Disagree, the iphone looks sometime jerky and it has some very weird and ugly artificial sharpening to compensate the tiny sensor size.

Thanks for the video. It's amazing that there is so little difference in image quality when the price of the A7 is so much higher. I suppose that it will compensate for the expert in the greater number of options in manual mode or in a greater margin for editing. Very instructive in any case like all your content. A greeting from Spain!

Dope video bro. I think A is the iphone and B is the A7Siii.. I did comment before hearing the answers, but honestly you cant really tell the difference unless you work with cameras on the reg. The iphone surprised me to look that good. I do mostly wedding films, but I would consider doing real estate vids in future using this setup. Im also currently team sony with the A7iii and (2)A6400s. Looking forward to the next vid bro as I sub'd.

The thing here is that the iPhone basically does color grading and HDR for you on the fly. You'd have to shoot in Slog3 and grade the footage yourself in which case the results are limitless. How did you manage to upload your iPhone footage without loosing any quality. My iPhone videos are so bad compared to the A7c when uploaded to RU-vid or other social media platforms.

Thanks for the video. It was fantastic. Andrei told me to come watch this video. I personally liked the Iphone footage more. Everyone will have their horse in the race they are rooting for and it can be seen in the comments. I don't think you can understate how light the setup and the speed at which you can switch focal lengths and deliver footage. Also for the price you could upgrade your phone every year for 5 years meanwhile only pick up one new mirrorless setup every 5 years to match it. At the end of the day, use both tools!

Really good footage comparison. There is a noticeable difference but not everyone would guess the iphone footage was taken on a mobile phone if that’s all they had seen. The biggest thing - obvs. - is the hand that hold the camera, knowledge, editing etc. The walking clips def. we’re wobbly with the phone but not surprised at that. watched the video on a macbook pro 15". You can tell the difference when compared side by side. But I bet 99,9% would not be able to tell which camera was used when you show them just one shot or one video produced with one camera. And as you said, the fact that you need a side by side comparison to tell the difference between a smartphone and a 6000 dollar setup not only shows your incredible skills, but also the fact that these iPhone cameras are getting really good.

In regards to image quality, they were pretty close. I could only tell because of the obvious warping that the iPhone had while using the gimbal. Also, the exposure was more than acceptable on the iPhone since he didn’t use an ND filter (and only used natural lighting). Pretty hard to nail exposure for windows and indoors without those things. That’s what gave it away to me. The iPhone is pretty damn impressive and I’m gonna try to make a comparison video with my a7iv and the iPhone 13 pro.

After using my iphone 13 for 9 months now, I have found that when filming in .5 lens and 1080p 60fps, the phone can’t refocus when lighting changes if I don’t press the little sun focus first. If the sun exposure is in a spot then it works. If there is no sun, I only have a few minutes maybe even seconds before the camera crashes and stops recording. So for anyone out there experiencing that, set your exposure before filming. Or maybe get an iPhone 14? 🤷🏻‍♀️

They look different, but in many shots one is not really "better" than the other. The question is if you could get the results you wanted or if the system limited the opportunities of your artistic intention and expression. All in all for 99 % of wide angle shots no one needs a real camera any more, at least not for content made for smartphone consumption.

@@NurProperties Yeah! Wouldn’t recommend it though. White balance on people will be changing constantly and will probably make them look weird and can ruin footage sometimes. Safe settings are: ISO 400-800, 24fps or 23.98, 1/50 shutter speed, white balance 3200-5500 adjusting from shot to shot, and lowest aperture # your lens can do. If it’s too bright you’ll need a variable ND to darken or just crank shutter speed and lower ISO if you have to.

I thought the footage from A) was better than B) I've been struggling with this idea that in order to be taken seriously you cant show up with an Iphone to a shoot. In my opinion the newest iphone is so much better than shooting on any of the pro cameras. The quality of the footage is undetectable to the average human eye. All broadcasting is primarily done in 1080p. Any time i shoot and edit a video using an iphone 13pro max people think it was shot on a pro camera. The whole process from shooting to editing is so much easier and more creative. If i had my choice i would shoot everything on the iphone. But since people still expect to see expensive equipment in order to justify paying your rate i have to show up with the pro camera and lens.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo

I would do what gets the best results in the end. Optics (how things appear) are a funny thing but I get it from a client perspective! Anytime I have a cinema camera or extra lights to set up they always think it’s a big deal. What camera are you using ? Wonder if it’d be worth it to upgrade to level everything up and charge more??
@rogue1media
@rogue1media Год назад
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I suppose it all depends on the people who are paying. It;s like you said optics plays a major role in the perceived value. Theres no getting around it unless you are able to produce the entire project without the client watching the process. We should be clear that this is all pertaining to real estate videos. I dont think we are trying to ditch the pro gear for the iphone. But for real estate absolutely. There is no reason not to shoot every house with an iphone and gimble. I think once you have gained the trust of the client and they are happy with the results they wont even think about what you are using. Especially if you show up with the phone rigged out on a cage. I've decided i'm going to start doing it from now on and see how it goes. I think the drone is enough to impress them with production value. Hi Taylor, another great video Definitely DR is better on the iPhone for video, since A7iii only has 11 stops of DR in video mode and is only 8bit A7iv is coming with 15stops of DR in video mode an is amazing, only cons is when shooting in 4K 60fps with a crop of 1.5 I’m actually doing most of the basic Real Estate videos with the iPhone since the 11, better with the 12, and now with the 13. Ultra wide angle still needs a bigger sensor like the one in the wide angle for low light, but is definitely better than the 12 In your video I can see better quality with the A7iii, but better DR with the iPhone and for this particular video the vibrance of the iPhone gives better colors Your work and the way you present your videos is amazing, congratulations 👍

Really dug this video. I shoot real estate and am amazed at what you showed us with the iPhone 13 Prores. I may just buy one and try it out for a bit. Most of my videos are 3 minutes long so the file size isn’t that big a deal for me. Most homes I shoot are average everyday homes as well. About once a month I might get a really nice modern new build. The ease of use and light weight might be exactly what I need for my type of work? Get me in and out of the house much faster. Watched your vid on a desktop as well as an iPhone. Both looked great. I was amazed at how there was no noise in the shadow area on the iPhone 13. I tried a similar test on my iPhone 11 and the shadows were plugged with noise. I liked the dynamic range slightly better on the iPhone than the Sony but the Sony seemed like the color was a bit better at times. But overall nothing that the average viewer is ever going to notice and definitely if you aren’t viewing it side by side for comparison. Thanks for creating this.

Hey! I'm not sure since I haven't used an a6400. I know lots of people like them for Real Estate though. Phone files aren't that bad. You can do proxies now with the Blackmagic Camera App & get better overall quality. But the normal files are bigger on the app too. i do walkthrough videos and I find when panning on iphone 12 at 4k 60fps it kind of looks stuttery
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 2 года назад
Hey! I’ve noticed that too sometimes. It’s probably because of the shutter speed and how the phone adjusts it. For rooms that are brighter it is probably too high, for rooms too dark it’s probably too slow which can both cause it to look a little off sometimes. Only real solution is to use variable ND filters and an app to get manual control of your settings (shutter speed mostly). Have you tried filming at 24fps? If you’re not doing slow motion that should help some to look more natural.

@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Early on shooting real estate, I had the GoPro 10, but sold it because of the horrible wide angle bowing and how poorly it performs in low light. The warping could not be corrected in post, that's how bad it was. They did improve the sensor slightly, but certainly nothing I would ever use on a consistent basis. However, the 11 does perform decently when shot in linear on sunny days in well-lit homes with an open floor concept. These are the only conditions I would ever use the GoPro 11. It's just fun to challenge yourself with lesser gear every once in a while. But for 95% of my video shoots, I'll stick with my Canon M50 aps-c, Laowa 9mm f2.8 and Weebil S. The 9mm equates to a 13mm full frame, plenty wide for RE. This Laowa is the reason I will never have to invest in a full frame camera. It's real estate powerhouse!

It's absolutely crazy and a testament to the computational photography work they have worked on for so long that I actually preferred some of the iPhone shots where it pulled the windows a little better and some of the external shots. How incredible that we get to have these tools in such a small form factor. It was still quite easy to pick the iPhone shots and the A7SIII is obviously a great camera and phones still don't come close for proper cinematic shooting but on a more "video" style of work like real estate it's crazy how usable they are in a professional setting. I'm confident I could shoot with that and if the agent didn't see that I was shooting with a phone, they would be perfectly happy and not even notice. I'm waiting on my S22 Ultra to arrive which by most accounts the camera does seem on par with the iPhone 13 (though I do think Apple's computational/DR algorithms are better in these situations) and I'm actually planning on using it as a C-cam for some work and potentially even replacing my BMPCC4K on some real estate shoots to speed up workflow on the simple walkthrough shoots. Which is absolutely mad to even think about, but here we are

Sitting here on a 4K monitor cranking up the resolution output on the youtube video I can see a difference. Is it better? To me yes it is better, but.... Most videos and even photos are not going to be full sized prints. They will be posted on Zillow, or Instagram, or Facebook. Many folks will be viewing those images or video on their phones, or other devices. I think if you have proper composition, music choice, steady hands and walk, you will be just fine. Sure I could buy a $50,000 RED but why? Even the sunset photos from the dinning room were really close. I mean that sort of tells me unless you are really pushing the boundaries the differences are not going to be huge. Get some ND filters for the phone and it gets even closer. You would have blown out windows, and exterior shots will really pop more in color saturation. Let's also not forget post editing. Assuming you got all your shots pretty close, you will probably have a LUT you turn to every time. Then some minor tweaks, and throw on a water mark to send to the customer for approval!

Great question. I think it all depends on the agent and the results you’re able to give them. Do homebuyers care about or even notice the tiny difference in quality? = NO. Do 99% of Realtors? = NO. With the 13mm super wide angle lens, HDR video and superb stabilization, the iPhone definitely carries the most benefits. Editing is a breeze . Because Sony refuses to up their game with computational features in their cameras, they are quickly becoming surpassed by cell phones.
