I think a lot more goes into recommending which phone someone should get. As someone upgrading from a 6s, it's the 12 pro all the way as I know it's going to be more future proof, as slight as it may be, over the standard 12. I usually go about upgrading every few years so I'd rather go and spend a little more to get a little more knowing that the extra ram/storage will make it more future iOS proof.
Nice job on the comparison but the real price difference is $150 once you bring the iPhone 12 up to 128 gigs and then the question becomes only $150 for the pro?
Another great vid, Mark. You are on 🔥 !!! Just love the way you do reviews and comparisons man, one of the best in the community. For me, the 12 series are excellent but would get the 11 pro or 11 just to save money or what if I'll decide to get one though, but I'm not 🤭 Nevertheless, just keep safe always and be here supporting you! Thumbs up 👍🏻
The colors are far better on the pro models. I'm looking to upgrade from my SE 2016 to the mini though because I don't like big phones. I love that the screen to body ratio is so much better while keeping the overall size small. $729 bucks is ridiculous though.
Did you controll your screen a latof people say than apple use two digferent screen pannel for 12 and 12 pros and some of them is hıgh quality some of it low quality and some of the ıphone 12 models have greenish or yellowish screen
@Ivan Last if you keep your apps open and full brightness all the time yeah it’ll go down but I always close apps it’s a habit I know people who keep 20 applications open 😂
@Ivan Last honestly if you want a bigger battery go for the max. And the display is obviously bigger too. Camera can zoom in more on the max too. The pro is respectable you know. It’s so in the middle of of the max and mini but it’s more towards the max because the camera quality and battery is bigger then mini so the pro for me is perfect tbh but up to you
Depends on the color. If it's a lighter color on the 12 it won't pick up fingerprints as much even if it is glossy. But for darker colors, definitely the matte.
A really off the topic comment... Whenever I see your video, all I can think is about your style and look. Looks so trendy 70s style. And... it feels as if a Hollywood actor from an old movie is making a tech video :-D Nice indeed :)
A bit late to the party but I'd like to say this is a very good review! I think the only one that gave me a decisive answer on which of the three I should buy. (12/12Pro/12 Pro Max) iPhone12 Mini is just too small for me (not to mention smaller battery capacity).
Also idk why but even the regular sized 12 feels small in my hand compared to the pro max which is a better fit I think you should wait til 13 or at least when prices drop however 12 pro max is great with battery
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini is for people who have a professional camera!! iPhone 12 pro & iPhone 12 pro max is for people who aren’t into professional cameras!! That’s just my opinion.
The smallest text size of the iPhone XR/11 is much smaller when compared to the smallest text size of the iPhone XS/11 Pro. Is there any difference between the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro? Thanks
After looking at all these comparison videos seeing that there’s really not much difference between the 12 and 12 pro I’m still torn, I love photography and after seeing pictures the 12 can take there’s no doubt I’ll still get a good picture with the 12, the only 2 reasons I’m torn are really silly reasons, the first is I really just want to see what that Lidar sensor has to offer and I know that the majority of people are going to get a 12 so being into tech it would be cool just have a bit of tech that nobody else has, the other reason is I actually missed the chance to get a new iPhone during the first batch and I know this girl who’s parents bought her a 12 and I kinda just want to get a pro to shut her up bragging about it, looking at the base storage options 128gb is about right for what I need so really it’s a difference of £150. I’m guess I’m just asking is the Lidar sensor worth an extra £150 or is it not worth it?
I agree with this video. If you are not gonna really use dolby vision(or don't even know what that is) or the scanner or telephoto and color grading in post edits and all that.. then the reg 12 its more than enough. Maybe if you are using the phone for heavy gaming the pro would be a bit better cause of the better RAM (not much difference) but other than that not a big difference and I love the reg 12 battery lasts longer. Plus it adds up after you pay for apple care or what ever insurance you put on it. I think most people put a case on the phone anyways so the finger prints or color won't mattered much to me.
the iphone 12 128gb is 50 usd more so now the gap is 150$ then u need to pay 30$ extra to get it unlocked now its 120$ diff at that price just get the 12 pro
That same logic could be applied to any version. If I want to buy an Iphone 11, you can say just get the 11 pro you're already spending this much. And then say actually just get the 12 you're already spending this much and so on. 200 dollars for just a tiny bit better camera, I don't know really. That's probably not worth it. The 2gb ram difference is what's making me think twice tough.
@@keyzzzzz4700 true but the 12 pro(128gigs) only costs 120 dollars more than the 12(128gigs). An extra camera, lidar, 2 more gigs of ram, better build and color, slightly brighter display is alot you're getting for 120 dollars. And you'll only realise the importance of the extra ram in the long run.
At 128GB, the price difference between the 12 and the Pro is just $120. The tele lens and the 2GB RAM alone are worth it. Edit: the actual difference between 12 and 12 Pro: - Telephoto lens - 2GB extra RAM - LIDAR - Steel frame - Night mode portrait - 60 hz Dolby HDR - ProRAW format The next $100 to Pro Max gets you - Better telephoto lens with larger sensor - Better image stabilization - Bigger screen - Bigger battery The best value is the Pro Max, followed by the Pro, then the Mini, with the standard 12 in last place. The mini is a better value than 12 because it has everything on the 12, but $100 cheaper just because smaller battery and smaller screen.
@A Google User exactly. The pro doesnt feel pro to me. If it had promotion it wouldve been soo worth the price tag so i switched to the 12 and will wait for an actual pro with promotion
I don't see any justification to pay the (200+ extra in my country) to upgrade from the iPhone 12 to iPhone 12 pro, like honestly touch your heart, do you really need a lidar scanner and a telephoto lens? It sounds fancy and cool now, but once youve used your phone for a good 3/4 months you'll realise how useless those functions are. I rather save the extra to get myself a good cover and some accessories which I would pay extra for rather than some fancy AR stuff I'll probably try once and never touch again.
@@roy4816 The 2 GB extra memory makes a difference in everyday use. With my 11 Pro apps often reload when I switch out. On my 12 Pro I can come back to youtube and be taken to the exact spot of the video to resume. Also, since I used the tele lens on my 11 Pro, I can’t go back to not having one. It is actually useful. The iPhone is expensive. I always go for the most features and largest storage in the smallest package if I pay this kind of money. The 12 pro max is too large for one-hand use, so the 512GB 12 Pro is it for me.
I still think Apple could've done a lot better with features, considering the returning notch, lack of a fingerprint scanner (kind of a big deal nowadays), no high refresh rate display option, slightly worse battery life than the 11 series, etc. There's really nothing for me personally that would warrant an upgrade even from the X apart from raw performance (which I guess isn't a terrible thing considering I won't be spending more money 🤣).
And the camera. The X’s camera today just looks like something from 2014. The XS was a great jump in the camera dep. Although, i do agree, nothing making me jump phones from mine.
Ikr, idm buying into all these useless extra features on the pro I'll probably never ever use just to flex to my friends who don't have a lidar scanner.
@@MarkSpurrell No, but seriously 😭 I can spot the slight slight sssssllliiiggghhtttt difference in the wideness of the two. Of course, I wouldn't say it that much of a difference to even care about, but my eye is just too sharp to not see it. I've been able to spot it in other videos too, but I thought I was trippin before.
@A Google User I dunno man, I used to think the regular 12 was the better value as well, but the more I think about it the pro seems to be worth the extra money. Here's why: - 64Gb is shit. No one should ever buy a phone with 64 gigs. 128gb should be the absolutely minimum. And so if you upgrade the regular iphone 12 to 128gb, the price difference is only $150 dollars - Though as of right now, the 4gb vs 6gb of ram doesn't make much of a difference in real world use, apps and operating systems are always becoming more and more hardware demanding. I would think of it as future proofing. Who's to say iOS 15 and 16 won't make use and/or benefit from that extra 2gb of ram? I would highly bet it would - The cameras are near identical in terms of 'standard' image quality and performance, but the pro has one huge advantage over the regular (for me at least) and that's the night time portrait shots. The LiDar sensor helps with this tremendously and produces way better dark portrait pictures. So for the $150 dollar difference (actually it's a little less since for some reason Apple charges an extra $30 for an unlocked 12), I personally think it's absolutely worth it for the pro. But yeah, this is obviously subjective, so to each his own!
@A Google User What's interesting about that is Marquise Brownlee (arguably the biggest tech reviewer on this platform) somewhat agrees with my statement. He states that given once you upgrade the regular 12 to 128gb, the price difference is pretty marginal between the regular 12 and the 12 pro and so at that point should you might as well upgrade to the pro? And regarding the 12 pro vs. the 12 pro max, I think all of us (including myself) thought the pro max was going to be the the 'most worth' it of the lineup because for only an extra $100 vs the standard pro, it does have a bigger screen, bigger battery, and a better camera module - or so we thought. Again if you watch Marquise Brownlee's review of the 12 pro max, he assumed the same, but when he actually tested the camera and compared it to the standard pro, there was barely any difference (negligible to say the least). But yeah, there's no arguing with this new iphone 12 generation release, given that all the phones in the lineup are so similar in terms of performance and pricing, it makes it really confusing for buyers as to which one to buy. In previous releases it was pretty obvious which phone was catered towards low-to-mid tier users, and which was targeted towards high-end users, but that's not the case anymore.
@@orcuncobanoglu9019 exactly what I said screen is ok. Actually I am not a heavy user I got 6 to 7 hours battery in a day. I only charge once at night normally and that usually cover all the day. Yap if u keep full brightness throughout the day and do a lot of photography and capture video at 4K battery will be an issue.
@@orcuncobanoglu9019 same here using Facebook Instagram WhatsApp Messenger RU-vid and some music app but getting 7 hours plus...you should keep background app close for getting more battery life or should talk with a tech expert. But I think 6 hours is pretty good.
