If you have an iPhone 7, you don’t really need to upgrade to the 8 unless u want to if u have a iphone 6 or lower u should totally upgrade to the iPhone 8
Darcel Hill I had an iPhone 6s then I bought the 8, the speed is almost the same and the camera but physically, a lot has changed. You should upgrade because you’re gonna get water resistance and wireless charging
While you might think that is the case, try putting both the phones next to each other and try it again. The results will actually surprise you. Especially the camera! The differences really do add up, however it isn't noticeable right off the bat. However it is true that wireless charging and water resistance are very key features of the newer iPhones as well.
The 7 Plus is a fantastic phone, but I do recommend you try getting as good of a deal as possible on one or jump up to the 8 Plus. The 7 Plus is at this point almost 4 years old so while it'll run fine now, a year or two down the line you may run into some slowdowns.
Also it has: A11 Bionic Processor Wireless Charging Fast Charging True Tone Display Better Camera: 4K 60FPS recording, AR compatibility, more portrait options
The 7 Plus (and the plain 7, for that matter) has one thing that the 8 does not - and makes it far superior to the features vs. budget comparison: A 128 GB option!...
That is true. I do feel like there is too much of a gap between the 64 & 256GB variants. However I do feel like it is a good deal for those who want higher storage, because instead of having to pay $200 extra, they now only have to pay $150. So it really comes down to how much you really need. I think that the 64GB is more than enough more most people, and only heavy power users need more than that.
Leonaldo Brum yes, I think that’s the deal breaker for me! I have the 128gb SE right now it’s been 2 years my contract just ended June 7. I hate that the 8plus only have the 64gb or 256gb options 64 to me is not enough and 256 is a bit too much. While the 7plus has the 128gb option I will never get a 32gb phone again like I did with my 5s not enough room at all
Yeah that makes sense. Both phones are very similar, with only a few things to differentiate them. Most people wouldn't be able to even take advantage of the 8 Plus' features.
To be honest The 7 plus and 8 plus are basically identical cause The iPhone 7 plus is great and has great features a normal person would want a phone like that. A person who has some money to burn would buy the iPhone 8 which is more fancier due to the glass and the iPhone X would have been more suitable for a person who uses the best gadgets of all
I have the jet black 7 plus and the back is still with no scratches and still looks beautiful...idk if I’m the only one but I’m not a fan of the space grey it doesn’t look as good as the jet black
You actually aren't the only one! As far as I can tell anyone who really likes the Jet Black, don't like the Space Gray. I was never a fan of the the Jet Black, but really liked the new Space Gray. There seems to be a correlation here!
I would not recommend it at this point unless you only plan on using it very short term. Software support is most likely to end within a year, and this phone is now running a 4 year old processor which will start to show it's age. The iPhone 8 Plus or XR would be a much better buy in my opinion.
I'm so thankful for this video cause I have an had android for far too long and have decided to switch to iphone.. I have ALWAYS thought "oooow the newest version is the better version" BUTTT after watching this video I have realized that newest is not always better... it's obviously cheaper to go for a 7 plus especially now a couple years later after this video! So, thank you for this video with a knowledge of how things work or are different. Its amazing videos like these that are very underappreciated! Thank you so much for this, you helped me save some money ❤
I'm glad you found the video useful. While I do suggest people buy the newest phone they possibly can I also do like it when people set a budget and stick to it. It's the smartest decision to buy the newest phone you can find in your budget. There are always new phones right around the corner, so buying the newest one doesn't do much unless you decided to buy a new one every year. Glad you were able to find the phone that fits your needs perfectly! Enjoy the new 7 Plus it's a great phone. :)
+Auto Technica what about 8 plus? I couldn't find 7 plus and decided to buy 8 plus but still I love 7 plus more, what do you suggest? should I keep searching for 7plus or buy 8 plus?
I don’t understand box videos. Who cares about the damn unboxing. iPhones have always came with the same stuff. Headphones and charger. What else do you need to know
The idea behind the box is that not everyone has had an iPhone before, and it provides some what of a first look at the device. Not to mention that people do enjoy watching the experience of buying a new device and opening it up for the first time. Just look at Unbox Therapy, he built his channel completely on the basis of unboxing items. So there is definitely a market out there for these unboxing videos.
I upgraded from a 6 plus to a 7 plus because I don’t do much on my phone but get on here, and other social media websites... text and talk so what sense would it make to pay more for a phone that looks exactly the same despite color as the cheaper phone 🤷🏽♀️
I have the 7 plus in jet black and it’s still my daily. It’s in mint condition after 4 years. The only negative is that the first case I bought for it stained my phone, (the back) it was so devastating man. But it’s still a great phone til this day.
The one thing Apple does better than anyone else is build their phones to last both in terms of software and hardware. I also feel your pain man, whenever my phones get even the slightest scratch I get so bummed out and stressed. It's why I only stick to known case brands and styles. I don't want to take any risks.
So here I am with bith iphones😂🔥🥂so from experience for years on this phones. The iPhone 7 Plus is great fast supportive Touch ID. Louds pretty fast. Pretty decent camera. The first 3 years I had the 7 plus great🙌🏽but it’s at its finally breaking point. It’s crazy durability it’s amazing. First time I cracked the screen was on accident I dropped face down and shattered the whole screen. Broke Becuase I had a screen protector not a tempered glass🙁.with no case. Only reason I had to upgrade is I was running in a park just enjoying the day with family. Out of nowhere it poured crazy took videos and pictures while it still worked properly. 24hrs past and started glitching. Calling random people was unresponsive. So had to go in 2 days later and go for the iPhone 8 Plus. My chick at the time had the iPhone 8 Plus and loved the way the pictures came out in portrait mode! Nice sleek and shots better the iPhone 7plus.. Pros on the 8 plus- better on low lighting setting. More realistic color when you take a picture and comes out the way your eyes see it. Wireless charging. Water resistant. Beautiful black on black display. One thing I’ve noticed is the iPhone 7 Plus is wayy more louder then the 8 plus for some reason. I just can’t explain from going to a iPhone 5s to 7plus at the time. When I first purchased it I loved the thumbing on the back of the phone you could feel the vibration. A mini earthquakes in your hand when you have the 7plus full volume. Whatever iPhone you chose they are both great! It’s crazy am saying this but I just might go with the 7plus everything is allmost pretty much the same thing. Just improved camera and video. Truly love them both and tbh I hate the new iPhones. No Touch ID 😕is a no for me I like staying classy.
As for me i will go for iPhone 7+ because they are all the same n the iPhone 7 + is not expensive but iPhone 8+is very expensive I will go for iPhone 7+ they are all the same
While I do agree that the 7 Plus is an excellent phone, it's a disservice to say that the 8 Plus and 7 Plus are the same. Especially after a few years, we clearly see how the processor advancements are helping the newer phones handle newer apps a lot better. However, budget wise the 7 Plus is still one of the best options out there.
The camera aperture and megapixels are the same as the 7 plus the only difference is that the sensors are better for AR seems like a waste to pay an extra £200 for better sensors
I wouldn’t say the X has all the better stuff in it. I returned my X for the 8 plus. I hated the X. The screen was so narrow and when watching a video the screen size was similar to a regular sized iPhone. If I zoomed in the notch was so obtrusive imo. Some people love the 8 plus. Not everyone wants the X.
I definitely agree with you! I didn't notice how much better the wider screen on the 8 Plus was until I switched back to it after a month of using the iPhone X. The wide screen really does make it feel like it has a larger screen of the two. I also do find the notch to be absolutely infuriating while trying to watch videos on the phone. The thing is though I've just kinda learned to ignore it because the OLED screen really does make it for it in my opinion.
it really does. you don't seem to notice the extra height on the screen on the x but you really miss the width. reviewers of the X tend not to mention this. they concentrate on how tall the x is. plus a lot of that is cropped in apps that haven't been optimised.
I love this guy so much, if you ask me why, I may not know what to say but I just love him. Hence, I have subscribed to your channel. Watching you from Ghana.
There is a huge difference in low light camera between these 2.also noticeable difference in speakers output.8 Plus Silver looks awesome.indeed I choose 8 Plus instead of iPhone X.btw nice videos u r making.
Haha! I'm not usually a big fan of silver, but this time it doesn't look too bad. The low light performance did surprise me as well, the iPhone X actually does even better than the iPhone 8 Plus! Glad you enjoyed the videos!
Yes, the changes between the 7 & 8 Plus aren't that big. However between the 7 Plus and the X is a different story. Yet, I can see what you mean by the 7 Plus being a "better" phone. It's definitely a better value in comparison the iPhone X considering you get a lot of the features of the iPhone X, in the 8 Plus/7 Plus.
If you haven't bought the phone yet, I would recommend the 8 simply because it's got a better processor. It will age a lot better than the 7, so if you plan on keeping the phone for a while it'll be the right move.
Around 99% of smartphones I see are on cases. I don’t see much of a concern. If they’d want to use theirs naked, front and back tempered glass and ceramic protectors are widely available.
You can buy one from the Apple website, they have one option on the clearance section: www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/clearance Or you can always buy one from eBay or Swappa. The issue is because this phone has been out of production for so long it will be impossible to find a brand new one.
Yes, the Touch ID to Face ID transition is a bit jarring at first. However after a while of use, I've gotten very used to it and it's not too hard to live with. In a perfect world, I'd love if there was an option to have both Touch ID and Face ID.
Yes I did! Thank you for pointing that out. The day I shot these camera samples, I was alone and had no one helping out. Which meant that I couldn't really take any portrait photos at that time. However if you were wondering how they compare (I've taken many afterwards), they are EXACTLY THE SAME! The portrait modes between the 7 and 8 Plus are really hard to tell apart.
Auto Technica I was talking about how the iPhone 7 plus doesn't have lighting portrait and those fancy modes, the regular portrait mode is going to be almost the same
Thank you for taking the time to make this vid!! now that the price has dropped on the iphone 7 even more what do you think is the way to go, Im debating between a 7plus and 8plus
I think that if you plan on keeping the phone long term, the 8 Plus is a better choice. If you plan on changing with 1 or 2 years, the 7 Plus is the smarter way to go financially speaking.
When I Had The IPhone 7 Plus It Used To Hurt My Hand Holding It But When I Upgraded To The IPhone 8 Plus It Does Not Hurt My Hand Holding It In My Hand
It all depends on what your budget is. If you can stretch your budget to afford the iPhone X, you'll most definitely like it. If you can't stretch it that much I would say that at this point the 8 Plus is also a very good choice and you get almost everything you get out of the iPhone X in it barring the display and front portrait mode features. Unless you get the iPhone 7 Plus for a crazy good price, I think at this point it isn't the Best Buy. It is older and will definitely perform worse than the 8 Plus/X as time goes on and we get more software updates.
so I'm torn I'm getting a iphone 7 128gb free in a few days, but I also have the means to buy an iphone 8 plus 64gb, should I save my money and stick with the 7? Or should I move up to the iphone 8(even though I have a free iphone 7 on the way?) I'm upgrading from the iphone SE 2016 16gb.
Depends on how long you are planning on using the phone. If you only plan on using the phone for about a year the 7 should be fine. If you plan on keeping it any longer go for the 8 Plus it'll be worth it.
Buy the 8 Plus. It has the newer processor and will get software updates for longer. In fact I also recommend the new iPhone SE which is in the same price bracket but is much more updated and modern in terms of processor and camera capabilities.
This is the first video I could find that really shows off decently the color diference between the 7 jet black and the 8 space gray. Thank you a lot for that, Auto Technica!!! First, I believe it makes way more sense to compare the space gray 8 with the jet black 7 and not the matte black because of the glass back on the 8 which makes them look more alike. Seeing both like this, I'm now convinced that the jet black 7 is the most beautiful iPhone ever made. The one piece design, with every surface being glossy, from the back to all around the sides looks stunning, while the glass sandwich with matte sides doesn't look that amazing on the iPhone 8. And there's the color. The 7 is "unapologetically" black, while the 8 is back with those weird gray tones. The space gray X almost looks as good as the 7 since the sides are also glossy because they're made from stainless steel, but you can tell where it meets the glass back, while the 7 is a one-piece black thing. One-piece black thing that scratches like hell, but the most beautiful one.
It depends on 2 things: 1. How much space does your current phone have, and how much of it have you used up? 2. Do you plan on filming a lot of 4K video on the phone? Let me know so I can suggest the right phone for you.
As other comments have suggested the 7 Plus does have a very identical camera setup, I would still suggest that the 8 Plus is a better option in 2019. If you have the ability to wait and save up, I would recommend the 8 Plus. Why I recommend it over the 7 Plus is because it has a newer processor and some improved camera modes that will really age better compared to the 7 Plus. However, the 7 Plus isn't bad at all either. Whichever one you choose, you can't go wrong.
I think that the Belkin and Samsung wireless chargers are really good. There are also some really good ones from Aukey and Anker, which have some really interesting design.
Auto Technica Yeahhh I have been thinking for Samsung as its gonna work for my S6 edge+ too but I am sceptical about it, if Samsung would charge iphone 8+ fast or not??
I currently have a iPhone 6s and had it for 2 years, I’m thinking of upgrading it to iPhone 8plus but I’m unsure if I should upgrade it to iPhone 7plus or 8plus. I like big phones, so these 2 will be a pick for me, but I’m unsure which to pick any suggestions?
I'd say that the 8 Plus is the better choice in 2019. The iPhone 7 Plus is now over 2.5 years old, and I think that your best option for longevity is the 8 Plus.
+Mark Cruz my personal preference is a clear scratch guard or skin with a case. I always used a case as well to be extra safe and I never had an issue with scratching on my 7 Plus. However either one should be more than enough to protect the phone from those micro abrasions.
Mark Cruz There will be scratches, even if you use a case. I had mine in a case since I bought it and then took it out of the case like 4 months after and there was a visible scratch. I think it’s from dust or whatever.
I am leaning towards the 8 plus but by next month if the 7 plus goes on a crazy sale I will go with the 7 plus but for the GB's the 8 plus has my heart lol
Yes! I would absolutely recommend the 8 Plus! It's a great phone, however there isn't a big difference in looks/feel between the 6 Plus and 8 Plus, so set your expectations accordingly.
Which one should I buy????? Please help! I need opinions!!!!!! I'm torn and I don't like all these options! I miss how Apple used to just come out with a phone and that was it.
I know right! I miss the old days as well when the only option you had was color/storage. I think that if price is a concern, the iPhone 7 Plus is just as good as the 8 Plus. However if you can manage the extra cash and plan on keeping the phone for a few years, the iPhone 8 Plus is the best phone right now. I honestly feel as of now it's an even more polished product than an iPhone X.
Like I need help ...I'm puzzled on which to get the iPhone 7 plus product red or the iPhone 8plus in gold.i don't want to get the 8plus because if I drop it its gonna crack and then look ugly and done for and I don't want to get the 7plus cuz the 8plus may be better And if I drop the 7plus it won't crack but if I do to the 8plus it will also the gold 8plus is prettier . So I need help plzzz .and I'm Jamaican🇯🇲🇯🇲. Lots of love from Jamaica🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 love your videos
Definitely go for the 8 Plus. While the glass is less durable compared to the aluminum back the performance improvements make up for it. Just get a clear case for your phone and you won’t have to worry about breaking the glass! Thanks for the support from Jamaica!
i have a iphone se right now, but im torn whether to get the 7 plus, 8, or 8 plus. I know that sounds like a lot, but i really cant decide. help me please!!
That is quite a dilemma! I'm going to make things worse here before I make them better. There is most likely going to be a new iPhone SE that will be announced in 2-3 weeks. So in my opinion you have 4 choices not 3: The 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, & 2018 SE. One thing that is important is how much you are willing to spend, and what size you find the most comfortable. If you are looking for a smaller and lighter phone, stick with the iPhone 8 and 2018 SE. If you are okay with the larger size, and want the larger display I personally think that it is wiser to go with the iPhone 8 Plus because it has an excellent processor and a very good display. Let me know if you have more questions!
