I bought recently iPhone 13, as my first Apple device ever. I was thinking about iPhone 12, but battery life and bigger storage convinced me. It's a great great phone
I am also a first time iphone user that with 13. But battery draining fast even after trying all battery saving tips. Evryone saying its because the 15.4 update!!
you can still totally easily just directly buy the phone from apple in the US, the carriers just advertise it hard and lots of people are *used to* getting phones from carriers
@@panimala The good job Linus refers to the fact that out of the pool of applicants and potential hosts, Linus recognized Jonathan's talent and potential and picked him. This doesn't negate his work imo.
I’m sure plenty of other people have said this already, but I did want to take a moment to point out how utterly brilliant the name “Mac Address“ is. It’s also kind of stunning that it wasn’t already taken
@@theNimboo a MAC address is an an internet protocol and is a string of numbers used for identification of devices connecting to a network or something like that I don’t know exactly. they’re taking a generic tech term and using it as a play on words since this channel focuses on apple hence the MAC and address meaning the location of a place. the name fits well as this channel is a place to go for apple focused content
As a 12 mini owner I’m pretty jealous of the 13 mini’s battery life, though honestly I never ran my battery out during a normal day, it’s just too easy to quickly charge up so I just toss my charger in my backpack and off I go
@@offgun6466 The battery is shit if youre used to something like the iphone 11/11pro, but since i was upgrading from an iphone 8, its absolutely enough for me
I upgraded to a 13 pro max from a 6s plus, and man, I am loving it. After a days use, the battery has never fallen below 70% yet. The pro motion 120hz screen is amazing. I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a 60hz phone again. The camera are cool. I really only use them for sending snaps and taking pictures of homework. I got the 256gb model so I can film prores. I will more than likely never use the feature but I wanted the top of the line phone so I got the top of the line phone. I have seen so many people say "the Iphone 13 isn't an upgraded" and shit like that. Yeah maybe not from the 11/12 but guess what, you don't always need to go and buy the latest and greatest phone every year. For me, it was a huge upgrade and I am very happy with it.
ikr for me, theres no need to upgrade if someone using just a regular iphone 12 to upgrade into iphone 13, because for me its just feel like a waste of money, they should instead get an iphone 13 pro with 256gb of storage so that they can have the pro res feature and the 120hz display.
I also own the iPhone 6s (the regular size, NOT the Plus), and I already ordered my Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro (NOT the Max, but regular size) last week and is set to arrive in 3 weeks 😍 I can’t wait!!!, I’ve been using my 6s for the last 6 years man!!!, let’s see how this new phone turns out to be
Also still living with the 6S Plus. Love the headphone jack, and still getting updates... May bet one of the new ones soon (especailly for the LiDar since I am in engineering), but for now I am sticking to the 6S Plus.
I have the iPhone 11 and happy to stick with it for a few more years. My wife upgraded from iPhone 8 to 13 Pro and is loving the camera and additional features. She is getting into video and this was a good option to give her more range and such. Thanks Jonathon settled my mind to keep the 11 for a little while longer.
I went with the 12 mini last year near launch because I have smallish hands, and as an upgrade from my 7. I have not been upset except for FaceID’s struggles with masks. Probably going to go regular-sized in 3-4 years. One-handed operation isn’t as feasible as anticipated, and more screen and more battery is more better.
I went from the 12 mini to the 13 mini, and the increase in battery is noticeable to me. Admittedly, I don’t use my phone for much except for texting, light browsing and listening to music during my commute, but the 13 mini has never dropped below 55% before I get home, and it’s usually above 60%.
I was set on ordering a 13 Mini but went into an Apple store to check out the Pro and honestly the cameras and 120hz display sold me on getting the Pro. I have small hands and wanted one handed capability from the mini but I figured if I'm used to a XS and being able to one hand at times but get the bigger battery, better camera, and better display on a Pro then I'm willing to give up that one-handed operation for everything else since I'll be using this phone for the next 3-4 years anyways.
Really nice to hear someone who talks DOF, colour and contrast like a photographer. That's what I want to hear when talking about a phone camera because so many choices are baked in.
Loving this channel so much. The production values are wonderful, as well the thought put into keeping it visually interesting by using interesting shooting locations and well thought out reviews. I only wish Mac Address made more videos. I don't know who decides these things, but if it's Linus, tell him to put up some cash because there's enough gaming rig videos already! JEEEEEZ
I bought the iphone 13 and it's just simply great. It has never died on me in a single day when after heavy use. Iphone 13 has one of the best 60hz display and I won't be feeling slow at all bcz of the great software optimisation and animations. The cameras are top of the line. I do sometimes miss a telephone camera but even without it the camera system is just awesome
I upgraded to a 13 from an 11. I loved the bigger screen of the 11 (compared to the 6 I had before that) but always felt the device was cumbersome to hold in one hand. The difference in ergonomics between the 11 and 13 is striking. The 13 is much easier to manage with one hand, and it’s lighter to boot. Did I need to upgrade? No. But I’m glad I did. This is a phone that I will be able to use for 4+ years.
Just upgraded from an 11 as well and I am so happy with my decision to upgrade. This phone is awesome, the screen looks amazing, the camera is great, it’s fast. Very happy !
This is way more cinematic than many of the LTT videos and seems enjoyable. It's like a documentary or a commentary than an actual RU-vid video. Not gonna lie, I'm impressed
i think the most important thing to consider is that the 13 starts at 128gb where as the 12 starts at 64 and is an extra 100 for a 128gb model. making the 13 a really good deal
Was extremely excited about this one after seeing all the initial reviews and all iPhone 13 are out of stock for more than a month in my area. My excitement got wore off little by little and decided to use that money for the 13 pro to build a computer. Think my XR will give me a year or two
I got the iPhone 13 Pro at launch upgrading from the iPhone 12 Pro for the camera/smaller notch/promotion. But even having large hands, I'm tired of the large display. I bought a used Iphone 13 mini 128gb for 630$ shipped off swappa. Looking forward to it. After testing my friend's iphone 12 mini, it just just felt right and my hand felt less tired trying to use the phone one handed. Keep making great videos MA!
I'm an iPhone 8 Plus user for a few years now. Been tempted to upgrade to a 12 (or even now, a 13), but the size difference and lack of touch ID have been the deciding factors for me. I also can't really justify upgrading when my current one still works perfectly well. Who know, maybe by the time I NEED an upgrade, it'll be time for the iPhone 20 or something
Hi , I too was wondering if I’d miss Touch ID home button , and yes I do , ( bought the 13) , however what you gain more than makes up for it , Face ID really is fast and reliable , and you’ve always got the double press side button option ( better than I make it sound ) ……given you are on an 8 , as you’d expect the internals being better is expected , however , the screen and battery life experience is beyond expectations and will leave you with no regrets about upgrading ….
@@kevanmcnay3079 What timing! I actually just upgraded over Black Friday weekend to the 13 (though I'm still waiting for it to arrive in the mail). Didn't expect to, but a good price deal coinciding with switching cell providers and I just decided to give it a go
I switched from Iphone 7 to the 13 pro using apple's financing option, every simple. And the 13 pro is just phenomenal. It's like from using a "wired" phone to a 2 day battery phone. I can finally ditch the huge battery bank and never worried about it during the day.
Your videos are very helpful. It focuses more on real life situations rather than specs and thermals 👍 I was checking out 13 and 13 mini just yesterday. If it wasn't for the notch i would have already purchased one. Gonna wait one more year!
Great video Jonathan , outdoor cinematography is superb here. Your point about how long iphones last is spot on. I'm here on my iPhone X and still searching for a reason to upgrade (can't find one). Choosing an iPhone is like choosing a mate - you gotta get it right ..
Loving my 13 mini. This is the perfect size for me as I use my phone for smaller and simpler tasks and go to my iPad to tasks where I want the bigger screen.
Everyone holds their phones in different ways, lol. There isn't a "right way" or standard on how to hold your phone -- it's very individual and depends on how comfortable it feels to the specific person... Edit: also, he's left-handed ( see 8:20 ), so he presses the button to capture with the iPhone rotated on its right side, leaving the bottom facing the left for his thumb to press that on-screen button.
erm is it a problem tho? im also hold it like that, cause im worried that i could have accidently dropped my slippery glass back phone, im using a samsung s21 plus btw even tho the back is not really slippery cause it has frosted glass back, but still im a little bit concerned that i could dropped it, sorry for bad english
@@adibafiq6945 I would recommend buying a case to hold it more securely. However you hold it is fine as long as you use both hands; even how the gentleman in the video is holding it is okay.
@TheRealBandito The Galaxy phones in the same categories have an extra camera, better screens, batteries etc, so you're basically paying for easy to use software nowadays. Also you can get an S21 5G+ for 450$ on my region right now which is newer than the iPhone 11 and has twice the storage by default.
getting the 13 is enough for me honestly. funny enough, the sponsor is also what charger i use. as someone who uses the phone non-stop (while keeping the battery between 40-80%), i only have to plug my phone for less than an hour about 2x a day. but on days where i'd have to go out, the battery does last a long, long time.
Apple focused on the most important aspects of the phones, the screen, battery, camera, and storage. All got an improvement. No way would it be worth the upgrade from a 12 series, or even an 11 series, but IMO anything before that, you'd see a big difference.
Hi, I am 36 old mum working from home, so no really IT person. I bought iPhone 13 and thought i it would be enough. After 14 days I switched to 13 pro version because of the camera. And I am no photographer. Digital vs optical zoom is a big difference. Photos when the object moves also (children do not wait for the photo). Photos in dark were quite similar but there was big difference with photos against the sun. Also the battery is slightly better, but not big deal for me…
This seemed like a different format from your other videos, and it didn’t feel as cookie cutter as every other iPhone review does. This was a great video
I wish my 12 mini was the same red as the 13 mini. It’s less salmon and more red. Luckily I found a super thin metal case that color with a lovely satin finish which fixes both the finger prints and color perfectly.
Still no Apple User (PC / Android) but I love how Jonathan presents the Apple cosmos and I can get all the infos I want when talking tech with friends and family - to know the other side also. Thanks for this, and keep up the good work. PS: I love that many fotos are not shot in the studio but outdoors, its refreshing
I just went with the 13 mini this year, even though I had a regular 12 last year because I couldn’t stand the bigger size of smartphones nowadays, even after using it for 9 months. The 13 mini is the right size for me and the fact that it had an actually decent battery life for my use, makes it a phone that can last me further than 3 years.
@@rehmanali2895 personally, I recommend the 13 mini. The battery life is good enough for most people and even the screen size is pretty big for most forms of media consumption. The “normal” size 13 is extra in my opinion. I guess if you prioritize screen size or battery life because you are more of a power user, then sure the regular 13 is the better choice. But my default recommendation is the 13 mini.
@@Marngel I have a doubt that the regular 13 cameras are better than 13 mini, even though they're considered identical. What are your thoughts on this? Also, are you liking 13 mini cameras for videos specially?
@@rehmanali2895 the cameras between the regular 13 and 13 mini should be identical. From my experience, the 13 mini takes excellent photos and videos. It shouldn’t be a concern.
I love my 13 in Starlight. The 13 Pro Max was to big for me so I sold it. Got the regular 13 and it's still a very good upgrade to my 12 Pro and the weight difference is massive...
I had the 13 pro for 10 days and returned it for a regular 13. The pros are just getting too heavy. The weight is a massive difference to me. The weight shifts to the top with the pro too because of the cameras so it’s just more awkward in the hand. The weight on the regular 13 is more even. I’ll miss out on some features but whatever I don’t need a brick in my pocket or in my hand.
I just bought my Iphone 13 last week. Didn't have a plan, Didn't have an old iphone to trade in. I got it on discount promo plus a free wireless charger. It was a good deal!
Me before getting into iPhones: "Bruh, iPhone 13 looks like a filler phone. Just a placeholder that doesn't change anything. Me when I finally get into iPhones through the 13 series: "It's pretty good. Last and best of the iPhone X design series. Good colour choice"
Coming from a Samsung A71 the iPhone 13 blue feels a world apart so fast and with amazing cameras and lovely software and a great-display. Well done Apple
I bought an SE 2020 last year after upgrading from an original SE cause I like the smaller size, but I'm kicking myself now as the 12 mini came out right after I bought it. Once I'm done paying it off next year I'm debating getting a 13 mini once the next models come out.
I accidentally confirmed that it's 100% water tight :). And yes, it's hard to train the battery (3x full to empty when new) as it takes two days to drain. As for not getting a charger in the box, you can actually hook it up to a Qi 4 capable supply (read: more oompf than the "traditional" charger) and it'll charge faster, at around 12..14W.
Even though I am jealous of the bigger storage on the base model, I think I am going to stick to iPhone 12 mini up until iPhone 15 or 16, maybe even 17. It's perfectly fine for me, after a half year of usage, and I think I other, than the bigger base storage and better battery, all these improvements don't really impress me that much. I think they are nice, but not worth my money.
I'm certainly more of a fan of the 12's blue than the 13's blue. I hope they don't shift their colors too often I like the choice but don't want the shades shifting each year.
I have an 11 Pro that I bought shortly after it was released. So it's a tick over 2 years old now. Still has 90% battery capacity left... The photo-quality of the 13 Pro is clearly better -- but not so much better that I'm willing to go through the hassle and cost of the upgrade. I think I'll be sticking with my 11 Pro for awhile longer yet.
how many more years do you think you'll keep it, provided that it doesn't slow down or show any issues? i'm trying to decide whether or not it's worth it to get an 11 Pro since the price of it used is pretty cheap, but i'm worried about it not having 5G.
@@idontknow-tj5vo I'm thinking another 2 years or so. Maybe 3? My wife has an iPhone X, which is just a bit over 4 years old now. It's finally starting to show its age. Seems like 5 years is about the limit for a top-of-the-line iPhone.
Upgrade from my iPhone 12 Pro? Nah, too small of a difference. Will probably get the 14 or 14 Pro as a replacement. Skipping one or two generations makes more sense to me…
Believe it or not, your review reminds me Sir David Attenborough. Your body language, your talking style even the environment tells me that. Good review.
