Amazing video! This is a real review. No reading of the spec sheet which we all as consumers can do and every other RU-vidr does. Just pure testing and comparisons. Perfect. Someone on twitter was ranting earlier about how all Tech Reviewers are the same, thats true for everyone except this channel. I got tired of watching different videos about the 14 Pro Max and hearing the same marketing I got from the Apple Event. I watched the event, I dont need an unboxing of the device with the same speech. I need what you guys and gal are doing which is actually testing the new features. Bravo and I cant wait for the future videos on the new iPhones.
They forgot to mention the minimal focus distance from the Iphone 14. The minimal focus distance from the Iphone 14 is bigger than Iphone 13. In normal language: if you take a close up picture, you need to go backwards with Iphone 14. Otherwise it will not focus.
Nobody seems to do this kind of in depth testing like you guys. It's nice to get a normal consumer perspective on these products but since these are supposed "pro" products, it's nice to see how they hold up in extreme situations and not just benchmark scores. Good job.
I’m going to watch the video now, but I agree that we need more in depth reviews. I would even say more niche focused reviews. I personally do professional car photography and working outside at 90+ weather for hours at a time makes the 2k nits brightness 🔅 screen sound cool, but next Monday I’ll be finding out if it suffers from the dimming that the last iPhone 📱 also did which made that screen just barely bright enough due to heating. The new megapixels will help with some interesting shots that we just couldn’t do before due to the low 12 megapixel count of the older phones.
Still haven't figured out what's so special about the always on display. It was one of the first things I turned off when I got the 14. I mean the screen turns on if I pick it up or look at it, I don't want anyone else being able to glance at my phone, or have a dim night light while I sleep
It can tell if ur asleep and auto turns it off same if it’s in ur pocket and I found it useful while at work when I’m busy with other stuff I can quickly walk by my phone (have it on the table chilling and I can quickly see the time without having to go pick it up
The IPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are definitely not worth upgrading from especially camera wise. I have been unpleasantly surprised to see how overly warm some of the sample photos from the 14 Pro Max have been with too much saturation and over sharpening going on. Hopefully future software updates will sort this out. Video is stunning, as is that taken on the 13. Action mode is an aggressive but very useful software upgrade that will filter down to the 13 series hopefully. If Apple don't decide it would cost them money in IPhone 14 upgrade terms and not allow it to filter down to the 13 with the argument that only the chipset in the 14 Pro and Pro Max support it.

I just got this phone because it’s was cheap to upgrade (12 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max) and I immediately saw these upgrades that no one else spoke of. The sounds is DRASTICALLY louder, the battery life is better, the camera is amazing, phone is faster and smooth due to upgraded hardware. I can go on and on but it’s pretty nice.
@@trk4363 go for it, i’m upgrading to the 14 pm from my 3 year old xr which is still in good condition but the battery is at 79% and the display is pretty bad compared to newer phones so i really encourage you to upgrade to the 14 pm unless you want to hold out for the 15 next year!

Upgrading to a 13 pro or a 14 pro from a 12 pro is definitely an upgrade for the pro motion display. It makes a world of difference for everyday usage. Can’t go back after using it
My 13 Pro Max arrived 4 days ago, 21st in the afternoon, and the battery indicated 75%. I updated it to iOS 16, did a factory reset and started actually using the phone with a 70% charge. I charged it the next night (22nd) right before going to sleep and now I'm at 16%. So it's been 2 and a half days since I charged it. This thing is absolutely insane. I come from a Galaxy S22. There's just absolutely no comparison. I was planning on actually getting a 14 Pro Max, but after seeing that the pill sits lower than the notch, I decided it wasn't for me.
The battery life was the biggest shock to me switching from Android. Honestly, everything else is pretty comparable, but the battery life of the iPhone absolutely destroys my Note 20 Ultra’s battery life.

@@ebubeawachie it's not about the time. But since the phones are at such close proximity to each other, there can be some interference. Its apparently shown since even though the phones were at the same location iphone 14 had lower signal strength.
This review was great; without the other “fluff”. It told me things I didn’t know; the speaker improvement hasn’t been mentioned anywhere else. The comparative scores are interesting in that they’ve not changed form previous models. Awesome review!

I have with iPhone 14 pro (not Max), 1879 single- and 5506 multi-core. My Result is upload on GeekBench DB Internet (User ruh). For me have the Pro and Pro Max the same Top Speed (in sprints. May be not in thermal long runs ?) Different Settings or Phone internals ? (Different component Supplier for Apple ?) After a long time with big Phones since iPhone 8 Plus, now i changed for Handling and Comfort to the smaller Pro (and happy with the Screen size on Apps like Math., Fligtht-Infomations and Astronomie etc. Video „Longviews“ only on iPad or Airplay TV. Longtime Video view never used on iPhone or Pro Max). For worst case extended usability i have the Magsafe Batterie (only Reserve and never need now (Tests on YT have approx. less than 20% different on Battery level with iPhone 14 Pro Max vs Pro (approx. 10h usability vs 8:40h on same conditions)). The IPad mini 6 (A15) has the best gamplay tested by YT Golden Reviewer (Thermal ? better as the A16 on 14 Pro max (second fastest Device after iPad Mini 6) and better as an iPad with M1 Processor).
13 pro max is a 5 year king phone because of his battery performance 120hz display. But 12 pro is not in same category. If someone have -3 pro max wait for atleast iphone 18

Let’s keep this on file, and when the next latest models get released, we compare again. Some suspect that, just before the latest devices get released, a software that degrades the older models gets released first, to make the new latest ones stand out as more superior.
What reviewers doesnt tell you is that: 1. Dynamic Island is terrible in direct lighting 2. Dynamic Island requires 2 hands to operate. Unless you have a very long thumb. 3. Dynamic Island is designed for portrait use.
I ran a storage speed test on my 13 Pro Max 512GB right after seeing this video and my result is almost identical to the 14 Pro Max, I’m not sure how did you get such a low result on your 13 Pro Max, is that 256GB?
Cameras in part are limited by their physical makeup. But even the iPhone 7 could have much better photos and videos if Apple wanted it to. Cameras today are not like your grandparents cameras. Back then, what you bought was what you got. Some cameras you could swap out lenses but the average person had a camera that you put a film cartridge in to, point and shoot, and develop. Today there are cameras that when first released (these were on phones and the one I’m thinks of was an android and possibly a pixel) were total dog poop, it had serious issues with focusing properly. But with a software update, became very good if not spectacular. Todays cams are more about processing power and software than they are lenses and prism’s. Sure you have to have good lenses on your phones cam, but the real work is done inside. The 7/7+ phones could be so much more, soon to be 8/8+/10. Apple has zero commitment or gratitude to the customers that bought the billions of phones and other products. Who cares that a phone that should have 4 more years of life is being thrown away as garbage. Apple says it’s trying to reduce e-waste while at the exact same time deliberately causing e-waste. Here’s the truth. All of the 14 models released here in the USA should not be bought. Apple makes out like it is so hard to swap a SIM card from one phone to another. The physical act is not the challenge for most. More people have problems understanding the software and technical problems of the new forced esim. Esim is no different than cdma. Sprint or Verizon. No physical SIM card. With GSM ie ATT or TMobile. If your phone craps on you in a inconvenient place or time. You can buy any unlocked 4G lte capable phone and just swap the card to the new phone and turn it on. With esim it is much more complicated and often times requires you to go to a provider location. Possibly pay much more for a new phone, possibly pay for having the people behind the counter help you. And what if there is no ATT, no TM, no Verizon store within 50 or more miles. Forced ESim is total BS. So no mater how good the camera is. The screen, the sound, what ever. 1000.00 is not worth paying to be shoe horned out of having controls over how you use the device/phone that you paid your hard earned cash for.
I like that Apple cares about my financial well-being and doesn’t make me want to buy their new phone. Truly inspirational and socially responsible company!
Fantastic detailed comparison, there are some clear improvements, though not huge they are there. Happily going on with my 13 Pro Max, but I think people coming from 8 Plus, Xs Max and even 11 Pro Max will see substantial gains when going to 14 Pro Max.
I have an iPhone 13, I’ll be upgrading to 14 Pro Max, as pro max is the mobile I want to have from now on. It’s a good upgrade from regular 13 model but I don’t think there’s any sanity in upgrading from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max unless you just want a new iPhone every year or 2

Wow the speakers really impressive. I have the 13 Max and they're already awesome. Huge improvement over 11 Max. So good I don't even prefer the 12.9 iPad for listening to something anymore. Another step up means they must be incredibly good.
@@Nala_1230 yes no question they're better. But the 13 pros are so good I don't bother to get my iPad to listen to stuff like when eating. The experience is absolutely satisfying, which wasn't the case on previous iPhones.

Changed my iPhone X to 13 pro last year, barely feel any difference in daily use. Maybe better battery life since it was new, and better camera. I still remember when I changed my iPhone 4 to 5s, 5s to 6, 6 to x, I just felt tons of happiness and surprise. iPhone is getting boring now. They are just improved on tech numbers every year.
I'd agree with this 👍🏻 The 6S+ is the last iPhone that blew me away. I've done nothing but bleet about the XS Max and my 12 Pro Max especially the damn bulk and weight of the things.
It’s the smallest upgrade from gen to gen since I remember. Specs aside majority of people don’t zoom in don’t crop the pictures - so 48Mbpix camera does little to nothing. Comparing actual pictures side to side there is plenty where look better on 13 pro whereas 14 pro is again only when you zoom in digitally and lose resolution. So to me it’s not better. There is nothing really interesting about this phone to upgrade from 13 pro.
@@whitecrowuk575 much better display, much better speakers, interactive notch design, always on display, better camera, etc. The differences between the last few gens was smaller. Except the 120 Hz every iphone felt the same and now we have a new control system for multitasking applications which can be a killer feature in the future
@@wh1t3608 definitely not smaller - 12 pro to 13 pro was significantly better camera. 14 pro doesn’t bring anything that useful. Majority is software implementations. Improved cinematic sure is nice not that used it at all in past year. For bloggers sure. Bigger sensor same but in typical use no change. Some pictures actually do look worse. Screen brighter - except for 2k boost it’s not really visible - how we perceive brightness is exponentially so 40% brighter we barely can notice. Side effect That will tax battery more so in typical use outside should expect lesser battery now. As shown now it will be bigger area that’s hotter. 13 pro can get hot sometimes but this will be much worse to hold a hot potato. So not sure if I want that. All in all for very tiny number of people some of those features will be worth for majority won’t. I expected something better in camera department like 5x optical zoom for instance - but they made bad 2x (crop) instead. Lack of ideas? Looking at the competition - they don’t sleep and slowly and steadily overpass iPhone in this - already pixel managed in photos it’s just a matter of time when will do in video. They couldn’t even give us usb c

I was very close to buying the 14 Pro Max and trading in my 13 Pro Max yesterday with Apple. I pulled out the last minute just knowing i will honestly see no difference in the two phones - it’s just a “psychological” thing and showing off the silly island notch thing. I might in fact go to Samsung for the Fold 4. I’m tired of waiting for Apple to introduce something mind blowing for once. Also, it’s a red flag when reviewers are starting to LOOK for changes and comparing camera and width sizes etc.. that’s how much Apples just doesn’t seem to change but still manages to take your money. Meanwhile Samsung are introducing flip phones, 8k cameras etc etc.
Hate to tell it to you but Fold 4 is gimmicky as well. It is too thick of a phone for everyday use especially if you are putting it in your pocket. I like the Flip 4 that I have in its form factor but the battery drain even on idle is not good. Samsung needs to fix it since it isn’t an Android feature by itself. Motorola phones don’t have as much battery drain as Samsung devices.
Hey guys, I've seen it before. When you test cellular data performance it varies too much and isn't a reliable representation of the actual modem performance with such a bad reception. To judge overall modem performance it's best if you test them all in an open place closer to a tower.
Agree, as someone in the telecom business I would take it a step further and say the only way to test is within a mobile operators lab under controlled test conditions with real test equipment and recorded results
@@tabboo5576 You may be right, but as a means for them to roughly test modem performance for the end user, they should use a selected spot with optimal reception. (this way modem software algorithm will play a smaller role)
I just noticed that after updating to 16.0.3 in iphone 13 promax my battery is draining faster and my battery Health dropped from 98 to 95%. Am i the only one?
It sucks knowing that iphone 14 pro uses smart hdr 4 used in the 13 pro image processing too which means same over-sharpening and crushed shadows issues.
4nm is the third iteration on 5nm process from TSMC so it is not a huge leap from what we got on A15. A16 should be on 3nm but Covid happen. I believe the gain we see on larger 14 Pro Max variant are due to how the phone can handle much higher freq while keeping the thermal output identical to its 13 Pro Max counterpart with its slightly better 4nm process. No IPC gain I can see here.
I'm upgrading from my X this year, and I'm super hyped about those speakers! Even if the CPU/GPU upgrades are only incremental this year, it'll be a HUGE leap from what I have now~ Great video!

I had been planning to switch since 2019, then last year.. either did not want to get bothered with iOS to Android chat apps messages and data transfers, copy paste shit, or put hold on the switch cause "errmmm yeah this year`s iPhone is nice , but NEXT year this and this will be upgraded..." yeah, always something new coming, but really, next year there is USB-C, a proper milestone and turning point, together with 3nm A17 Bionic (maaaybe better camera zoom too).. 13 Pros would have basically done it for me, great battery and all other bits, but I am just about ok with the X for now .. battery at 78 percent original capacity, but it does alright, I work as a chef so not much time to use it at work haha..
@@shitmir Honestly, I'd hold onto my phone for another year or two if it weren't for the poor performance, battery life, and (the main reason I picked out the 256GB model on the Pro Max) my lack of storage. I had to wipe my phone a few months ago because it ran out of storage and got bricked, it almost happened again yesterday (got stuck in a "boot loop" of sorts, where the phone would crash whenever I tried to unlock it, forcing me to hard restart), but I was thankfully able to access my camera roll through Siri and delete a few videos that way, haha. If you don't need those upgrades, ain't no point in upgrading!
@@oshotz yeah, I have 64gb X, so quite often see I am close to 59gb or so, then I delete some pictures and videos, most definitely I dont need to keep anyway.. the notch is getting a bit old, I am in love with some of this year UDC phones and uninterrupted screen display. but really love the way this 5 year old grandpa works, STILL, probably one of the last iOS updates, esp banking apps and such, regular security and maintenance updates are much appreciated and help my peace of mind...
i think i’ll stick with my 13 pro max, i don’t like the eSIM and it has the same chip set that the 13 has, the camera upgrade is nice, but i don’t think it’s worth the price

I don't think it is the correct way to test 5G/LTE speed. As network based on different factors decides on the speed of concrete client. That means that on the same phone just with interval in a minute you can get dramatically different speeds. Correct way to test is to make multiple runs and calculate average
Great video, probably the best comparison video on right now. Btw with the Geekbench results, my 13 pro results are slightly better with the new ios16 update. I managed to get single core: 1745, Multicore: 4864
I have the 13 Pro, and it’s incredibly frustrating how often it overheats and dims to the point that I can barely see the screen. It will even get hot and shut down some functions. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I live in Alabama, where it can get extremely hot, but it should be a lot better. It sounds like the 14 is better but still a big disappointment. This is one of the reasons I’ve considered switch to Samsung. The other thing that is inexcusable at this point, since they love to talk about how powerful the chip is, is the lack of multitasking.
One thing I hate about my iPhone 12 pro max is the warm tint display. I always preferred cool over warm. To see that back on the 14 sucks, but thankfully there’s a color filter setting to change the color tint.

From a person who transitioned from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max, i can safely say that the improvements are evident. Outdoor brightness is phenomenal. Its very smooth too n camera’s are a big upmove. Always On Display isn’t something great but Dynamic Island is something Apple can definitely take advantage of in gradual updates. Overall its a good upgrade.
@@farouq143 i have 14 Pro Max 256 gb Variant Bro. For me it is more than enough as regular backups on Mac n icloud provides added peace of mind for data protection n honestly 256 is sufficient provided you are not a Big photographer/Videographer. Hope this helps bro.
Did you show a downsampled comparison to 12mp compared to a same shot taken normally on the 13? I would love to see that because sometimes you want the high quality, but not 48mp worth.
The Dynamic Island is a gimmick that will go the way of force touch in a couple of years. I am an iPhone user and just not buying the Island hype. Next they will lower it to the middle of the screen and make it even bigger and convince everyone that it's now easier to reach. 🙄

Just bought a brand new 13 pro max one TB in alpine green for 950 UK pounds,warranty with apple to Oct next year and 24 month warranty with Giffgaff network,the 14 pro max one tb is near double the price at 1750 here in the UK and I can't see any real improvement,the improvements between the 12 pro max and 13 pro max were far greater,the larger battery,the pro motion and even the A14-A15 performance improvement was greater than the A15-A16.I think the real game changer will be the iPhone 15 pro max with a CPU that's a real improvement and most likely a five x zoom.
@@ryanscott4866 if you have the option to get either and have your mind set on it, I’d get the 14 simply out of being being more future proof(it’s the newest one). The dynamic island is going to be a hit or miss depending on who you ask so you’d have to look into it. I think it’s overall better but video watching can be a bit irritating(video is playing around it so it’s weird). Speed and battery life is basically the same even tho the 13 pro max somehow has a bit of a better battery(test vary but either way it’s not significant enough to be a deal breaker) But if you have a 13 pro max, I definitely wouldn’t upgrade unless it’s free. If you have anything earlier or a regular 13, the 14 isn’t a bad option. So it’s really going to be entirely on your position because both phones are great.
If they extend the camera bump across the top of the back or along the length of it, like some Androids do, it would stop the wobble and give additional space for more hardware.
If somebody could answer: fantastic, Most screen protectors you order are full screen (covers the dynamic island) but I feel like if there is a speaker notch in the dynamic island with the cam/faceid, is this screen protector going to interfere with the speaker notch, or is there not a speaker notch in the screen anymore?? Nobody is covering this in this reviews.
You did cover the 5g antenna on the iPhone 14 pro when they were side by side and I’m sure it’s the reason it scored worse indoors than it would otherwise unobstructed
