The video is great. The S23 Ultra is still a great device. It is 2 years older than the IP16 PM but it is much better in many aspects. I am using the S23 Ultra and I don't think I will need to change it for a long time :)

I was not really surprised that the S23 Ultra outperformed the 16 Pro Max in so many areas, but the way it was clearly superior (from the rear camera, not the front) when videoing at night was an eye opener to me personally. The S23U has a better sorted camera system than even the S24U in my opinion. The 16 PM would have found the S24U an easier opponent in this comparison. Fascinating, well produced, detailed video this one.

Hello, Very good comparison as usual, I have an S23 Ultra and I am very satisfied with it, but there are still 2 things for me that Samsung should really improve, first the primary colors like blue, green and red which are too flashy for me, not natural it's a bit annoying, and second the management of HDR the clouds are for me always too burnt they are too white it's annoying, but otherwise it's a great product.😀🙋‍♂

It has not been downgraded in any way. Some misleading videos may be out there claiming this, but I suspect they have an agenda. I own an S23 Ultra (and many other devices), so please take it from me that this phone still performs as brilliantly as ever.

S23U continues to surprise. Mainly in night portrait is much better than IP16 but in night overall including video which propably surprised me the most because video always had the best iPhone and even at night, 👏 to Samsung for optimalization of S23. And photos in day I like more from Samsung, I don't know if Samsung is so much better optimazed or on the other hand, IP16 is not yet that tuned because it's still on the market for a very short time, but Samsung is better and that's last year's model. S23 Ultra is still great phone.

Alexy, I assume you got the latest updates on the S23 Ultra with all the fixes after the 6.1.1 debacle? My S23 Ultra has been great since. Also other things have been fixed or added. I prefer the contrast in the clouds of the iPhone in the video. I would adjust the video in the S23 Ultra, but not bad for a year old phone. The Samsung seems reduce background noise, focusing on your voice. On another note, I heard about Cuba in the news. Hope all are well.

One thing I notice was the white balance of your S23 Ultra seemed to have a greenish tint in the night photos compared to the iPhone. I haven't noticed it on my S23 Ultra, but when I am not happy with the white balance, I would adjust and retake the photo if I have time using Pro mode, or in post editing.

@konradc12 Also, remember that the results would vary depending on the different lighting conditions and even angle. That's why I prefer to show as many different scenarios as possible instead of spending time talking and explaining 2-3 pics.

@Soto-Tech2020 Can I add that the S23 Ultra exposure can be adjusted when taking photos and videos on the fly. Yes, most just record and are not bothered or realise minor adjustments can be done. This why I sometimes switch to Pro mode and capture raw files and post edit.

From the rear facing camera only, but still a big big surprise this. The S23U outperforming the 16PM in night video in this test, and then outperforming it overall in photographic performance, shows what a well finished and polished camera system it has.

Samsung tends to over sharpen textures which makes the subject unrealistic. Plus night videography sucks bigtime without a gimbal. And for some reason why don’t you compare the 120 fps video to maximize quality and compare it to any fps with the Samsung. 😂 Former S24 ultra owner never been happy to switch to the latest 16 pro max

I don't particularly see that over sharpening but It's all a matter of personal preferences and taste. I didn't compare the 120fps this time because it's not available on the S23 Ultra therefore to not make the video longer than necessary (watch the comparison vs S24 Ultra). As I've said in other videos, I'm still not particularly impressed with the S24 Ultra but the iPhone 16 Pro Max is not perfect either and it has some annoying weaknesses especially with portrait shots and videos and especially at night. If you are happier with the iphone 16 Pro Max, fair enough. It has its strengths too that are probably more important to you than its weaknesses and there is nothing wrong with that. I also own a s23ultra and i have to say that the 10x optical zoom is kinda... worse than itself in the past ? Maybe Samsung just makes it bad to sell their other new products, i guess ? But overall, i see that this phone still can have a good performance while the 16 pro max is almost 2 years later
