What a beautiful device. 😍 I don’t have an iphone but in my android I’m very consistent in 30%-80%/85% charging habit. I’m very anxious to my battery health. And I don’t let my battery overheat. every time I feel the heat in the battery, I stop using my device. 😅

Many people mistakenly follow advice from youtubers to maintain battery health by not charging beyond 80% and avoiding drops below 20%. However, this practice often leads to excessive charging throughout the day, which can indeed be counterproductive for battery longevity. It's important to strike a balance between avoiding excessive charges and not letting your device's battery level drop too low consistently.

Great video. I’m watching on the iPhone 14 pro that I got at launch. I’m at 91% but I also use a 20 watt charger as my regular charger. Now when I get the battery replaced, I’ll use the 5 watt overnight like you did. But, my 13 did not get as bad this fast. When I traded my 13 after a year I believe I was still at 97%.

I’m still at 100% on my Pro. I use the MagSafe charger. I have a timer on my power strip that turns it on to charge a bit right before I wake up. I usually take it off the charger around 80 to 90% when I wake up, and place it on there around 50% before bed. Basically I’m not a heavy user and my little setup keeps the battery in a healthy range with little thought into it.

When I had my iPhone 11 Pro Max, I pretty much strictly used the 20w fast charger, rarely using 5w, and keeping my battery mainly between 30-80%. Had the phone for about 4 years and battery health was 88%. Just wanted to share my experience, maybe keeping the battery between 30-80% is key? I think I remember the battery health taking a hit whenever I went 100% or it dead the few times over the years.

This is great! I charge my IP11 from 25-30% with 20W Original plug charger but I make sure to unplug it once I've reached 100%. So far so good with the battery health over years. I did the same to my IP14P, over 11 mos, it still remains 100%. I also charge at night 6:00PM to 7:30PM to unplug estimated time before I go to sleep/dinner. Even if I wake up my charge is still 100%. Consider the environment, make sure you have cool room temp. When it comes tp usage, I stop taking pictures/filming whenever I felt heat from my iphone. I waited for it to cool down to start taking pictures again outdoors.

i am currently using an iphone 13 as my first iphone after around 7 years of being an android user. all these battery health thing is new to me and i just try to compile as many inputs as possible. i have come to a conclusion that using wireless charger is not a recommended thing to do regularly as there is a lot of power being unused and lot of heat are being generated compared to traditional wired charging. as for the watt i believe using 5W charger will highly limit my comfort in using my phone, i will just avoid charging overnight and wait for the morning to charge since it is already a fast charging so i know i will have time before i need to go somewhere. i also try to avoid wireless magsafe powerbank as the heat from powerbank combined with the heat of the phone will damage the battery health drastically based on the experience of the people i have read online. nonetheless, i hope my way of charging is good and would allow my iphone to be at its best performance through the next 3+ years. nice entertaining but still informative video dion, thanks.

*Hold up this comparison is kinda useless unless you check the cycles and battery health percentages the phones came at with CoconutBattery.There can be up to 5-6% variances when iPhones are shipped from the factory. Some come with 106% battery health.* So you'd have had to plug both iPhones into a Mac with CoconutBattery Plus running on it to get that on the first day, then track over time. Otherwise everything is pretty much just a guess due to manufacturing variances.

To many people let battery health affect them too much. Use your phone and enjoy it. If battery gets below 80% health just replace it. Most people gonna easily get over 2 years before battery health gets to 80%.

my iphone 14 pro max has 100% battery after a year ( I ordered on launch day for the satellite sos feature ) I almost always charged with 5 watt.. This seems to be the key... Keep that battery as cool as possible for as long as possible... I'll watch youtube/twitch for hours and hours straight.. Which is really light weight load... Trying to get 5 years out of this phone.. as I'll probably get an android. I'm hoping the watch will work with the iPad in the future and not need the phone.

Hey @dion . 100% battery capacity for an iPhone 14 pro after 1 year. How? Based on the calculations made and applied we lose 1% battery every 25 complete cycles (0-100%) charge which is 4% every 100 complete cycles. Apple’s website suggests that an iPhone will retain up-to 80% of its original battery capacity after the first 500 cycles I am sure that the data shown here isn’t quite right. I use an XR which is 4 years old and my current battery capacity reads at 87% which by the way is incorrect. In reality when I did the math it stands at 85.09%. I checked my current battery cycle count from the analytics logs and checked cracked the current percentage by my phone’s nominal charging capacity by its Max Charging Capacity. I am sure the same applies to your iPhone 14 pro too.

Hi, yes, that is what Apple informs us and in general it is right. However, there are so many factors that come into play. I agree that after one year the 100 % is technically not possible, but it is what is indicated, so probably it is being rounded. My 14Pro Max is 96% after one year.

This charger has a fan built inside to keep the phone cool whilst charging, which ESR term cryoboost, but i believe this helps the charging stick to a certian wattage all the way rather than going to the full and gradually come doing to a few watts. I also have some android phones and use the same charger for those aswell.

Hey thanks for the video! Very helpful, will use these tips for my iPhone 15 pro max that is coming this Friday. My 13’s battery went down the drain due to excessive use of MagSafe charging. I’m gonna follow your advise, ordered an oldskool 5w apple brick, and a usb-a to USB-c IF certified cable. Hopefully that will keep my phone healthy!

Overthinking about a phone's battery health is ridiculous. My 13 pro max is at 86% but I can still get 10 hours SOT lasting me 2 days. Just use the phone stop adding useless problems to you life.

That big charger, or the gan prime from Anker can charge TWO phones, for example, yours and your coworker, at top speed…OR your 14PM AND your iPADPro 12.9 overbite with smart charge turned on…..

Is it normal ? I was using 20watt charger and my 14pro is draining its battery percentage from 99 to 97 with 10 days after updating 17.0.2.Even though I maintained battery charging within 30-80 .😢 I only use this ph for webtoon reading and I don’t even charge overnight.

thanks so much for this video. I was almost sick to my stomach because I just purchased the iPhone 14 pro at Koodo with an offer that I just couldn't ignore. new phone with 1 TB for only 800 Canadian dollars and thought I made a mistake. but now that I know this vital info I feel better. I do have a concern, I have an 8-Port USB charger that says in the back USB Output: 5V===12A (max) / Each port 2.4A, Could you please tell me if that is ok for overnight charging?
@DionMedia
@DionMedia 9 месяцев назад
Hi, sorry for the late reaction. First of all, great price. Concerning the charger. I would go for a single port charger, 5W, overnight charging

This is what I think about the most and what I follow the most. So I want to ask you something, do you update the apps. Do you update the ios software? Have you always kept the phone up to date as applications and ios software. Were there times when you did the iOS software and did not update the applications. 14 promax 94% batter healt i did same things We charged our phone with almost the same logic.

The magsafe charger supports up to 15W. There will be a difference. I prefer, when possible to go for the lower W

heres a cap, battery also needs heat to operate appropriately because of the materials used. It was designed to take heat, so I’ll say enjoy your phone. Life is too short to be worried about batteries, just replace it if it reaches 80%.

it is heat that causes damage, so if you not in a hurry I always a low wattage

It necessary turn on the low power mode at all times? At normal using the iPhone 14 pro would get warm gradually,and I think that is bad to battery life. But turning on the low power mode the 120 hz promotion would be closed,and affect the experience of iPhone. (sorry about my poor English 😂)
