Hello,
This video shows the process I use to replace a defective battery in the ipod nano 7th and 8th gen. A defective battery can cause your ipod to not power on, have connection issues, and or loose charge rapidly.

Nice video. My gen 7 I've used SO MUCH since i got it like 10 years ago and still want to use it. Only works when plugged into power source. Im confident in my ability to do this but my soldering skills are god awful. Soldering guitar cables hasnt gotten any better all these years later. Thank you

@@MarsMaster636 I installed a new battery and its working. I did mess up though. Cracked the screen protector and messed up the thin strip to connect the power button. I can replace the screen protector but im just happy its working so I'll hold off for now.

Hi, I followed all the steps but when it came to soldering the battery out it wouldn't come off easily so pried out while soldering. Put the new battery in but now it won't work at all. Any ideas? Did I pry out the connector pins? Is there anything I can do before I conduct the last rites? )-:

My nano has been stuck on the Apple logo and i was going to throw it away...mind you i have ALL my music there...I thought of checking here to see if there was a fix and VOILA! i found your video. Now i am going to order the battery, and try to do this, and see if i can recover all my music! (will update after my attempt).

I normally just deal with the "classics" but i really love the 7th gen nano, but im not paying what most people are charging for them on ebay, plus you will probably have to either throw it or do this anyway at some point. THANK YOU for this, Ive subbed and confuident too that i can now buy a dead one and bring it back to life. Cheers. Looks really simplle but i bet its NOT. Cheers

Apart from this step, everything was good. I think he uses superglue(secondglue). It's not so easy to get it open again and definitely damages the Bluetooth antenna.

Hi, very helpful video I recently bought one of these with a battery problem and i’m gonna follow your steps to try to fix it, i’m new to soldering and wondering when you were lining up the new battery to the solder did you just heat up the metal you put on the battery to make them stick together? thanks a lot!
@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 2 года назад
Basically. Be sure to preload the metal tabs on the battery with new solder, heat up the tab, then place a small amount of solder onto them. Careful when lining up the tabs, and do not put too much solder.

@TheFixTech
@TheFixTech 2 года назад
As long as the solder is not jumping into the other tabs (connecting negative to positive) you should be okay. To remove excess solder just heat up the solder and use a copper wire to extract the excess.

Thanks for video👍 My ipod bluetooth connection is weak. When it is in my pocket, music can freeze or just lost till bringing it very close to my airpods. Could the reason be battery or just bluetooth is already older on these devices?

Everything was going good until that last part where you crazy glued the fucking BT shield😂🥴 Seriously just use some good double sided sticky tape. That way when the battery goes out again you can fix it again.
@mmmbbq
@mmmbbq 2 года назад
That's what I was thinking. I'd use the least sticky glue I could so I could get it apart again. My nano spends 99.5% of it's life in a case, anyway.

@air_

Sorry if this is late but you should keep your battery between 20-80%. Leaving it dead or fully charged for long periods of time will destroy the battery.
@jubear1493
@jubear1493 Год назад
I'd assumed running Bluetooth on my Nano 7 was what was draining it sooo quickly. (I bought it 2nd hand, last year) Guessing now the fact that its battery is probably so old, its pretty hard to get though just one album without it dying on me?

@@TheFixTech That would be great! I bought my iPod on eBay and I think it was refurbished and I think they took out the white plastic part that covers the inner circle port. And now the connection messes up easily and distorts the sound. I'd like to keep this iPod for as long as possible. :)
