Come on Rich.... So much focus on the $16mil that you forgot to say a single "sorry" word for all the attempts to put dirt on Ohtani during these past 3 weeks??? Ohh, well I guess its easier to just try and paint Ohtani as a dumb guy for not knowing that his account was manipulated and not noticing the loss, but maybe that is actually a really good example to all of us tha we should not be so obsessed with money. I'm sure Ohtani will be a lot more carefull with his finance moving fwd, but also sure he will not become like most people money oriented and will continue enjoing his life as really cool and successfull ultra hard workig person! And you the media guys in general really could try to grow up a bit on his example... uff

If you knew how little money Ohtani used daily in Japan, you can understand that he doesn’t keep track of his money as closely the others do. He even returned his allowances for school trips if he had any left over money. Would you have done that? I would say “no; other people would not return the left over allowance money. If you hear his parents talk about Ohtani, you will understand him better and say that Ohtani would only say the “TRUTH”.

Rich Eisen, just listen to the DOJ press conference rather than continuously making foolish statements. Mizuhara set up Ohtani's team salary bank account and intentionally kept Ohtani's financial advisor from looking at the account. Ohtani has known Mizuhara since 2013, and was his de facto manager since 2018. When Ohtani won the AL ROY, he singularly thanked Mizuhara. Even for Ohtani, losing 16M must hurt, but the feeling of betrayal probably hurts more. Ontani was the victim here. Stop making fun of him.
@hmm-2023

In Japan, Ohtani never managed his salary himself; he entrusted it all to his mother. When he came to the US, he continued this practice with Ippei, allowing him to manage all his earnings. Unfortunately, Ippei betrayed his trust.

We live in Tokyo for 30 years and follow Ohtani. My Japanese wife thinks Ippei Mizuhara is actually of Korean decent. She thinks he is not Japanese at all. Mizuhara's wife is Korean and usually they end up taking Japanese names from their Korean immigrant relatives. Mizuhara lied about everything he did and even who he was.

Ohtani was reported to have made $100 Million in salary and endorsements last year and he isn't a Flashy spender of Money. So Ippei Mizuhara committed Bank Fraud, he knew how to set up the account and Ohtani trusted Ippei who took care of Shohei's shopping, Dry cleaning and Car maintenance. This has happened to many wealthy people when they trust their accountants. WOW $16 Million ! Kizuhara will have plenty of time to regret his gambling addiction, up to 30 Years in Prison !

Dude if I had even a quarter of 16M I would legit be happy for life and would not need any more than that. That being said, any amount of stealing is just bad. But stealing 16M is just plain overkill.
