update to the latest premiere pro! i have premiere pro 2020 and it's working fine without having to encode anything I used to do this but thank god I don' have to anymore
A better fix is to fix it before it is a problem, a client sent me iPhone clips to edit for a music video and I was having this issue and after a bit of research and trial and error I found that the issue is the iOS video codec go to Settings>Camera>Formats and make sure “More Compatible” is selected
Chulo Productions yea I need to mention that in a future video👍🏾 I've actually tried that too however since I use my phone quit a bit for recording the file sizes are much larger using the "most compatible" (H.264) format. So what ended up happening for me is I can record about 2 videos and I'm out of storage on the device. But this definitely would help if anyone is using their phone for just short clips at a time. Raphael Yeshaya that's what's up bro. Canons are definitely where it's at for vlogs. Maybe the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 works too especially for vlogs, unless u really need the range from the 24-105mm. even though the Tokina has no IS it's so wide you really don't even need it surprisingly!

WOW, and this is still a problem in june 19. I'm having the same problem right now. The first time I have some footage from my iPhone I need to include in a video and have this strange stutter behaviour. I will convert them now, thanks for the tip.
Thank you for this video!! It worked! After chasing down the problem, I changed my iPhone setting to "Most Compatible," and that fixed it for videos shot after I made the change. But that didn't fix the videos I had taken before the change. Until I saw your video! Happy dance!!
😩ya unfortunately it doesn't work if you've already shot it in "high efficiency" but even sometimes the "most compatible" method sucks too because the file sizes can get kinda big😂
Try to film on iPhone using other apps that record with constant frame rate instead of variable! That is the problem of Premiere Pro. I've been struggling with this problem a lot but now I use Adobe Premiere Rush (free version) on my iPhone to film videos. Then I use them in Premiere Pro without the need for the long conversion process.
Still a problem in December 19. Tried your method but it only fixed a few clips unfortunately. Have about 40 clips to work with - guess I'll look for an alternative encoder that isn't Adobe.

We were struggling so much with trying to figure out why our iPhone footage would glitch in Premiere Pro and we kept seeing all these other web forums talking about the graphics card being an issue. So to find out that all we would need to do is convert the file type is a game changer.
Thanks for the video! When I drag the MOV file onto the custom preset in Encoder, nothing happens. I've watched this video before and done this before and it worked fine, but now I made a new preset (bc I couldn't find the old one), I am dragging on top of the preset and when it would normally pop up for me to hit play, nothing happens. I tried rebooting the program, nothing is working... help? thank you!

I need help. I did a proxy project, everything played when but when exporting is when I discovered I have this issue. How can I use this method now that I have finished a 4 hours edit?

While I Made all the file into proxy, I didn’t experience any issue during editing so I thought all was fine. I exported and decided to play the clip I had made and only to discovered that there was a problem
Absolutely. Try right click all those clips in the media pool and "Generate Optimized Media". A window will appear with a progress bar and depending on how much data you have selected in terms of MB, it may take a few minutes. You should not need to re-edit.
@@STGFilmmakers I followed your tutorial fix and it worked. However, I found that I was having it happen periodically on some clips from my iPhone of course. To fix: I closed media encoder and re-opened.
oh hey man, just wondering if you are in the newest Premiere Pro Version. If so have you made a new custom sequence or are you just dragging clips straight into the timeline?
Its because you are using 29.99 frames per second, in his video he was using 24. I also selected 29.99FPS and it takes away the dimension option and locks it to whatever was selected above.

not too sure exactly what youre looking to do :( but you can set the project dimensions to 1080x1920. now you're saying perhaps its displaying a black top and bottom? If so I think all you're looking to do is "resize" the clip? Upscale it? Select clip in Edit page then Zoom it up within the Inspector tab upper right side of window. I hope this is what you're referring to :(

Awesome trick, but let me ask something better... I've noticed that your original videoclip size is 320 mb, meanwhile the converted is 2.96 gb. Let's suppose we've got 5 gb of clips, it means that it could be near to 200 gb. What option can be changed?

Ah yes you can always just choose which Framerate and Resolution you'd prefer in the encoder. It will either upscale or downscale depending on what you've chosen. For example if you have 1080p front cam footage and 4k back camera footage, if you choose 4k in the encoder it will upscale the 1080p into 4k. Resolutions can be a bit tricky, and I'd most likely do two separate renders for each framerate, so if you have back camera 120 fps footage and front camera 30 fps footage I'd do two different renders per framerate and end up with 2 independent clips, one of each framerate. But of course you can always choose 30 FPS in this example and the software would adjust the 120fps into 30fps, however keep in mind after this conversion is made to the 120 fps footage you can no longer use slow motion because the software dropped the additional frames.
Ive had this happen a few times as well. Theres is normally a discrepancy with the timeline frames per second and the project fps. Unfortunately you can have your timeline set to lets say 24fps, but, the project set to 30fps. Every single time ive had audio and video speed up after I start to play it back in timeline its has always been this.
For 60fps clips I normally use the H.264 Preset. After you drag your clip/clips in there are dropdowns, and I choose something like "Match Source - High Bitrate"
