David & David explain how to fix the problem when Personal Hotspot is missing or not working on an iPhone.
If Personal Hotspot is missing on your iPhone, it's likely because there's a Configuration Profile that blocks hotspot, or the feature has been turned off by your wireless carrier.
Head to the General section of the iPhone Settings app and tap VPN & Device Management. Check if any configuration profiles are preventing you from using iPhone personal hotspot. If not, get in touch with your wireless carrier to see if iPhone hotspot has been disabled on your plan.
If personal hotspot isn't missing, try turning Cellular Data off and back on again. Cellular Data is what's used to turn your iPhone into a mobile hotspot. After that, check for a carrier setting update, which can improve your iPhone's connection to your wireless carrier's network.

It's also a good idea to restart your iPhone, which can fix minor software problems. Then, make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. This will help keep your iPhone running smoothly.
If Personal Hotspot still isn't working, it's time for deeper software troubleshooting steps. First, Reset Network Settings, which erases all Cellular, Wi-Fi, APN, and VPN settings to factory defaults. If that doesn't work, back up your iPhone and perform a DFU restore, the deepest type of iPhone restore.

Thanks!!! Both Ipad/ Iphone right after update to 17.5 the personal hotspot went light. The cellular button on/off did it.

By missing do you mean it doesn’t show up as an available network to connect to, at all, or that I’m unable to even turn it on in the “hotspot” page? My current issue is the former. Other devices like my laptop detect and connect to my T-Mobile hotspot network without issue, but my phone doesn’t even see it. If I try to manually connect, it says failed to connect or network is not available

Thanks but my problem is that hotspot option is not there in setting and can’t find it to turn on hotspot, is there any solution to enable hotspot even if it’s option not be in setting ?

I'm happy to see that at least you think that you're funny, but Wi-Fi Hotspot's still not working between my iPhone14 and the head unit in my car. It worked well with my vintage android phone, and nothing had changed than only the phone. The connection keeps stopping.

I am using my iPhone 5 and 6 under wifi to read, work and watch videos and sync iCloud with my real iPhone 8 with Notes and Photos ... etc. But few days ago my iPhone 5 iCloud storage not functioning and asked to sign in, with correct sign in password again and again, it failed and shown { Verification Failed. An unknown error occurred. }. iPhone 5 works very well and just no iCloud storage back up and sync details with the other two phones. Will reset the phone helps ? Is phone too old ??? Hi I have iPhone 11 pro ios 14.4.1 after I restart my iPhone the personal hotspot is not anymore in the settings only on mobile data so I have to do manually go to mobile data to put the info at personal hotspot apn… I have another problem with notes they are not open it in my list just is opening the one I created is opening that is a bug from apple they never fixed it! The problem I get with it is it working fine for 10 minutes then it suddenly loses it but to actually get it to rejoin you got to switch off and on again on both machines it’s ridiculous you can see everybody else’s hotspots but never mind until I’ve gone through the rigmarole of turning it off and on again

I spent over an hour on the phone with an Apple engineer. In the end he all but admitted that the software was not optimized for older devices. So the “maximize compatibility” button in your hotspot settings is missing on iPhone 11 and lower devices including the SE2020. It’s not the carrier. It’s Apple. I can hotspot any android, and only Apple devices on iOS 13/14/15/16. Android can hotspot any of my old devices. It’s apple, not my sim. It’s painful. Should be illegal. I have 13 wifi idevices.

Just found out how to get it working YOU MUST CHANGE THE PW and NAME or JUST PW in HotSpot settings then Laptop will Recognize it and ask for PW on GS7Edge.
