iPhone SE 2022 in 2024... Still Worth It?

I’ve had this phone since release, it’s the best phone I’ve ever owned - I just adore the front facing fingerprint scanner & the slim form factor. Performance is also fantastic, and the battery is sufficient. Another excellent video!

Adam, I’m sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. Y’all are in my prayers. I’m still very happy with my 2022 SE. I love the form factor and the Touch ID. When Touch ID goes away, I don’t know what I will do. Now if someone would make a keyboard like a wannabe Blackberry, that would be cool.

Sorry to hear about you mum. I still use my iPhone 8 mainly because of Touch ID and I've probably had it for 6 years now, wow time flies! I have an iPhone 13 Mini sitting in a box not opened yet I was going to upgrade to, but my iPhone 8 is still going strong!

I just picked one up off eBay a few weeks ago to use as a secondary device. I already have a galaxy S23 as my main phone, but I wanted to also experience iOS without breaking the bank. The design is nostalgic, and the fact this is likely the VERY last classic design iPhone makes me want to enjoy the good’ol home button these last few years while I still can lol

I picked up my old iPhone 8 the other day and was amazed at how good it felt in the hand. On top of the smaller footprint, I'll actually argue in favor of the bezels because you're not having to do thumb gymnastics to reach every corner. Less accidental presses, a more secure grip on the phone and less travel needed. Obviously bigger bezel-less phones are great for media consumption, but I think a design like the SE still has merit and an consumer base in 2024.

I'm still using an iPhone 7 for my work phone. I was just looking at the iPhone SE literally this morning on Apple's website but I was like, "Nah, I'm not paying $400 for this." So the timing of this video is impeccable! You must be psychic! 😂

I purchased a magsafe case for my SE 22 and mag power bank, which gives me endless use throughout the day. Without the power bank, it's very pocketable and I'm not worried about dropping it if I miss my pocket. Plus touch ID is awesome... I just hope SE 4 still has touch security.

My SIM is in my 2020 SE right now. It’s just such a handy size. I must not need that much storage. Out of 64gb, I’m only using 48.06gb and there’s quite a few things I could delete and never miss

I'm still using an old school OG iPhone SE, but it's a phone I only use when I travel. Small, fits in my pocket easy enough and has google maps when on the go. I'd rather lose it than my main android phone even though one is starting to get long in the tooth. Even though I'm also not really an Apple fan like you, it's impressive how they still support their phones for years, unlike the majority of Android OEMs.

I'm using my 7tpro 5G McLaren from One Plus. I've been looking at the 6t McLaren for the packaging that it comes with. I liked 7t pro so much but that would be ridiculous. ... Any thoughts on doing a AI features coming to S23 ( and One Plus 12). I'm not thrilled about AI magic and like the " dumb phone" concept.

I use this phone as a secondary phone. I’m a teacher. So I use it to call and contact parents. I find myself grabbing it. Ore that my 14 pro that’s my primary. The size just works for me. The only thing I would do over is : bump up storage. I went with 64. And I wouldn’t have brought it from Apple. Def spent 400+

Carplay is what I will/would miss most if I went Android. I have the Se 3 with 64gb, I got it used for $150 about 8 months ago. Have 97% battery health and enjoy it coming from the Iphone XR. Will wait to see what the SE 4 has to offer and the price it cost before deciding on my next phone. There are so many good Android phones in the $400-$600 price range that now also offer long term software support, my best bang for buck might be Android for my next phone.

Sorry to hear on the passing on your mum. My pixel 7 keeps rebooting and not loading up so I need another phone until my next upgrade this year. The SE phone has always been perfect to hold for me I have the 6s but that is unusable due to battery going from 80% to 50% seen some cheap se on facebook

I have a 15PM but now, I'm waiting for my 256GB SE 2022 from Ebay. That will be my primary phone along with my Pixel 4XL. I only use the 15 PM for landscape photography and video capture aside from that, everything can be handled by the SE 2022. I love the Touch ID too. I don't even care about the battery life since I don't do games or Netflix.

I got mine on back market for excellent condition only for $ 270. And I love it great video ❤👍

I have now downgraded. From the Iphone 15Pro Max to the 2022 Iphone SE. I love the small Iphone, it can do everything I need, has a beautiful design, and unlike the current Iphones really a great and pleasant feel. And best of all: it fits really loosely in trouser pockets and jacket pockets without disturbing in any way!!

My deep sorrow and condolences for your loss, I lost my mom in 2020 about a week before covid started and that whole horrible situation surrounding her passing was a mess that still affects me if I sit and start thinking about it. Just ordered an SE3 64gb 2022 with 100% oem apple battery for only $200. I can reuse my SE2's existing case, and spare screen protectors which is a big plus. The SE2 2020 is still good enough performance for me, but to say the battery is absolutely abysmal is the understatement of the century on this thing, it was never all that when I got it, and 2.5 years later it's one hell of a battery guzzler on LTE data, I'd estimate only about 1 hour screen on time give or take a little, the very poor battery life reared its ugly head a few times during power outages causing me to use my battery banks up way quicker than anticipated. From everything I've seen and read, while not as amazing as newer higher capacity phones, the 2022 SE3 is a world above the 2020 SE2's battery, which is about all I cared about lol. I guess I'm getting about 2 more years of ios updates in the end due to it being a few years newer too. in a comparison, in the day at least, unless very zoomed in, the camera stills on the SE3 looked similar to the newer expensive iphones, video wasn't THAT far off and very usable too. I don't need a ton of storage personally, I just browse online/youtube, mostly text/IM, occasional call and occasional cat pic taken lol. I considered similar prices androids, but, I've gotten extremely frugal as I've gotten a bit older, and, performance/ram and years of update support were very iffy with androids in the ~$200 price range. On androids in that price range and even way higher after watching tons of vids and reading reviews, they either get the same or sometimes less screen on time with their batteries from actual user testimonies than the SE3 gets, so in my price range I wasn't even guaranteed super mega good battery life either unfortunately. After having some VERY sketchy encounters with people in the US supposedly selling factory unlocked androids only to find out they were other carrier phones just GSM unlocked likely missing bands or VoLTE (personally had it happen in the past....curse you ebay seller selling "factory unlocked LG G8" only for it to actually be a T Mobile phone just GSM unlocked without VoLTE......) or GSM unlocked international variants that more than likely wouldn't support the bands I need I was down to either picking the $200 Samsung Galaxy A15 5g or the iphone SE 3rd gen 2022. I was honestly at one point a hair away from considering the Moto G Stylus 5g 2023 or new Moto G Play 2024 since I could find both between ~$130-150ish but Moto's support cycle is pretty paltry honestly, and most of their phones don't have NFC in the US. The G Stylus 5g 2023 did but the lack of long term support killed it for me.

I am a huge fan of the SE (2022). I have owned a few of them but got suckered into getting rid of it and buying the latest and greatest, only to find out in short order that the SE was more than enough phone for my lifestyle. I am now going to buy another one and give it another try. I am leary about buying on the second hand market and may just bite the bullet and get it from Apple. I will find some old iPhone to trade-in to take the edge off the price

Totally agree with you! I am using a Samsung and keep this se 2020 as a backup. I have a magsafe case so I can use a magsafe battery pack. The camera is ok.... but can use as a 2nd screen if you got a dj pocket. This case allows me to connect the device without taking it off. Almost dropped my samsung without the case just to connect the device. Apple still makes the best color accurate lcd screen to date .

My sister in-law 13 pro is stuck in a loop. I gave her my spare iPhone iPhone se3 set it up for her with all her stuff. She likes it better than her 13pro. Going get her fix thank god for apple care

Sorry for your loss, guys! I got the 2023 version last year in case my main iPhone 12 mini dies suddenly. I really like the idea of having a Home button and the battery helps not to do doom-scrolling and waste your time with the device, haha

Have you had any issues connecting certain phones to your Samsung watch aside from an Apple phone?

13 pro max user. Honestly I’d like some type of iPhone SE plus model. I just want the big screen. Also I did look at the 15/ 15 plus and everyone seems to like the new design model but to me it literally feels like a demo phone unit. I’ll keep my 13 pro max until Apple or Samsung makes something worthwhile to upgrade to.

I’ve just finished 2 weeks using a first generation SE as my only phone (just for fun). What shocked me most is that.. it’s just weirdly fine. Terrible battery of course but I could still do everything I use my 13 pro max for.

I still think Apple should make the next iPhone SE based on the discontinued Mini platform. It keeps the small form factor for those that prefer it. I know a bunch of people that buy the SE simply because it’s the only small option. Since the demise of the mini the SE is the only smaller phone available. They already have the necessary tooling and since it didn’t sell well when introduced alongside their normal offerings they won’t have to worry about the SE hurting the sales of the “main” models. At least that’s my thinking. My wife says I need to stop doing that

I have a couple phones. 13 Pro Max, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Pixel 7, and an iPhone SE 2022. I really enjoy the SE because of how small it is. Battery blows, but that’s to be expected. Once Apple supports RCS messaging, I’ll be going back to the S23 Ultra full time.

I like touch ID also. I wish my pixel 6a or others still had it on the back ... The screen one is just 'ok' for me. I use an iPhone SE 2020 as a backup phone. Will probably consider a new SE if released in 2024 or 25 🙂

iPhone SE 3 has been a good phone. My main concern I have about replacing this phone with another iPhone is that I don’t want to deal with eSIM.

That's funny cause I recently bought a refurbished galaxy s10e (256gb, 8gb ram) rated as excellent condition for $170. I'm thinking I'll use this till the wheels fall off cause of the compact size and sidemounted fingerprint scanner. The SE seems solid minus the bezels.

I thought about buying my first iPhone since the iPhone 4 and I´m stuck between a new iPhone SE for 160$ and a new iPhone 12 for 200$. While the iPhone 12 might seem better it terms of display and battery life, the longevity of the iPhone SE it terms of perfomance AND software support is just too good for me to say no.

You are one of the lucky ones with fingerprint readers. My old Galaxy note 10, 22 ultra, 23 ultra and now my 24 ultra. The readers are bad for me. The Only finger I can get to work most of the time in my middle right hand finger. Thumbs will work after I have registered them a couple of times then never again. All phones with rear readers worked most of the time. My old Pixel 5 worked great. I had and iphone SE (1st one) That worked always. I love the my iPhone 15 pro face id. It works all the time. I do have a Pixel 8 and that isn't as bad as the samsungs. My thumbs still work..Mind you I have had my thumbs for 66 years! They must be worn out.

This phone is still relevant. No point in upgrading to the latest iPhone when you have this and want to minimize your phone use. It's still getting iOS updates and still has a SIM tray. I'm in Canada and all the iPhones here have both the physical SIM and the eSIM. But in the US, that can be problematic especially when one swaps phones on a regular basis.

Whatever device you used for this video has a autofocus issue. Entire video camera kept going blurry and then clear and then blurry and video jumping.. What ever device was used for this video has focusing issues.

I'm Anti-Apple and have been since 1989 when I built my first computer. I avoid proprietary systems that dictate how I need to do things. I want to select the best components and do things my way. I love how android allows for customization of the phone display. I want to retain the ability to choose phone brands and the features that are important to me without being locked into a specific ecosystem.

2016 called, they want their phone back... The iPhone SE is in dire, DIRE need of a redesign. The obvious answer is to replace the body with the iPhone mini, but of course Apple won't do that. I have no idea who this phone is for... aside from maybe people who are afraid of change?
