Thank you very much for posting this how-to video, along with the link to the template. My girlfriend just upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5, and we completed the SIM card modification in under 5 minutes by following your instructions.

the thing that i actually like most from this video is that u not just cut ur sim card, you also show us that works fine (at least for you). I think that bring more confidence to the people who wanna try it. I personally have to do it if I want to use the iphone 5 cuz in my country there isn't nano sims yet in any carrier, but I'm really scared of screw up my sim card (it doesn't matter if is cheap or not, that's not the point), even though this method seems simpler and "secure" so thank you

If it didn't work for you, you either 1) fucked up the execution, or 2) inserted the card incorrectly. I just cut my micro sim card down to a nano sim card, without a template, a sandpaper, or sharp blades. Simply cut out the white plastic close along the edges, using the cardholder as guidance. When I put the sim card into the cardholder, my iphone 5s still showed "No Sim." As it turned out, I inserted the card on the wrong side. After I reinserted the sim card, my phone worked. Before you jump into the conclusion that you've ruined your sim card, make sure you inserted the card correctly into the cardholder. If the phone still doesn't work, then it is because you cut the card wrong.

I live in costa rica and my carrier is CLARO and the don't sell any iphone so i'll have to do it this way,do u have to leave a small part of plastic on both sides of the sim or is barely the golden thing? I see plastic mostly on the top of the sim

its works, i did it with scissors then i used a nail filer to refine the side and edges, i didn't have to sand it to make it slimmer

Got distracted counting the number of "let's go ahead" so didn't pay enough attention probably ... wouldn't risk cutting my SIM card like that though.

Once you activate with a network is it automatically locked to that network

Just did it wanted to move from a 4s(great phone in a few years no problems just small storage) to a 5c. IT WORKED even screwed it up on one side made it to short,, but put it in a 5 works.
