It's so weird how this is so old, almost like one of those old PCs from the 1990s... and then you realize this was top notch technology just 4 years ago : /
Jordyn Fewtrell watching this off my LG G Flex, and guess what buddy? My phones actually supposed to bend. That phones trash, welcome to the real world.
Mine is pre-ordered and should be in my hands within two weeks. As this is my first phone (I'm 13, don't judge), I'm going crazy for the wait. Quick question: which model did you buy Jon? 16 gig or 32 gig? And how many gigs did you ACTUALLY get out of it?
@nickdoesnothin they did with the 3G. At the launch of the iPhone 3G it had reception issues and dropped a lot more calls, but with a SOFTWARE update, the connection got a lot better. Never underestimate software
I have been stuck with a flip phone motorolla razor for a quite some time now I am going to be upgrading to the iphone 4. I can't wait. I will be using it a lot. Will probably get it next week maybe.
I got my new iPhone 4 a couple of days ago and I really liked the notification bar and iCloud because when ever I got a new song from iTunes it would directly go on to my phone:)
To all the people wanting to get one but put off by his negatives toward the operating system, iOS5 adds what he says he wants, like lock screen notifications, iOS 5 is amazing.
Jon, in all honesty, the glass is scratch resistant right? Well I have about 4 scratches that only I notice are there...because they are sooo damn thin!! I'm not sure what the hell is causing these, it may be my jean pocket in all honesty but I have no clue. Think that should be happening? On the bright side, the scratches are only noticeable when you look for them, know where the are, and are holding the phone JUST right.
I'm going to go crazy with impatience waiting until April for my upgrade. I swear the phone comes into my mind several times a day. Now multiply that by 3 months. This is gonna take a while.....
The reason you're getting better battery life may be because the battery is brand new, i.e it has not gone through several cycles. The iPhone 4 has a better battery BUT more powerful hardware (CPU, display etc) so overall battery usage will probably be on par with a 3GS when used for a while.
Where I work, my 3G quite often drops from 3G to 2G reception, whereas my 4 very rarely drops 3G, so my experience is that the 4 has better reception than the previous models.
@Dilster3k Okay, i understand but with android you can get widgets, clocks, live wallpapers, notification bar, mobile hotspot, you don't need to jailbreak or root to put apps where ever on the screen, and it is an open source which means you can download it to a device and it will work like a stocked device, unlike iOS.
You cannot blame Apple for the tethering problem! It is AT&T... In the UK we had tethering from 3.0 when it was announced. AT&T just chose not to support it for a year
Homescreen notifications are part of the OS, not the phone itself. That shouldn't be taken away from the overall rating of the phone.. They can always update the OS..
i hey, it's me. you know from the dojo and the old days. i really liked your review. your are really good at presenting things. really.i learned morefrom this then apple
I am reading and watching many reviews about the samsungs2 and the i phone 4..They both look incredible phones..My current contract ends in 1 month after 24 months with the Sony EricsonW995. Phones have advanced so much..Which one do i take? samsungS2 is cheaper..Would love some imput? thanks
@Gunner9613 You should stick with the order. The 16gb capacity is enoguh for all of those apps, music and your videos. In my opinion you dont have to cancel your order
Jon you should do an actual test of signal degradation and/or loss without referring the signal bars on the phone given Apples recent letter detailing the issue. I'm curious to see is it really a miscalculation of signal strength or actually reduced signal strengh.
@ItzMeScottG He did mention that but, as he said, Apple devices try to appeal to a mass market. So, many of those people won't even know what jailbreaking means.
you dont really understand and notice the awsomeness of the iphone 4 until you look at it and hold it up close but it feel like it weighs a ton is what it feels like
@danyytr Gevey sim not gonna work mate, iOS 5 has upgraded baseband which blocks Gevey sim usage. If you're lucky to have baseband 4.10 then it should work or if you have iOS 4.3.5 then you can preserve you baseband so you can use the Gevey sim.
I love mine. The complaint I have is that if you are playing a game or something in landscape your hands tend to cover the speakers on the bottom of the phone.
@TheXlcj He's talking about the iPhone 4, not the 4S. Siri didn't exist until over a year after this video was uploaded. Just letting you know that this was indeed the wrong video :)
@Gunner9613 yes, they actually fixed it the same month or if not the same month then the month after, I forgot, if the iPhone 4 came out in June then they fixed it a month later, if it came out in July, then they fixed it the same month, either way, thats what I like about apple, they get right on the situation, well most of the time (about 95%-98% of the time)
I agree that the battery life has increased and is no doubt better but, It still is'nt as good as he is describing it in the video. I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 and it lasts probably 3-4 days with pretty heavy usage.
If you are bored of it I suggest switching to a new operating system, the iPhone 5 is just a tad bit faster, has a better camera and a bigger screen. Since the iPhone 4 there has been barely any change in iPhones.
Wow iPhone 4 for a Nexus One. To each it's own. But hey is there a setting you have to change to play RU-vid ivies within the browser be use mine still takes me out of it?
i'm trying to buy a phone atm, and have no idea what to get. i'm stuck between a blackberry or this. any suggestions as to which one to get, or any other phones?
I think it was around Christmas when I was trying to convince my dad to buy this phone. Thanks to that it lead me to this video. It was because of this video that I took an interest in mobile technology and for that I'd like to thank you John. This review was great when it came out and this review is still great today.
@Mrschoonhoven how do you know how long its been off the charger? 12 minutes maybe so probably not. I have an iPhone and I have never had battery issues even with heavy use.
What do you mean not many features were added. It's one of the most major upgrades since 1.x.x (though it wasn't really updgrade since it was the first firmwares).
@wizardhaxrulezzz I'm not talking about dollars, I'm talking about Euro's (Currency they use in Europe). Euro's are worth way more than dollars and it is much more expensive here. It starts at €699 here and in the US it's really cheap. The dollar is not the only currency in the world by the way.
@silenteyesspy Does the iFail have seven homescreen of which you can totally customize it? didn't think so, does the iFail have a built in FM radio? didn't think so, does the iFail have a 4.3 inch screen like the droid X? didn't think so, is the iFail on Americas most reliable wireless network? didn't think so, oh yea and the Droid X doesn't drop a call when you hold it in a particular way like the iFail does.
