The accuracy of this test is amazing. Not only you take into consideration the stand by time and use day to day apps, but the robot is actually scrolling and using the apps like a user would do. Most battery tests are focusing on benchmarks, gaming and video recording to kill the battery very fast, but those test can’t apply in real life scenarios. Looking forward to 12 Pro Max vs. Note 20 Ultra or even 11 Pro Max battery test 🔋

Exactly, most RU-vidrs run applications like Geekbench and 3D benchmark tests and I’m like why?! These are not applications the average person will be doing on a daily basis. They just like to run it as it eats up battery life so they can finish the video faster.

@@alvinfrancis776 Yes I clearly understand what you’re trying to say but most of the time they’re just doing it to speed up the making of the video. Even playing games probably only uses 70% of the GPU so the benchmark tests is really unrealistic and unnecessary. On the bright side, I’m glad we have Phonebuff that does these amazing comparison videos that exclude benchmark tests.

@@rastaman971 Yes, the Pixel has a higher refresh rate, although being fair (I don’t recall if it was in this or another channel) there has been done comparisons between the same phone (S20 or Note20) between higher refresh rate or higher pixel count and apparently the refresh rate isn’t that big of a difference battery-wise compared to resolution. Hence my train of thought that’s while the Pixel has a better refresh rate (come on Apple, don’t be cheap) it shouldn’t account the big difference in battery and ever noticeable screen resolution.

Rastaman971 The 90hz barely costs 30 minutes of battery life, so not really game over. It's actually very very impressive for the Iphone because it has the bigger higher res display and a 30% smaller battery.

I got the mini what do you want to know? Today I started the day with 100%. I have 2h20m of screen time. I used it for browsing the web, Twitter, Instagram, camera, downloading some apps, a quick 2D gaming session. I have 71% left.

If you are using the 12 mini then gaming is bad for the battery however I think everything else is pretty good for the battery I think it can easily last as long as iPhone 11 but I am not sure and also 3D gaming is bad until they optimize it

Surprisingly I thought the Pixel was gonna win by a long margin because it has that 4000mAh battery and that efficient mid range Snapdragon chip. So it really comes down to this: Either Apple is really good on battery optimisations or Google is terrible at battery optimisations, or could be both 😜

Optimization on pixel is weaker than the one on iPhone. Apple is probably the only one who can squeeze the most battery life out of capacity under 3,000mAh, a 2,815mAh but with far more better efficient chip/optimization, pixel rarely uses its 90Hz and had a 30% larger battery, yet didn’t win by a huge margin

Very impressive performance by the iPhone. Even with 30% less battery capacity than the Pixel, it only loses by 7%. Granted, if Pixel used 60hz instead of 90hz, iPhone may have lost by a bigger amount. Still, very impressive.

@Çode X Wrong, 90hz is used in many supported apps, not just games or the UI. And the iPhone's resolution is only marginally higher, so the impact on battery life is minimal and certainly smaller than the 90hz refresh rate on the pixel.

@@FidAmic Both the slight increase in resolution on the iPhone and 90hz on the Pixel shouldn’t be eating up the battery. This comes down to optimisations, I know for a fact Samsung has a clever feature where the refresh rate will calibrate to the Application (e.g RU-vid video @1080p will reduce the refresh rate to 30hz). However, I’m not sure whether Google has that implemented. So for the fact Apple lost by only 20+ mins while having a much smaller battery, I’m gonna give it to the iPhone and say the Pixel needs to be further optimised.

@@dsjc_ The GPU rendering 50% more frames in many apps will undoubtedly eat more battery than a slight increase in resolution. Why do people continue to defend apple for putting tiny batteries in their phones? Plus the embarrassing fact that their 2020 flagships run on 60hz, which is inexcusable considering the price point.

@@FidAmic The only big GPU usage was the Gaming test and that saw the Pixel eat up about 15 battery point. Plus other GPU usage from other applications, that’s an approximate 30 over 100 battery point only. Look, I don’t defend Apple, I see the positives and negatives of each company. I also wonder why u haven’t said anything wrong about the Pixel but instead just give excuses saying “it has a higher refresh rate” or maybe “Apple has 5nm vs 7nm”. The truth is, the Pixel needs optimisations. It was even supposed to outperform the iPhone by a big margin as it had that more efficient mid-range Snapdragon chip which has lower clock frequencies and more high efficiency cores. Did I wished Apple included a bigger battery? Well obviously yes. That being said, If Apple had 4080mAh with 90hz and they were using the same class of chips, tell me, who do you think will win?

Close, however I think you should have used the default mail & maps app on the iPhone instead of gmail and google maps. There could be a little difference there. Not only can the app be better optimised, but also that it doesn't sip as much battery in the background when you test the phones in standby.

Well sorry for not making myself clear. I wasn't talking about how powerful 765g is because it's a midrange processor anyway. I was talking about how it impacted battery life because Apple is already great at optimization and on top of that more energy efficient processor. So it's probably no surprise that 1200mah battery difference didn't seem much and that's what I was trying to say

Fact is a 3 year old snapdragon 835 can already handle high refresh rate, anyone that says the 765G is not worthy of 90Hz screen just don't know how hardware works. After watching a lot of reviews for both of these phones, I’m really surprised with the results here. Qualitative feedback from people using these phones in the real world says that the Pixel 5 last much longer than a typical day, whereas the iPhone 12’s battery is just fine (maybe a bit worse than the 11).

A remark about the test, there should be an indicator of battery performance per unit battery capacity. What I mean is two phones undertook the same work until iPhone died (spent 100% of its battery capacity, which is 2800 mah) and pixel had 7% at the time. So spent 93% of its 4080 Mah capacity which is around 3750). Looks like iPhone does the same job with a 0.8 unit energy while pixel has to spend 1 unit energy.

And you can tell which would have lasted more in case of equal battery capacity. OR, how much additional time of usage would be possible for pixel if it had the efficiency of the iphone.

@@guil.meister4205 no, it’s not like they liked the thin design. The flat edge made the phone feel bigger when holding it in the hand, and also look bigger than the round edge because of the optical illusion. So they had to reduce the thickness a little bit to overcome those two problems

You haven't made a battery test for Huawei's flagship phones for quite a long time!! P40 Pro and the latest 5nm Mate 40 Pro!! Everybody wants to see your tests for Huawei's devices against other flagship brands as they are fantastic and enjoyable to watch. Next make sure to include Huawei Mate 40 Pro.

You are damn so wrong. Its about how battery is handled in day to day use and the power input in charging cycle. And the fact that androids are so POORLY optimised and come with 60w 40w 80w 100w adapters,, all the androids would become obsolete and will have much SHORTER lifespan than any iphones lol,, in 2020 a fucking 4s a 9 year old works better than galox s5 a 6 year old. That says it all

@@mshaheerarshad S5, S6 and S7 are a different story. Now we don't even need to charge our phones as much anymore because of the new UI optimisation that keeps charge life entire day. Your iPhone is inadequate for longer lifespan. Only people with a gentle usage tend to last longer on iPhones. Even Vodafone sales assistant said to me her battery life is shit even tho it was just a year old. In next few years... iPhones will have a better optimisation, but they will end up in trash after 2 years for majority of people. You don't know this because you don't even know the purpose behind optimisation and a bigger battery

It is not optimized yet, Apple usually addresses this in the latter stages of its iOS version and battery life should improve further, iOS 14.1 to 14.2 improved my battery life by about 20%.

They are. Don't forget that the Pixel 5 has a 42% bigger battery... The Pixel 5 drained about 360 mAh, the iPhone ~307 mAh. That's 15% less. But yeah, even the iPhones become a lil' worse there.

@@clickbaitpro I have a p4. The 90hz consumes 1% more battery on average and I run locked 90hz. Also p5 has dynamic refresh. 1/8 from geek bench. A13 is faster than any mobile chip on the market let alone midrange 765

@@clickbaitpro Pixel doesn’t deliver continuous 90hz. You have to force 90hz in the developer options which I doubt dave did. In most of the apps, it was running at 60hz.

lol this isn't 1/8 for sure, you're throwing random numbers. Anyway, this difference isn't noticeable. Pixel 5 with 90 Hz will be even more fluid and faster rather than slow animations of ios. And Pixel is 130$ cheaper. And comes with a charger...

They have higher refresh rate screens and an older 7nm processor. Still doing all that it has 9.5 hours screen time. Bump to 60hz and I bet you can save an hour of battery

I feel like every android flagship next year should have no less than 5000mah batteries,where apple doesn't really need it. That being said if they did throw one in the max model it would probably be the battery champ of the year.

@@-ThatGuy- apple designs its own chip so they can optimise the hell out of them. Pixel uses snapdragon’s chip so they are limited in their software optimisation. End of the day iphone optimisation is pointless if they’re not going to put 4000mah battery.

@Kamień Wodny the peak for summoning google assistant is either : a) Tap The Apple Logo of your iPhone twice/thrice. b) Creating a shortcut to open google assistant after setting up “Hey Siri” and adding the shortcut under the phrase “Ok Google” but the downside is you need to say “Hey Siri , Ok Google” however , if it’s a mouthful for you , you could shorten it to a letter or something... but you’ll still need to say “hey Siri”

@@Divyesh_Sinha it's more likely a practical use. I would prefer practical test over an equal comparison. Also pixel comes up with an adaptive 90 hz display which means it can get upto 90hz max but doesn't stay at 90hz if not needed

To those who want to shit on Google Pixel, keep in mind how much cheaper it is, the amount of features it offers, the screen refresh rate and the fact that it's an open system where you can change almost anything. Apple closes their system and limits what you can do, but that helps with battery. Do I personally care about that? No. It's still so much more expensive and it restricts what I can do. Freedom > Everything else

So literally as i thought the Pixel 5 package is the equivalent of an iPhone 12 just with android: Best software support, hella nice cameras, small form factor and great battery performance for size. I mean look at all the flagship phone manufacturers. All of them try to hardware compensate their software flaws with 6,5-6,9 inch devices which are almost unusable for people with small hands. I even had to sell mine and switch to an iPhone due to the weird sizing.

It didn't really beat it, in standby the pixel 5 lost 360mah of battery vs 307mah on the iPhone but pixel has bigger battery meaning it lost less % points. Pixel 5 is best android for standby that I've seen tho
