I'm someone who collects iPods. I'm so glad you called this an iPod nano because so many get this confused with the iPod shuffle. You would not believe how many times that I said iPod shuffle then somebody shows me a picture of that

This was the first iPod that I bought exclusively for gym and running. At the time, phones were way to heavy and cumbersome to have on while exercising. It was fucking amazing.

You can add more apps, voice memos, composers, genre, playlists, genius mixes, songs, books and iTunes U. Most of these can be added in settings and voice memos is activated when you plug in headphones

That is the nanoest of all ipod nanos.

Best technology ever created. I rinsed out one for these for 8 years until it died. I wish they'd remake it with Apple Music and wi-fi

Honestly, this UI is way better than the tiny honeycomb blah (or uninspired list view) they have on the Apple Watch.

Tbh if they could have added only just a ease to see the time feature then this would have been an amazing watch

I just bought one today. Brand new and sealed for $134.99. Checked the serial number before. Everything fine. So excited for it to arrive. It will be awesome for the gym or sports in general 🤗.

Bought one in pristine condition in 2022 for 30€ because I didn't want to carry my huge phone in pocket for listening music, it is really awesome iPod, I used to clip it on my pants while using it, it always had excellent sound quality

I had a 6th gen nano from my mom, but we didn't have apple's ecosystem so I only used the radio function. It died when I accidentally forgot to take it out of my pocket when washing my pants.

Reminds me of my first cell phone that has the same background as an original gameboy screen. It had 8 options on the “internet” it was all text of course and was limited to such categories as: news/weather/sports/stocks/business and 3 others. That was with my first cell phone I had in sophomore year of college, although I got it freshman year of college. Back then no one had a cell phone even at the rich school I went to in Orange County California. This was a school in which most people’s first cars were brand new $28,000 cars on average with maybe a dozen Benz’s and beamers and some classic cars like a Chevy Corvair (67), a Chevy el Camino (73), a few 60’s mustangs, a Chevy Malibu (68) and a few others I can’t think of off the top of my head.

“How do you use it” ha well back in my day kiddo… hahahah you really make me feel old, when I’m 25, these products are simple, they were designed simply and without too many apps because a) we didn’t need them b ) not enough storage capacity and battery.

I remember when the apple watch came out everyone was saying "it's just a nano."

They fit a headphone jack in that small iPod but does the iPhone 7 was too small 🤔

Fun fact, this iPod nano was given away to those who owned certain models of the 1st gen iPod nano during a very lately timed recall. I sent off a very broken obsolete 1st gen n received this in return for free, I miss that level of customer service lol

Yet they "can't fit" a headphone jack on new phones. If you cab fit it on that, and a phone that it cuts into the back of, you can fit it on your new phones

Question that's been on my mind: is it even possible to find the batteries for these anymore? Watching a lot of reviews on the old ipods, this model seems to have a significantly iffy battery life compared to some of the others. Which isn't exactly surprising, given these are at least a decade old, and I doubt they produce the batteries anymore. I can hope, I guess. I think I would only get one of these if I could guarantee at least one battery replacement, but it's nice to think about getting one of these to carry around while skating. That would be perfect!

Hey Kiddo this isn’t some sort of “relic” from the past it’s a Nano made in late 2000’s lol. It’s not anything special. I don’t even consider iPod video’s to be anything worth talking about besides the fact they were $300 for the lower model and that was like half my paycheck at Best Buy at the time as a SUPERVISOR! Haha. It takes me back though to simpler times for sure. Whenever I see videos of kids talk about this stuff like they’re showing a vintage beta tape player it makes me laugh. Oh silly kids, you really got the short end of the stick by being born way too late and not getting to enjoy the last good years to grow up in (late 80’s/90’s). It’s funny hearing how jealous kids are that they didn’t grow up then as well, but at the same time I don’t feel that Gen-Z and millennials deserved to grow up then because that would infer they deserved a happy childhood and not the miserable one they had. I mean how could dumb kids possibly “enjoy” life without cell phones, full fledged internet and computers to write papers on! They would have been miserable being forced to hand write papers for school, actually have to go to REAL friends houses to hang out, and to be forced to converse with others while hanging out instead of being glued to their phones. So why would Gen-z losers want to grow up when we did? Haha…keep pretending it was better to have cell phones in school, social media, computers for everything and not needing to speak with people next to you. Oh ya and don’t forget these ancient things called “books” we were required to read for school and otherwise.

My sister bought this as her iWatch. I believe Apple didn't like the 5th Gen nano being treated as a wristwatch, but third parties keep making watch accessories for it.

You can say what you want about Apple but their products work good and are longer lasting. Android is so laggy and trash after 5-10 years

I just found my dad’s iPod gen 3 laying in the garage, used the charger from my old iPhone 4 to charge the iPod (don’t ask me why k still have the charger for it) plugged in the earbuds, and it had some banger music (I found it today)

Honestly I think Apple made this thing to be the prototype for the Apple Watch. They probably knew people would wear it like one after all. Especially since the first Apple Watch released only 5 years later… the design is similar in many ways too. Plus they never revisited this as the final nano took on a more “fit bit / mini iPhone” look.

I hate Apple and have never bought any of their products. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't like this form factor back when it first was announced when I was about 16. I even remember thinking how cool it would be to wear it on a watch band and watch movies on. I was a dumb kid.
