How can I delete, entirely, a calendar. Somehow in the past, I’ve created several. Would like to consolidate and get down to a few basic ones. All I see is a method to select or deselect a previously created calendar. Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
Awesome video. I definitely subscribed to your channel because it was a thorough and easy to follow step-by step presentation. Your speaking voice is professional, calm, perfectly paced, and easy to understand. On a 1-10 scale, I’d give you 10++ !
I just found this informative video as I'm trying to get better acquainted with my iPhone 13. I'm a senior and I've used Android phones exclusively until a few months ago when my thoughtful daughter got me an iPhone. I'm not a big phone user - the small screen strains my eyes after extended use, so I'm happier using my laptop. Smartphones are necesssary these days, for sure! But the differences from the Android to the iPhone are (to me) significant enough to cause me some consternation. I like some things, but others make me long for my comforting old Samsung Galaxy 10. So right now I have a love-hate relataionship, particularly with Siri. One of the things believe it or not, that frustrates me most is the calendar, and all those different calendars and different views, so this video was very helpful.
Understood! The Samsung Galaxy is a nice phone for sure. But if you stick with the iPhone for a while you'll get the hang of it. Don't give up! Thanks so much for watching!
I’m 45 and found this video very helpful and answered a few of my questions. It’s the 6th video I clicked on and none of the previous ones bothered to cover the views. Nice job.
Very good video! If I might contribute one more tip, i find the WEEK view to be the most useful for me, since you can see today’s events along the timeline, but can also see the following few days as well within one simple page. You wouldn’t know how to access this view normally, since there’s no button, but it’s as simple as turning your phone sideways! By holding it in landscape orientation, the days just shift to show multiple days, and to see additional days, you can simply scroll into the future by sliding them to the left. Your most useful tip, in my opinion, is to use Siri to enter items, and I only wanted to further boost your suggestion because I believe that 90% of people who learn how to do this will still never put it into practice, because the first few attempts will seem like more trouble than it’s worth, and until you get comfortable with stating your request clearly, you might think that entering it manually is good enough. I was this way for years, putting it off, because when I’d try, I’d stutter or state things in a way that would confuse Siri, or she would simply not hear me properly, and I’d get frustrated and end up entering it manually anyway. But I noticed how easily my sister used it and so committed to doing verbal instructions exclusively for a while, and once I got the hang of it, it really does save a lot of time. In the beginning, at least, just be sure to double check that it looks right in the calendar. You can even specify the calendar you want it entered on, and whether you’d like a reminder beforehand and other stuff if you get comfortable with including all that. It also helped me to set Siri to listen a little longer than usual, since I do often stumble and forget details, stating things with awkward pauses. It’s a Siri preference you can set so that she doesn’t cut you off at the slightest pause.
What a great comment! And a testament to sticking with it regarding Siri. You are absolutely right that it takes a bit to get the hang of giving Siri directions in a way she can understand. But once you've got it down, it's so much easier. Plus, I should have shown the landscape calendar trick. I hope everyone sees your comment and learns how to do this. Thanks so much for watching!
I couldn’t agree more. I find it’s helpful to learn the names that Siri uses. For example I used to say hey Siri remind me of a Dr. Appointment on Jan 1st at 8 o’clock. She would then make a reminder instead of an event in the calendar. I’d get frustrated because it would never show up. Knowing it’s called an “Event” really helps.
Agreed. Please walk us thru how to have Siri a lot more time when sending requests to her. I’ve gone to Sir in Settings & see nothing relating to her being “more patient”
@@rod6523 you’re right; it’s not easy to find. Go to SETTINGS > ACCESSIBILITY then down to SIRI where you’ll find “Siri pause time”, with options for Default, Longer, or Longest. Nothing more frustrating than feeling the pressure to speak your command quickly and perfectly.
I don't know if I'm missing something. I need a month screen view where I can see the titles of my appointments. Not just a dot saying something is there. I was able to create a shortcut and have Google calendar override Apple's. I forget why I had to create a shortcut rather than download an app. Lol But the icon is cute.
Rich … what am I missing? Since this was an I Calendar video why did you open with setting up a gmail account? I have a couple of those but am moving from PC to Apple. Been using Google calendar for 3 years but wanting to give Apple Calendar a try.
Hi Paul! Many folks have a google calendar account. That's why I mentioned that. So another words, I connected my gmail account (Google Calendar) to Apple Calendar. But you don't have to do that. Your apple iCloud account will work as well. I'm ready to move away from Google so I'll probably be doing what you're doing. Hope this helps.
I just found you Rich..learning lots. For the multiple calendars, I do not have “add calendar”. My iPhone is XR. Would “add calendar” be somewhere else? Thanks.
Need to. Know how view the month, day and year on IMessages on IPHONE 8 plus. Example: 6/25/23 or 6:25/2023 Do you know how to do this? It is often very confusing when day and month are reversed.
Somehow my week starts on Mondays and ends on Sundays… not sure how that happened but I’m frustrated trying to figure out how to switch it to normal calendar layout!
You can change this by going into SETTINGS==>CALENDAR ==> about 3/4 of the way down, you should see “START WEEK ON”. Select the week’s start date and change it to whatever day you like
What is the purpose of having multiple calendars? I like everything on one calendar otherwise might forget to look at all my different calendars and miss something.
Yes! So glad to hear this! I've learned that people's minds work differently when it comes to thinking about how to use their technology. My wife said the same thing: "Why would anyone want more than one calendar? That's too confusing." I know a person who has over 20 calendars - way too much for me! In the end, we experiment and set up what works best for us. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
If you have a Google Calendar any entries you put in that calendar will show up on your iPhone calendar if you add it in. For example, some companies require the use of a Google calendar. Google calendars are probably the most popular calendar on the planet. But if you don't use a Google calendar, there's no need to add a gmail account. Hope this helps.
What’s the advantage of adding a Gmail (Calendar) account to Apple Calendar as oppose to not adding it? Note.- To be more specific. Is the Gmail (Calendar) account added to the Apple Calendar… or is it added to the Apple ecosystem therefore it is parallel and not included (in the Apple Calendar)?
You can share calendars with each other. That way you have each other's calendar. Or you can just share one calendar and both of you use it as a master calendar. Hope this helps.
Ha! No age restrictions! I leaned into the "senior" thing because I started making these videos for my 93 yr old mom. But hey, anyone can learn something new regardless of age!
