Ippei is not a fall guy. It’s actually the other way around. Even after his confession to Ohtani privately, he begged Ohtani to go along with his lying story to avoid jail time. He is a serious fraud. I hope they give him the sentence he deserves.

33 years is absolutely extreme. You have people who kill people getting less than that. This isn’t justice. 33 years is wild. It’s essentially rest of his life, for fucking with money. Meanwhile killers get less.

@@acn.4632 you are not wrong. But I see things differently. None of this happened if Ohtani had a normal level of willingness to get involved with his own financial matters. Also this could have been avoided if Ohtani's management company took stricter measures on checking Ohtani's financial matters. All these holes allowed Ippei to steal the money. He is wrong, that's clear. But how many people wouldn't have been tempted in his situation? I just wonder. Imagine you had a weird friend who only cares about one thing and left everything else, including his huge bank account, and trusted you with everything? That's not easy.

He didn’t have to pay. “He has been free on an unsecured $25,000 bond, colloquially known as a signature bond, meaning he did not have to put up any cash or collateral to be freed. If he violates the bond conditions -- which include a requirement to undergo gambling addiction treatment -- he will be on the hook for $25,000.” This is the first criminal charge against him.
