It’s time to clarify something important. Being diagnosed with autism does not mean someone lacks IQ or intelligence. It means they don’t understand language like a neurotypical person does. I mean, if you speak English only, but took an IQ test in Mandarin, you’d probably not score very high.

My SAT scores were not that great (900 range). The first time I took the GRE, the verbal was in the 11th percentile. I found out how the test worked and brought it up to the 50th percentile second time around. Then I took the raven's advanced progressive matrices and my score was in the 95th percentile. I think I might be autistic. My AQ was 38. Aspie quiz was 122. I took the RAADS-R and I think it was in the 130's. CAT-Q was also way above average. I was also diagnosed with APD and my test indicated I might also have a neurological language disorder, but I never got tested for that. I think I'm fairly smart. I'm about to get my PhD to be a scientist.

Concept formation requires language. If you cannot construct a sentence, youncannot think that sentence. You cannot assume someone has a high or normal IQ if they cannot construct concepts. Language is proof of intelligence.

Not true at all. Do you think a baby doesn't think? At all? Or a dog? And what about all those people who "don't have an inner monologue"? I am a highly linguistic thinker, but others self-report that they are a highly visual thinker. They think in images. You sure are confident in your error. Not to mention in the case of autism, they can often understand 100% but cannot verbalize. I am autistic and I was mute for a time. That doesn't mean I was stupid during that time. I was having a traumatic response.

@Ayverie4 Animals and babies and people a lot more often than you think use perceptual awareness and classical conditioning. No concepts needed. A concept is different than sounds and symbols
