KKR should give Shreyas the top retention spot and retain him at 18cr. There are 2 key reasons: 1. KKR's best auction cycle was 2014-2017 when they won once and qualified 3 out of 4 years. They went into 2014 auction with an Indian captain retained which made it easy for them to build a team and not spend outlandishly just for a captain. 2. The rest of the retention candidates are unlikely to bargain for money. Russell, Narine, Rinku are all KKR permanents and Harshit was given his chance by KKR. Lastly, my view - Shreyas would fetch >16 cr at auction anyway. Indian batters command a premium. Manish Pandey was sold for 11 cr in 2018 when the total purse was around 75cr. KKR foolishly couldn't RTM him. Uncapped batters Tripathy and Nitish Rana made 8-10 cr in 2021 when the purse was only 90 cr. Iyer himself made 12+cr.
Just one observation, when the purse was 90cr, teams had 3 retention + 1 uncapped. 3 retention was at 15, 11 and 7cr respectively. So out of 90cr only 33cr was spent for retention which means teams had 63% of the purse left in the auction. This time teams obtaining 5 players would come in auction with 37% of their purse left to spend in auction and teams retaining 3 will have 64% left. If the majority of the teams retain 5 players, I don't see the price of players in the auction getting too high.
Sort out 5,6,7,8 with Rinku, Russell, Ramandeep and Rana. Also Narine for top order. One RTM for Chakravarty. Try to buy back Nitish, Venky and Vaibhav arora who anyways will be under 10cr for sure.
For me just get the core : 18 Cr Russel 14 Cr narine 11 Cr Varun 18Cr Iyer 14Cr Rinku Ramandeep 4 Cr. Harsheet rana n Arora can be bought under 10 Cr but ramandeep goes in auction he will earn big so better retain raman. In next mini auction they can make the team strong, better believe consistent players like above.
Bro im still confused about sir adhi and his views how can nitish rana after scoring 413 runs or something with 140 sr averaging 31 , captaining the team and ending up at 7 in table perfomed good , very well , fantastic etc But shreyas iyer after scoring 350 runs averaging 40, striking at 145 , won the championship with the team ,placed at 1 in the table isnt that great and releasing him makes sense😂🔥?
I think it is wrong to demand First retention for what ever reason. It is a team sport. It is better for KKR to retain there core in Bowling with one or 2 exceptions. They try to buy back who ever they can in the auction. Last season all 5 to 6 bowlers had good enough of wickets. If they can’t get Mitchel Starc. They can go for Shreyas. Otherwise they should go for Starc, Russel, Narine, Chakravvarthy, Harshit Rana and Rinku sing. Then try to buy back both Iyer, Nitesh Rana, Raman Deep Singh. Out of this if they can buy back 3 players. They will have solid Core. And for keeper batsman, there are lots of Indian and good foreign options. That is 10 good players in the 11. And if they can but all 4 of them. They will have there 11. Then they just wave to go for back up. They can buy them later in the accelerated auction.

If KKR applies brain , then their Possible Retentions would be like this Shreyes 18cr Rinku 14cr Varun 11cr Harshit and Ramandeep at 4cr each Kkr needs to spend just 51 cr for them , subsequently they will enter the auction with massive 70 cr , they can buy back both Russell and narine or RTM one of them
Andre Russell and Narine are players that'd go beyond 18cr. Whereas Nitish Rana, Venky, Varun are players that'd go for around 10cr-15cr max, so they are gettable.
I think there should be 1 pre auction trade... Like if DC wants Shreyas and Shreyas wants to go... Atleast let KKR make some money out of it... There is no guarantee in auction who might get him or at what price. Plus this way they can lock him at 18 before auction and get him to build the team at the auction.

Don't retain Shreyas only for Captainship in 18 Cr... U can buy Kl rahul Or may be Rishav Panth or other big name in auction where U get better batter & WK option as well😊... Best Strategy for KKR will be - RUSSEL( 18), NARINE( 14), RINKU (11).. + 2 Uncapped - Harshit (4) & Ramandeep (4).. U can take 2 Cr (18-2= 16 cr) from Russel give Ramandeep 4+2= 6 Cr... Same take 4 Cr from Sunil (14-4=10cr) & give 4+4 = 8 Cr to Harshit 😊 In this way U spend 51 Cr... 69 Cr left+ 1 RTM too.. Must buy option- Varun 😊 If u have better team & team management U will perform very well in IPL😊.. don't go for shreyas only for captainship
