As a spectator of banger finals in the 70s Full of Granadas whilst mouldy old dough was being played on the warm up lap I never thought that over 50 yrs later Everything would be the same ?! Much more artistic cars these days though. AWESOME designs and motorsport Support your local track guys n gals 👌
Great footage. The cars looked cool, some nice artwork and lettering. A couple of big hits and follow-ups, the crowd looked like they were enjoying themselves as much as the drivers!
Lots of hits too and great raceing too I used to love the would final s at the great Wimbledon stadium in London lot of great memories at that place I still miss it now all so like the Aldershot stadium in tongham wich on the 21 November will be 30 year s where has the time gone
Some of the cars are so battered that you're thinking there is absolutely no way that they're coming out again for another round of racing. Low and behold they come out and get around, an absolute testament at how good the mechanics are.
Man I need to bring a car over there from here in the USA. Bring over a Checker Marathon C-3 Taxi Cab. Or a Checker Marathon C-3 Airport taxi. They're built like tanks.
Quite a few cars aren't allowed because they're too strong, like Chrysler Imperials, and some left-field things like van based SUVs. They just annihilate everything else.
Something that's confused me about banger racing is the number of similar cars. It's always Granadas, XJs, Volvo 240/740, Merc E class, or Mondeo, Focus or Astras in the 2L. Why are those so ubiquitous and we never see other cars that were driven in droves like Toyota Avensis, Vectras, Civics, Almeras, 3 series, Passats, Octavias etc etc.?
Joe Edwards.. the epitome of a classic car collector.. with no classic car or money or ability to restore one. If its low skill they you would easily win if you had a go? I'll put up the money for you to race, if you turn up and do it
