I use 13 mini, have my Mom on an SE 2, my sister on a 12. As a hobby I pick up old iPhones cheap and replace the battery myself (currently have an X and a 8). The user experience and software are surprisingly similar across all of them. The camera is the main point of difference. If you're not a huge camera buff, or if you mostly take casual photos in good light, any of them will deliver the basic iphone experience just fine. If you need 5G or the latest camera, go with newer models. If you don't care about all that (normie user) might as well go with the $ proposition, iPhones hold up well over time and get great long term software support. Even if you wear out the battery, Apple battery replacement is very reasonable. A battery replacement on an older iphone often makes a lot of sense compared to the sticker shock of the latest new model
Need to shop se 2020 he have ios 17 and real cool phone real lcd is beter for human eye not amoled for me and have 700nits se 2020 and iphone 12 have 625 hahaha apple why
I have the SE 3 and love it the design never bothered me I don’t buy phones for the way they look I got my SE3 back December the battery is better than the last generation and I have had no issues with either phone
@@vlad.-.7553 Hello Vlad, the battery life on my SE is okay. I don’t play games and I usually charge it between 20-80% and it lasts around 4-5 hours from 80% down to 20% and if I charge it all the way up to 100% and drain it to 0%, it lasts around 5-6 hours (no low power mode). If low power mode is enabled it can go for 6-8 hours (social media usage). Thank you. I bought it as an upgrade from the SE 2016 (1st gen). Edit: The battery health of my SE 2nd gen is at 96%
@@Fobes That's great! Yes, I agree it is a solid phone. I bought one as an upgrade from SE 2016 (1st gen) and I noticed some big improvements in comparison to my old phone. I wasn’t bothered by the design at all as I was aiming for performance and for a few years of software updates without spending more bucks for the xs,xr, and 11. Also, 5G is not widely available at the moment in my country and the majority use wifi in their homes.
and how is it for You? Like its a good iPhone ? And whats the battery life percentage in settings now in your iPhone? I have to choose between Se and iph 11 but the iph11 is more expensive. And like the battery go for 5 hours If you stay on it straight? Like I use it in school so i want it to last 5 hours mb.And have You tested it in some games like brawl or pubg or smth? Thx for answering
It’s unfortunate that the iPhone SE isn’t cool anymore, 2020 was the last time people actually cared about it. fast forward to now, people are ready to move on from the aging design, even Apple themselves. I really wish Apple would have kept this around,. The iPhone SE three is a rip off in my opinion.
It’s a ripoff at apples price yeah but wait till the deals come around and it’ll be amazing. It’s still a good solid phone. I could’ve sworn I’ve seen this same comment word for word copied and pasted on multiple SE videos..
I just recently bought this iPhone, like 4 hours ago recently, in A+ condition, 256 gigs with charger and case for less than $200. Coming from the og SE with 32 gigs this will be such a massive upgrade I think it will last for a long time, maybe a battery replacement eventually but not worried at all.
I’m in an unusual position where I got a work phone and funny enough, they gave me a brand new iPhone SE 3. I’m a current user of the latest and greatest (iPhone 14 pro). However, for more than 8 hours a day, I mainly use that iPhone SE. Don’t get overwhelmed by the advertisements. You don’t need a bigger phone. You just don’t. If anything I would recommend an iPhone SE paired with an iPad if you are like me and watch mainly RU-vid when not at work. You just don’t need a big phone. In addition to that, my battery lasts all day without any issue. Im getting home with around 40% battery. So yeah, if you don’t have the extra money to spare, you’ll be MORE than happy with an iPhone SE. If you were looking for a signal to make the final decision. This is it.
One of the benefits of the SE sharing the same form factor as the 6/7/8 is that your cases will still fit. Whenever I eventually upgrade to my next phone, I’m gonna have to get all new cases 😅 Seriously, though, the phone still works for your bare-bones needs.
I use the 13 mini as my main phone. I got it bc of the size and I was afraid it was gonna be the last mini size iphone. I find the battery to be fine especially on standby like all iPhones. Probably not great for streaming content but that's not what I have it for anyway. The camera is really good and overall it fits my use case for it very well.
Hope stuff like this keeps going with the whole, you don’t need to upgrade thing on ur channel. U inspire me to keep my 14 pro max for 4 years( compared to me dropping $1500/yr per iPhone) I also have 1TB(flex) to help me with that 4yr journey
I have an SE 2nd gen, I got it in sept of 2020, a few months after it came out and has it been good or what! I really love the phone, the battery life isn't greta that's true but then I don't use my phone a lot so on days when am working from home, the only use is to play music at the gym, I sometimes end the day with 40-45% left but on days when am going to office or travelling anywhere, I will need a charger the minute I reach office and about 2 weeks ago I took a road trip with the family, I had to keep a power bank right in front of my seat and plug into it the minute I got in the car, unplug and leave when we reached the places that we were supposed to see, take pics and all and plug back in the minute I entered the car. So yes the camera is great but if you are gonna use that great camera, better buy a power bank
Sorry but the A13 is not a be fit in my opinion. I had the SE 2 for a while since I got it for basically free going from my iPhone 8 and the battery life was awful. The processor is too powerful for the battery size.
I’ve had the SE2 for over 2 years now. Had to replace the battery recently, and battery life can seem a little “puny” at times, but aside from that, the phone hasn’t given me many, if any problems. The Touch ID is also very convenient, as I can unlock my phone without pulling it out of my pocket, and use Apple Pay with no troubles.
I still use an SE 2! It’s still good, except the battery. 10:26, Also no. The SE 2, for some reason, doesn’t get Apple Music Sing. Even though the iPad 9 with the EXACT SAME A13 chip with 3GB of RAM does get Apple Music Sing. ._.
Great review.Helped taking decision to buy refurb.excellent like new SE2 recently. Had it before with my previous employer for 2 years and..i got used to it without using it too much. Now I do and happy with. To me the main advantage is this is NOT android ;)) Have a brand new Moto G13...OMG, too much permissions for such and such...,google maps not working well and too late to return it. The second plus of IPhone SE2 - camera and video. Beautiful pics. Just amazing for browsing and using whatsapp.Yes battery is 1800 mAh but with a good 5-10K mA power bank that s definitely not a pb.Really good deal if bought as refurb excellent condition. Thanks for video and cheers from Canada.
I got into the same dilemma when I had the opportunity to buy a new iPhone. I ended up getting the Xs bc of the notch design yet having (almost) all the software capabilities the SE2 has.
I'm in this same situation please help. I have to choose between xs and se2. The only reason i'd preffer se2 over the xs is software and its chip but I don't see a big difference here. Everything else xs is just better so. I think im gonna go with the xs but i havent really decided it
Other than design and aging battery, the se 2 is an amazing deal of a phone. I still love the old size and dont mind the look. What i mind is type c and since i know the future phones will have it, there comes a point to say goodbye. If apple had released an se4 with type c, id probably buy it rn.
I bought the 2020 SE in September 2020 for 550€ (it was new and there was no used options yet where I live), I know it wasn’t a deal but whatever. Bought another for my little brother a few month ago for 200€. That’s a steal imo.
i just bought an Iphone SE 2 last week for 100 bucks off of Ebay...gotta say its not too bad..feels kind of small..but it has a better processor than the X or XR..which is the main reason i decided to get it instead..they all run for around the same price online (100-200 dollars) and when I set it up I was able still get support for the latest iOS, which is 17 right now...i also have an old 2012 MBP at home that I use for my daily computer which I upgraded..SSD/RAM..etc..and also using OCLP to upgrade the mac OS to Sonoma...didn't think the Continuity or Airdrop features would work because I came across some posts online that said it wouldn't..but after some configuring in my settings I got both features to work..now i'm running older Apple tech just like new!
I’d stil one rocking my se2 if I hadn’t A) destroyed the camera by mounting it to my motorcycle, B) it’s better being pretty shot after two years, and C) the biggie.. I had the chance to buy a mint 256gb 13 pro for about half of their going rate. Otherwise, the phone was still solid and I definitely would have swapped out the battery. I’d planned on going long term with it.. just wasn’t meant to be. Got two years though
Thank you for a great and informative presentation I still have the iPhone 7 and know that I saw your presentation and advice I will buy either the SE second generation or wait got the iPhone 15 what do you advice?
Things like live text could have easily come to the iPhone X too if apple wanted. Even grandma old pc hardware can recognise text through OCR softwares nowadays but a smarphone with dedicated AI cores can’t? Wtf.
Just got a refurbished SE 2 with new battery looking like new to replace my iphone 7 that started to heat up a bit. 200 euro and off we go a few years again.
It terms of price and value this wins handily, SE 3 is way overpriced considering I bought my 13 Mini cheaper and the X and 8/8 Plus are still more expensive by $100-$150 even though they are about to become fossil fuels any day now. Also the 11 and below won’t get any more updates than the SE 2 considering the SE 1 and 7 Plus were dropped at the same time lol. This scenario reminds me of 6 Plus vs SE 1; bigger is not better because where is the 6 plus and SE 1 today; in 2027 the X and SE 2 will have the same dynamic in which the bigger phone will be obsolete and unusable. However I’ll say this, when the SE 3 is discontinued or replaced it will become Apple’s best deal because it doesn’t have the caveat with the battery life and will support 5G say if 4G networks are shut down like previous generations.
I got a refurbished se 2 as I didn’t want to pay for a brand new se 3. I am very pleased with it. I do worry about small phones not being made anymore (I have small hands) hopefully they’ll make another small phone one day
Old tech review is important as not everyone is buying the newest and greatest. When my dad switched to iPhone pro 13 my mom ditched her old iPhone 6s. Not everyone needs a nuclear program in their hands
Get the upgrade program if you need or want to chase technology. I would only buy a used iPhone directly from Apple, with insurance. The SE models are for people looking to save money. You don’t just save on the phone, you save on the insurance.
Got a Brand New 256 Gig iPhone X for only $300 in early 2021. Aside from the Battery Life being kinda Crap and the Camera Glitching for Some reason, it still does everything I need it to. Gonna Stick with it until I get a Job and can afford a Brand New iPhone.
I bought the SE2 at launch and while yes the outdated design and small battery are the obvious cons, once you get past that i actually think it's hands down one of the best iPhones ever made. I have owned every version of the SE and i keep coming back for Touch ID and the overall value. There's a reason each version of the SE has been a best seller for Apple. Specifically with the SE2, i was able to bypass the battery life by buying a battery case. I love the iPhone X design too but unfortunately with it no longer getting software support and being much older i feel like it simply isn't good for anything other than a temporary phone or collecting a classic iPhone.
Not worth it imo, software support is irrelevant with a design and display that old and outdated. I’d take the X here any day of the week, here in Europe they are both around 200€.
For me the x would be better, touch id just works really badly with my fingers and face id is just better but I got an xr instead and it's really good. And also the iphone SE 2 doesn't support the apple music sing for some reason, only the 3rd gen
I've never really got this iPhone and Android snobbery. My main phone is a Huawei P30 pro, but am upgrading it to a Samsung. I use an iPhone se 2 for work. They both work fine. I am thinking if getting an iPhone 13 mini for work. But I'm also going to get a pro max series iPhone for photography and videos. Most days I can't be bothered with my 35mm DSLR.
Got a mint condition pre-owned IPhone SE2 as a secondary phone (to my IPhone 13) and boy it’s awesome! The only issue is battery back up, but if you want a secondary phone it’s worth it because of limited use. I got it at around INR 14,000 (approx 170 USD) and I feel it’s a steal
All iPhones have good resell value. Don't mock iPhone SE 2022. Its _price drop_ in the second hand market makes it a nice deal alongside the iPhone 12s. The iPhone XS Generation are doing great too 😂
Watching on the se 2 It’s has the best portrait compared to the iPhone X And cause of the a13 camera apps like Snapchat support portrait mode something not available on the iPhone X
I don’t think the SE is better unless the 10 example is a *rough one*. Often similar battery, arguably worse camera, *way* worse of a screen, same amount of ram and cell capability… Chipsets are overrated especially for how that demographic use a phone
I was comparing my 12 pro to a 14 pro a few hours ago on Apple. I laughed at the very small amount of differences. I don’t see myself upgrading anytime soon unless an Ultra comes out in non max size (give me a mini ultra).
Yikes no those two phones are hugely different. Especially in terms of battery life. Plus your missing out on a buttery smooth 120 hz 48mp and a way better screen with dynamic island.
@@michealadebz Lol 120hz & the always on display on the 14 pro eats into the battery life which in the end we all care about & the speed difference is slightly better nothing u can feel in real life this is the same for ever iPhone all the way down to the 8 plus 😂😂
@@ralph6164 not sure you realize it’s a dynamic refresh rate that drops down to 1 refresh a second instead of 120. And that the always on display makes a 4-2%impact on your battery life. I’m also not sure you realize just how bad the batteries on the 12 pros were because they switched to brand new in efficient 5g modems.
@@michealadebz i'd say main improvements would be battery life and cameras. the 12 pro had bad battery life, which was greatly improved with the 13 pro. the 12 pro also got worse cameras than the 12 pro max, while better than the 11 pro cameras but not by too much. dynamic island is a gimmick, and i almost never notice a difference between pro motion and 60 hertz.
“Bad battery life on the 12 Pro”!?? I work in automotive repair industry and have AirPods Pro 2 in from 8am-5pm with maybe 45 min off for lunch feeding off of my 12 pro. I listen to a majority of RU-vid videos, some podcast and a little Apple Music. Then when home have music playing in background on iPhone while making dinner. By the time I plug it in for the first time it’s bed time. If that’s “bad battery life” I don’t know what to say. My Apple Watch ultra on the other hand goes 2-3 days on a charge 😂
I got one new in the box from AT&T back in November 2021 for $160. Got it unlocked 6 months later. Best iPhone deal ever imo. Can’t wait till they start all the deals on the SE3.
And about battery life a good protection with the battery within, not the one sold by Apple of course it’s ugly and overpriced but anyone sold by Amazon for 20$ or even less will do
I think the problem for at least some of us is that the screen and battery on the SE models are just too small for our daily use. My eyes are not what they used to be, and I'm not always by a charger. If they made an SE Plus a la iPhone 8 Plus, I'd consider that, at least as a backup phone. I personally would look for a used iPhone XS or 11 Pro (preferably the Max models) before an SE 2. That's not taking into account the superior chips and modems (and cameras) of the newer models. I also disagree to an extent on the SE 3 not being significantly better than the SE 2, despite having a problem with the screen size. The modems and battery life are said to be significantly better on the SE 3. The extra cost of even a used SE 3 might not make sense to some, but it makes that model more appealing to many.
Because of phones like this I never get the argument of people saying that iPhones are too expensive. Even a 6 year old iPhone X or 8 is still quite more capable than a similarly priced, new, Android midrange phone..
as an actual SE 2 user for almost three years I can safely say that the screen and the battery are so bad and annoy me so much I would recommend anyone on a tight budget to just consider android. which is exactly what i'm currently thinking about.
I couldn't imagine using a phone with a dedicated home button in this day and age. Somehow the iPhone 8 design looks so ancient despite being about five years old.
I’m not convinced that anyone should buy a 4/5 year old iPhone or any smartphone that old. You may get another 2 years of software support with a 4/5 year old iPhone then you’re kinda outta luck.
@@TailosiveTech True, but you should then account for that smartphone needing a new battery at some point…or needing to replace the phone again with another budget smartphone in 1-2 years potentially. I guess it could be cheaper still overall to upgrade every 2 years or so with a $200 smartphone…just depends. I end up preferring the route of least hassle & headaches when it comes to tech.
The part when u said you don’t do android. 😂 Android’s are better for gaming, customization and better value in terms of purchases. They can also probably still provide free music as well.
