I got some speciality tips from Ali, C08 and D08. 6-7 dollars a piece. They're great when I need them, but otherwise I use the biggest tip that is practical for the job, so it has as much thermal mass as possible. Modern PCBs have so big, beefy ground planes.

Is the reason why you did not solder a wire from the mosfet missing pad to what appears to be a resistor right beside the mosfet because that resistor is after the battery and mosfet and would not have fixed the issue?

That's a 0.5mm tip. Too thick. The big one I showed was 0.4mm and it was too big.

man talk about micro when you work on phones is when im like man this guy is good these things are so small and plastic is so thin not to mention the fragile connections but man the paper thin board and connections are so easy to ruin this is why you send your things out to a pro like this if my gaming laptop that is very expensive ever needs to be fixed this guy i will trust

Good size comparison for that .1mm wire that most people may be familiar with. The little sim/sd tray tool that comes with a lot of phones and tablets. It is 8x thicker.

My phone seemed to be having this issue so I opened it up to just have a look. Didn’t have any tools for the soldering. Then after I just looked it worked fine again? Which I don’t understand, unless somehow the black spongy part I removed was causing the issue? Can anyone suggest how this happened?

As far as tips being so large with an unbent tip in particular you can buy a pac of bigger cheep ones 100% stainless steel tho had to be and just strap into a drill and use 800 1500 2000 grit sand paper secured to a comfortable angled surface

Look into the WX- Pico Pencil (WXPP) it has much finer tip availability than the WXMP. Can use it on your station with a firmware update. I have been very impressed with it's performance.

@@hightttech depends on when you bought it. I think the ones being sold now are up to date. Mine required a firmware update. The update is crazy simple to do though.
