliant when it comes to its design too.
@@eroslations just leave the person with personal preferences, some like apple, some like Samsung, but ofc there are dumbasses that love finding every little bad thing about iPhones and androids and use it in their arguments about which phone is better and that’s why I hate many android users
Exactly, I switched from the XS max to 12 Pro and I am not looking back. And to think the 12 Pro max is even bigger than the XS max is crazy, especially considering the 12s have the flat edge design
I bought both. Apple ecosystem is tough to beat. S21 Ultra screen is just mesmerizing and buttery smooth. Iphone has a better snap and shoot camera but the S21 Ultra allows for crazy zoom. Both are equally as fast. Battery is superior on the Iphone 12 Pro Max but the S21 Ultra will get you through the day fine.
Watching on my iPhone 12 Pro Max really considering giving the S21 Ultra a try getting fed up with the same stuff from iPhone only difference seems to be the frame and new chip don’t get me wrong great phone but apple just need to change it up a little more looking at the 11 pro max there isn’t too much of a difference
Had an ultra for about 2 weeks and just went back to iPhone have a thing for going back and forth but really do regret getting rid of the S21 ultra didn’t spend enough time using it to try get away from ios might get another one or try the fold 2
I'm a Samsung guy but I have to be honest I compared a fight I was watching on birth phones in you tube and I'm telling you the iphone video quality made me feel like I was sitting trying side watching that fight I swear on everything I love🤣❤️
Look I agree Android does this and does that, but honestly I don’t think people care about all that. I’ve seen more people with an iPhone than any other phone especially Samsung. Don’t get me wrong Samsung created an awesome phone! But I just think apple’s simplicity with iOS is what draws people to iPhone. I’ve had a Samsung phone and I liked it, but overall I just didn’t need all the bells and whistles, and I honestly think most people think that way. Bottom line Apple is doing something right because they keep selling phones no matter how small the upgrade is.
I am in this current dilemma. To stick with Galaxy, or go back to iPhone. Another point to consider is the different companies and what THEY have to offer. If ordering from Samsung themselves, you get a $250 store credit to stock up on different Samsung gear (buds, watches, tablets, charging bases, cases, etc.) Apple does not offer anything like this. I like the vibrance and color of the iPhone 12 Pro camera, but I would want to have my gear to go with it. It would have been more appealing to switch if I would be able to get my watch and earbuds that I NEED!
Thank you. My goal is to give you all the accurate information so you can make an informed decision and of course always be truthful regardless of your personal bias.
It’s nice because he constructively goes through both with no bias. I thought thought the Samsung would have better speakers then it does.. iPhone clearly sounds better and overall louder in this comparison.
@@protectyourqb No he lied. On portrait mode, the Samsung background was washed out, but he said the Apple background was washed out. We could clearly see the Apple camera quality was superior, it just can’t zoom as far. No, he was not being honest.
Awesome video as usual. One thing battery tests don't test, is stand by time. Do the test as usual and in the middle, leave the phones sit for 8 hrs to simulate over night. See how much that Galaxy would bleed out. I have the S20FE5G and I lose about 7% over night without on a charger. When I had iphone I would lose 1-2% .
I have the 12 pro max myself but that notch has to go. Especially after this pandemic I've been gravitating toward my android device more because touch ID is more convenient. I shouldn't have to remove my mask to unlock my phone.
I really like the certain apple features, elegance, build quality, apple chipsets contributing to ram and battery efficiency, and simple os layout...etc, but you have so much customizability with android, and typically better hardware, but at times inconsistent in quality and operability, still waiting on a flagship google pixel to ditch Samsung bloatware or even better googles new OS fuchsia.
Ive had a iPhone since the 3GS. Tried a Galaxy Skyrocket 2 but didn’t like the Android platform, plus it didn’t support hands free dialing like the iPhone did. Went back to the iPhone and never looked back. Everything I have is Apple. I even have the 80 Gb iPod classic and it still works.
I have note 20 ultra and max both have their good points don't notice any difference in speakers both have great cameras only thing I don't like bout note is the accidental touches.
Been watching your vids for awhile. I got the iPhone 6 after having the S4. Been using iPhone ever since. Android put a sour taste in my mouth so to speak since my mom got an S10 and one of the apps she downloaded the first day from the Google play store had malware on it. I’ve never seen an Apple phone with that from the App Store. I got then iPhone 12 Pro Max today upgrading from then iPhone 10 XS max. Loving it so far.
@@Cristi3453 not calling my mom stupid here but my mom wouldn’t know how to install a third party app if it fell out of the sky and landed on her face and began to wiggle. What she downloaded from the google play store or whatever it is they call it, completely altered her phone.
The idea of Mega Pixel doesnt matter nowadays higher megapixel not always means higher quality photos need to consider low light performance. Lower light situation the lower mega pixel is better thats why iphone takes better low light photo. And depends on image signal processor as well apple has faster cpu which takes the lead IMAO
I prefer the S21 ultra. I've been an Android person for a while, a lot of members in my family owns iPhones. For me, I would never switch to iPhone permanently. I'm sure some might feel the same about their iPhone too. But based on switching with my spouse for a week to see what the hype was about, I was missing my Android phone the same day . My spouse even regretted making the switch to the iPhone 12 Max pro now he wants an the Ultra too. 🤣🤣
@@DavidSmith-hn5gg why rebooting...who told u that....the differences between iOS and android have diminished so much and i think you'd be surprised ... so don't give your opinion if you're not 110% sure what you're saying
I pondered over S21 Ultra and 12 Pro Max...went with the S21 Ultra. For me, the 120hz display, camera, and customization won the day. Also to a lesser extent USB-C over lightning. All of my devices including iPad Pro and laptop use USB-C and I have one 90W PD charger to charge them all. I just like standardizing to USB-C...just my preference. Finally, the pre-order deals from Samsung were amazing. Got my 128GB S21 Ultra for $522 shipped after trade-in allowance, 10% education employee discount from Samsung and $100 instant rebate from Verizon, plus the $200 credit toward accessories to seal the deal. So far, no regrets...I love my S21 Ultra.
So you ordered directly from Samsung? I am wanting to order my Samsung S21 Ultra in the next few days and I'm used to ordering through my carrier, Verizon. Do you suggest ordering through Samsung or Verizon? What's the main difference besides incentives they have going on at the time? Thank you..
I have the Galaxy S21 Ultra 512G, updated from a Note 9 512G. I had the first MacBook Pro but never got an iPhone because I chose the top of the line Motorola Droid instead of each iPhone, because it was better in many ways until the iPhobe 4S stsrted getting much better, and switched to a Google Pixel XL 128G when Motorola Droids went to the modular format, and then got the Note 9. I woukd get an iPhobe Pro Max 512G only if I got another Mac or iPad Pro for music creation or other creative functions. Like you said, both are great, but different. I prefer the S21 Ultra.
Hi good review my advice would be if you like the iPhone is wait for the 13 pro max that should have a smaller notch 120hz display an on screen finger print scanner a few camera upgrades an the new a 15 chip, but if you like Samsung then go for it👍🙂🙂
Hi, could u help me with the Samsung S21 Ultra, I have a few questions 🙏 1. Why is Samsung S21 Ultra is overheating, while I'm using vpn, Instagram, FB, and other apps? 2. For Instagram app (photos, video) is better Iphone or Samsung? Thank u in advance for all your answers!
Jus got rid of my 12 pro max for the s21 ultra, it was a good phone but nothing really changed over the years and it doesn't have 120hz refresh rate ,but this s21 ultra I love, p.s most people jus buy iPhones for blue text messages 😁😅i was that person
Just got the ultra man! What an amazing phone with the galaxy watch and smart tag what an amazing pre-book deal...and so glad I did not got the iPhone... and seriously the 120hz display is soo smooth also 100x zoom is also very usable on a tripod...Camara department, display, Haptics, also the battery🥰 Hate me or what, ngl this time samsung just nailed it😇
@من جنوب لبنان samsung has inferior versions of those apps. Have an s21 ultra and am prob gonna switch to a 12 pro max. S21 ultra also has an annoying graint effect on their screens that most people won't notice but it does bother me. Apple doesn't have that grainy effect tho so idk what it is.
Keep in mind the s21 5G has no 5G antenna. Watch jerryrigeverything s21 5G teardown. I prefer a phone that you know does not lie about a major feature.
I absolutely wished Samsung did the s21 ultra with a flat screen. I really loved my s21 ultra apart from the curved screen. In the end it was a deal breaker and I sent it back and got the iPhone 12 Pro Max which is also a superb phone but not quite as good as the s21 ultra IMO. I just couldn’t get past that screen. I really hope next year you have that option of flat screen on the s22 ultra. I know you can get the s21 plus and s21 with flat screen but then you sacrifice qhd. Which to me is a deal breaker as well. The smoothness and speed on the s21 ultra is a generation leap ahead of the iPhone. And in fair the iPhone is no slouch! Anyway you won’t go wrong with either of these phones.
My experience with s21 ultra is something unreal... No lags at all smoothest ever, 120hz, Ram managment, battery life, gaming all are too good to be true.... I broke my acc for this beast and trust me no regrets at all👆
Aaron, thanks for the video. It was informative! I’ll stick with my silver 128 Gig iPhone 12 Pro Max. I like the sound quality and battery life & perf. has improved with iOS 14.4.
I currently have the s21 ultra but I have to say I like how your voice sounded on the iPhone better. Came across as more natural sounding. s21 kinda sounded a bit flat in comparison
i actually had the s21 ultra but realize i hate curves screen, i dont really take pictures at all, and 12 gb ram is Overkill and the last i dont really see a difference with 1080p or 1440p unless they're next to each other so i exchanged it for s21+ and saved a couple hundred no regrets
I love how he lied in our face when he said the Samsung portrait mode background was more washed, when we clearly saw Samsung’s was. He’s biased in favor of android, clearly.
Looks? The damn thing is still rocking that awful notch and still has the same shitty splatter of apps as a home screen. iPhone needs to move away from 2011 and actually clean itself up.
@@dani_i8942 to be fair, not everyone cares about customization and layout when choosing phones. When I switched to iPhone last year (first time ever) my need to customize and mod everything like I do for android dropped dramatically in favor of just fast snappy efficient results. It's really a matter of what you want. Wish ppl would stop comparing.
Hey Aaron , Your review is amazing plus your getting so much traction on You Tube , seems your one of the top reviews for Apple products . BTW.... what’s your current iPhone you use daily and what’s your favourite iPhone ?
Exceptional unbiased comparison. I’m an iOS user but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Galaxy Note phones. Really hope the rumors of Samsung discontinuing the Note line are bogus considering how great the S21 Ultra appears to be.
Both great phones but I am not compelled to part with my Note 10+ yet as it still does everything fast and easily. Only tempted by Apple since I bought the M1 macbook air...still wondering if the integration makes that much difference for me.
Really don’t know what to say on camera quality but they both look absolutely amazing on both of them really ain’t no difference to it to be honest 🤩 👍
think Zoom!!! I hope Apple learned the lesson. As of 6/6 on Verizon's web site only Max is available in full configurations as oppose to tremendous shortages of S21 ultra. That tells me a lot about 'preferences' of 'about the same' phones.. I'm not young anymore, and not stupidity hot about gadget (still love them), so am willing to wait with my Note 9 until next year. The leaks about S22 looks promising with much better even more camera!! :)
I switched from my Galaxy Note 9 to the 12 pro max..... Decided to try iPhone out again since my last iPhone was the iPhone 3GS. So far I’m really liking the iPhone.
I have both. I’m stuck on, family and friends have iPhones but I love the stuff I can do to an android that iPhone refuses to let me change. But every time I change to android I get criticized lol. I like the camera on the iPhone for my kids since they move a lot but with android it’s a hit or miss.
Yeah same issue with me. I’m debating on what to do since I just bought the 21 ultra. I have a iPhone 11 and it’s my first iPhone and I love it but I miss a lot on android. I have more people on iOS so I like FaceTime and iMessage and I do have the beats and iPad and air pods and they work really good together. I’m honestly thinking about returning the 21ultra and wait on the iPhone 13 or the note and sees what happens. But i do like Apple wallet and I use that a lot. There’s just some things I don’t like about Apple ofc and the same with android but it all depends on what you like. Or why not have both? Lol
Love my black s21 ultra. I hope a new Note gets released this year though as I love the more boxy design. And an integrated s pen is just more practical.
S21 best all around versatile phone. Macro shot to very far shots and up to 108 mp for photo prints. Great battery life, new design, customizable, bright smooth screen. I would only pick iphone for video and buy an older cheaper one because it's the same phone :)
