Although I've been using Galaxy phones since the Galaxy Nexus, then I came back for the Note2 and stuck around ever since. I still look forward to Apple and everyone else's improvements to keep Samsung on its toes. Competition is good us all.

Totally agree!!! It's the competition (especially Apple) that forces Samsung to work on video quality, animations, etc. Now, the high-resolution modes are becoming an issue (kind of): I still can't believe that Apple has managed to make 24mp photos without compromising the HDR or the processing time.

@girardjeremie1939 I'm still on the S22U which is the best phone I've ever owned. And the camera is insane. But I do look forward to getting the S24U because after seeing how much better the camera's video quality and stabilization are on the S23U I can only imagine how polished everything will be on the S24U.

Samsung user since S10 switched from iPhone. Each September I watch reviews on the latest iPhones looking for a good enough reason to go back to iPhone but find myself sticking with Samsung each time. Both are great devices but I just think Samsung is better for me and iPhone lacks features I love on Android.

@@pauloarenas4956You're right, to each his own. Both are great phones. Competition is much tighter than it used to be. For those who say either Android or IOS is garbage they are not being truthful because they are both good. Maybe someday I will give Apple another shot, but for now I prefer Samsung so much more.

I am the same with S10e. Every year I watch some vids to quickly realise new phones are like 5% better and my s10e never missed a beat, never froze or did anything that truly makes me want to upgrade. It works consistently amazing w excellent flat screen, headphone socket, sdcard and great camera. And it's and Exynos variant not the Snapdragon and I never had any hiccup.

I tried the iPhone 15 Pro after having a Pixel 6A and felt a lot of the same things. It made me appreciate Android a lot more, things like the back gesture would just make sense on iOS and it feels incomplete without it. I ended up returning the iPhone and got an S23+ and have loved it! Still, since I have a Mac and had several iPads throughout the years I really wanted to like the iPhone so I'm hoping they step up their game next year.

I tried to make the switch to the 15 pro max, but coming from a S23 ultra it just didn't make sense...it felt like a sideways "upgrade" in terms of the phone. Don't get me wrong it's great, but so is the s23 ultra and the s23 ultra is considerably faster at navigating, has a better web-viewing and notification experience.

Might as well carry a mini iPad if you have an S23 ultra!? My brother (God rest his soul) had an S22 ultra and I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and it is 6.7 inches and the ultra just felt too big for pockets!? iPhone 16 pro max are talking 6.9 inches and if that’s the case, may have to go for the plus where it is supposed to remain no change in size.😁👍

As someone who's been loving the google Pixel more than any other smartphone, Im actually "blown away" by iPhone 15 Pro. The display is capable of producing 2500 nits.... more than any Samsung or Google smartphone. The camera is better than the pixel this time around with less of that sharpened look. The telephoto lens on the Pro Max model is capable of taking better 25x zoom photos than the Galaxy Ultra in low light conditions. And Astrophotography is finally here on iPhone albeit Apple made zero mention of it for some reason. I am a camera person and so I must say iPhone 15 Pro is the phone for me this year as it has the best and most accurate portrait mode photos ive ever seen on a smartphone. The foreground and background separation in portrait mode is something I don't see on other smartphone cameras. It is more closer to a DSLR than any phone ive seen.

Excellent balanced review. Subscribed. The major carriers are offering really good trade-ins deals that offer up to 100% off the price of the iPhone 15 Pro, which appears to be targeted at those just finishing a 2 year contract. I like the detail the 48Mp main camera on the 15 Pro offers, since I want to take photos and later zoom in to be able to read text, etc. The action button is also a plus, since I often miss photos fiddling around with the slide unlock to get to the camera quickly.

Left iPhone a decade ago due to the locked down nature of it. Tired of jailbreaking to gain basic functionality (that is now considered standard in phones) like notifications, quick toggles & file management. I think the addition of USB-C and especially the Log format filming as a full-time content creator has me ready to come back. Android and Apple/iOS have converged towards one another over the years. They're honestly a very similar experience these days. I have loved using my S22U and think it's easily the best Android experience yet, but I think the iPhone 15 is the better option

For me, the iPhone is not the best smartphone. It's just expensive compared to other brands. Unfortunately, far too many Vietnamese in Vietnam, as in other countries, buy this smartphone simply because it is an outward symbol of wealth. Many of my Vietnamese friends spend too much every year to buy the latest model when they don't need them... Mentalities need to change, but it's not easy.😒
@dominic7012
@dominic7012 10 месяцев назад
The base model, S23 Ultra, costs over 1400€, without having the costs of developing the operating system, App Store or iCloud, maintenance of data centers, hardware is developed by Qualcomm (processor, sensors, modem), battery by ATL, RAM by Micro*, the operating system by Google, and I could continue, from lag to disastrous UI / UX. It has nothing to do with wealth; this is an argument of frustrated individuals. Currently, only iPhone and Google Pixel provide the best quality for the price asked.
@PrinceRevolver
@PrinceRevolver 10 месяцев назад
@dominic7012 I disagree with only Apple and Google being the only phones that can match quality and cost. The majority of people don't need a phone that costs over $300 plus. Phones are inherently a want, not a need. You can buy cheap to do the same mundane task on an expensive phone.
@pierreshasta1480
@pierreshasta1480 10 месяцев назад
@@dominic7012 To understand my point in my previous comment, you should live in Vietnam and understand the Vietnamese mentality. Thao knows very well what I'm talking about. The way the back gesture works on iPhones irritates the hell out of me everytime I use an iPhone, for the reasons you describe. It's also annoying that it only works swiping from the left edge, which is the worst position for anyone using their phone with their right hand. I really don't like the way scrolling works in iOS either, it's like the screen is stuck in mud. At least with Samsung phones, if there's something that does annoy you, there's nearly always a way to customise it to your liking. With the iPhone (and Pixel phones), you're completely stuck with what you're given.

The lack of consistent "back button" gesture was (for me) the hardest thing the get used to after i switched from Android. Other than that the settings.. It took some time to learn that every important setting is in the settings "app" and not in the current app that I'm using. And in the control center, I liked on xiaomi when I tap the clock it navigates me to the settings to set up the alarms. Same as the wifi. When I long pressed the wifi icon in the control center, it navigated me to the wifi settings. These small things I'm missing currently. But overall the ios experience is smoother imo.

Having iPhones at the top of that list is not surprising, but I wonder if it really has to do with the phones themselves as it has to do with Apple's ecosystem. I personally used Android and iPhone devices and appreciate both but my preference for Apple is mainly because of its ecosystem. It's well-integrated and easy to use.
@shuggfilmzandstudio2354

The eco system is part of the phone so yes the sales are because of the phones. If the phones weren't performing it will mean their integration in the ecosystem will suck.
@meetpatel7564
@meetpatel7564 10 месяцев назад
Totally agree. It most probably has to do with the ecosystem. I have been a Samsung user from the very beginning and I am thinking if I should be switching now. I am using the macbook and airpods and I guess this is what is pulling me to go full in. However, the phone is something that I am co nstantly interacting with and I am just not ready yet. Not a fan of the UI on the iphones. The fact that I started to consider switching to the iPhone shows how strong and magnetic their ecosystem is. It is just so flawless

Eco system is great. But that said, I largely prefer the fire and forget character of iOS. I don't have to mind which or how many Apps I have opened in the background. The performance and autonomy is always there. I never have to reset it to fix any frozen situation or sluggish performance due to memory degradation on any other related issue. I can also easily keep the same iPhone for 4 years or more, with solid performance and always up to date. And when I finally decide to replace it, I don't have a worry with my data or my Apps on the transition. ...And Shortcuts are awesome. ☺

After 1 1/2 years with an iphone 13 I got a brand new S23... What a change! I don't know why I went from android to ios in the first place hahahaha Things that I won't miss from my old iphone: lack of customization (ringtones specially), lackluster night camera and so-so battery life: specially after battery health got to 97%... everything went downhill after that fateful day. Not everything is bad in Apple's backyard: I have an ipad 9th gen and I love it, but iphones are not for me, definitely!

Android user here who just got the 15PM. You're on point with everything you said. Not having a back gesture is my top complaint with iOS, however, I've never used a phone with that level of "smoothness" lol. The animations, the way that the apps work, the great cameras etc. I still have a spare Android (Xiaomi 12) connected to my galaxy watch 5 so I won't be diving into apple's ecosystem just yet cause I get bored quite easily 😂

Within iOS 16 and the latest 17, there is always a ‘back’ option on the top left, when you followed a link to a different app. Swiping right on the navigation bar at the bottom also takes you to the previous apps. I said apps because you can keep swiping until you run out of memory.

I am usually changing between Apple and Samsung phones on a 2/1 analogy (four years between Samsung devices, then 2 years on iPhone and again) but this time I feel that iPhone 15 Pro Max will stay in my pocket for long time! The overall build, that Titanium frame that melds perfectly with the matte glass back and the reduced weight are game changing features for me. I value only two things on a phone: build quality (check) and the second, cameras (since I am photographer). For years I was very pleased by Samsung’s cameras, as much as someone can be pleased by a smartphone camera anyway! But this time Apple convinced me that I can use my phone cameras in a more meaningful way. Image quality aside (that’s perfect), there’s a move towards pure photographic philosophy using lens focal lengths instead of the traditional phone zoom levels. The perfect example is the crop modes in the main sensor (28mm, 35mm and the 50mm as the 2x) that can be used by default. For those who are in photography, this approach resembles some of the fixed lens cameras like Leica Q3 of even the Fuji X100V. Going further you have now a brilliant 5x zoom lens (120mm) that’s the perfect choice for portraiture or other compressed shots and, believe me, I am impressed! There’s actual image compression like my big Sony lens at the same focal length (I am talking about compression, not comparable image quality with a full frame camera). In simple terms, it’s the first time that I can feel confident to go for a photo walk during the weekend without my mirrorless and a big camera bag on my back.

I totally despise the dynamic island, or notch for that matter. For a selfie cam, I'd rather lose a bit of quality on the selfie and have it under the display, so I can have all that display available for watching content, and to show notifications. I like Android notifications much better than iOS. BUT, I'm in the ecosystem. Just wish Apple would do a Z Fold competitor. It's an iPhone when closed, an iPad when open, and a full MacOS when connecting it to a monitor/TV.

I read a few months ago that Apple tested some foldable displays from Samsung, but they still need to pass Apple's high QC. So Samsung was asked to improve them so Apple could test again next year. I think Samsung gets away with a high percentage of displays breaking, but Apple would be damned by the Android community if that happened to them, even if it was down to Samsung display quality. So I do not expect a foldable until Samsung gets its displays more reliable.
