90% battery health on my 14 Pro Max. But the biggest disappointment is the bug that makes ProMotion games stutter after each touch input. Like Hill climb+, Crossy Road+, Alto's games stutter, despite them not being demanding. Worked fine with iOS 15. Please make this known so Apple fixes the bug.
@BespokeSlipp
@BespokeSlipp 11 месяцев назад
Man, that’s super annoying. I love the Alto games. Really hope this is addressed in iOS 17, especially with Apple’s gradual gaming “push” over the past couple of years.

My 14 Pro Max still has 100% battery life. I purchased it from Apple when it first came out. I’m a heavy user but don’t play video games on it. Mainly used for RU-vid videos, mail and heavy shopping.

I didn’t really want to get the 14 Pro Max but got a huge deal trading in my 13 Pro Max. In general, everything is pretty much the same, but I love that my shortcuts only occupy the dynamic island space instead of a whole banner while being executed. That is not a reason to upgrade at all, but is a great UI change.

I have 100% battery health. Bought my iPhone 14 Pro Max shortly after the 2022 launch. I am a heavy power user. I’ve never experienced overheating. Haven’t been able to reproduce lots of bugs that a lot of people have reported over the months. I just must be lucky I guess.

Conspiracy theory: Apple secretly changed to cheaper battery manufacturers to profit but the degradation is faster now so to mitigate this, they suddenly increased the battery capacities of the iphone 15 lineup. How very android of them 😅

Initially I thought the batteries in 14 ProMax is better than that of 13 ProMax as my 13 ProMax started to see 99% after 5 months and 14 ProMax was at 100%. However, I started to see degradation of the 14 after 6 months and it degraded almost like a cliff as you said. Now at 92%, it’s about the same as my 13 when it’s at the 11th month.

I was very disappointed with the battery life on my iPhone 14 Pro from day 1 when I got it, i even thought about getting the Max which i don’t like just for the extra battery life, after a couple of updates it got better lasting the whole day, but now again it’s bad, i think when you pay$1200 on a Phone it should last the whole day, no matter the size of the phone . My battery health it’s at 91% too with regular use. Im not gonna upgrade my pone this if the battery life doesn’t get better then the 14 Pro. I don’t care about any other features i just wants my phone to last me the WHOLE DAY. That’s all.

I have the 14PM, my wife has my old 11PM. I don't use my phone a ton, I'm at 98 percent. My wife is still above 90% on the 11PM. Even though batteries are getting bigger, & they are engineering these things to use batteries more efficiently, there are lots more functions that suck battery uses coming along every year. Always on display, dynamic island, taking more video/photos, etc. I think once you get off that 100% mark, which I think is kept there that long, somewhat artificially, you are getting a more true reading. Plus those percentages are just approximations. Batteries have finite lives. If you live on your phone, you are gonna chew up batteries.

And at night I always charge my iPhone using 5w wired charger (less heat). I rarely go below 50% battery, and use the 20W fast charger during the day when need but just to top it to 80-90% if I will use a lot at the evening. And I don't play games in the iPhone.

Hey guys! I think, there is another reason for the sudden drop in battery capacity. I suspect, smartphone manufacturers report less design capacity than actual is build in. So, they can achieve the "80 % of the (reported design!) capacity after 500 loading cycles." The side effect is, that the shown capacity stays at 100 % for a long time, because it's actually over 100 % of the design cap. and as soon as it reaches 100 %, it drops. Example -- a) Physical capacity 5000 mAh and design capacity 5000 mAh -> after 500 cycles 3600 mAh = 72 % of 5000 mAh -> FAILED! b) The same physical 5000 mAh with reported 4500 mAh (10 % cushion) -> after 500 cycles 3600 mAh = 80 % of 4500 mAh -> PASSED! In case b), the "Battery health" shown in iOS will remain at 100 % until 90 % of the physical cap. (4500 mAh) are reached and then seemingly drop immediately. Cheers 🤓

9:45 the issue is obviously not with the pixel count. Bigger aperture or something would be more helpful for noise and blur reduction than squeezing more pixels in there. You'd think a tech youtuber would have some sort of an idea how a camera works. S23 Ultra has a 12MP front-facing camera and takes better shot in good lighting conditions, so the pixel count doesn't really matter. However, all of the front facing cameras struggle in low-light scenarios because of small aperture and small sensor, a combination that is very inefficient at gathering light.

There’s definitely something wrong with those 14-series batteries. I’ve never seen them degrade this fast. I have an over a year old 13PM and the battery % just dropped to 99%. And I think it’s due iOS Beta’s.

I have been using it since the day it was released and only charge it with MagSafe, but battery health is still 95%. Most of the time I charge it once a day, and sometimes I charge it once more with a Magsafe-equipped mobile battery.

Mine's still at a 100% and I've had it since Sept 13th 22. I don't game on mine though so I'm not pushing it to the point of overheating. I mostly use it for social media, messaging, music, and Apple Carplay. I strictly wireless charge it and only plug it in when in the car to keep battery up for long trips. But that's not fast charging.

Do you let the iphone stop charging at 80%?
@xeon2k8
@xeon2k8 11 месяцев назад
it's even worse than fast charging, you are keeping the battery on a high state of charge. HIgher than 80 and lower than 20 really affects battery health, among other factors of course. Battery university website has a lot of info and studies on this. Also you are wireless charging, which is even worse than fast charging so im not sure why you brought up fast charging when every step you are taking is not remotely better than that lol
@kilruf
@kilruf 11 месяцев назад
@@xeon2k8 Well I'm still at 100% so I don't know. Just explaining what I do. Main thing is heat that will kill batteries. So if fast charging that heats up the battery more than MagSafe, then it will kill the battery faster. If MagSafe heats up the battery more than fast charging, then it will kill the battery faster. MagSafe being worse is just a myth. Having raced RC cars for over 30 years, heat kills batteries but its a trick we did with lithium batteries to lower ir for more "punch" in the throttle. Now battery temps are regulated to room temp for races. Heat in the battery was achieved by fast charge 40-60 amp and high discharge rates. Anyways, there are other factors that heat up batteries besides charging. And yes 20-80% or as close to 50% as you can keep it is best.
@kilruf
@kilruf 11 месяцев назад
@@dexsea24 I do not. I charge right up to 100% then pull it off the charger. I do not let it sit over night at 100%. At the end of the night if I'm below 70% then I'll toss it on the charger while I shower and wind down for the day. Then pull it off the charger before I go to bed. Sometimes, depending on usage, I can go 2 days between charges. But lately it's been every evening that I charge. But I never leave it on the charger over night.

I bought my iPhone 14 Pro Max on October 5, last year and the battery health is still 100%. I always use the Apple 29W charger. Never wireless charging, because that makes the battery much warmer - causes more stress on the battery. Wireless, by the way, isn’t really wireless is it…? You still need a cable… 😉 Even the great genius Tesla tried to invent wireless transportation of electricity but failed. So for me wireless is a bit of a hype.
@munkyzunkle1781
@munkyzunkle1781 7 месяцев назад
Whoa there... afaik Tesla didn't fail to make wireless charging work. He was successful but made the mistake of using funds from an investor(Edison I think?), to build Wardencliffe tower to experiment with the wireless trans tech, rather than it's claimed purpose for which the funds were supplied, and when that was discovered, Edison had the tower demolished, as the tech would have made it impossible to charge people for electric service, which was Tesla's intent all along. I apologize for being sketchy on the facts, but that's basically what happened according to several sources I found years ago while doing very casual research on the subject. It's interesting and well worth looking into. Have a great day! Peace.

I doubled my storage from 256gb to 512gb if it weren’t for that I would happily stay with my 13 Pro Max but upgrading saved me $25 of my monthly bill so far it’s OK I haven’t experienced the battery issues or any of the issues that are negatively impacting the 14 promax I have about two weeks to decide if I’m keeping my 14 promax or going back to my 13pro max

Larger MP count lowers the low light picture quality by making it harder for the sensors to take in light, the work around is to increase sensor footprint. That is a crap shoot in my opinion.

Yeah, I do a lot of editing and posting when I'm hiking outside and have a lot problems with the dimming and the overheating, but that's to be expected with any phone I suppose, but the most annoying thing really is the dimming, so I hope they make it better in the new iphone's
@munkyzunkle1781
@munkyzunkle1781 7 месяцев назад
That's actually not to be expected with any phone, it's mostly an iPhone issue. In my recent experience with 14 Pro Max, it did multiple things of it's own accord, regardless of how I had it set up, and it was new out of the box with zero defects or damage of any kind, iOS is just prone to making arbitrary settings choices, which has been confirmed even by many friends who love iPhone. I got the feeling that it's the end result of Apple caring more about what they want the phone to do than what the customer wants it to do. Hope this helps. Have a great day! Peace.
