Agree - this album a quite simply a masterpiece. This song is absolutely otherworldly.

My opinion is they are THE best one, no doubt on this since I met them back in 86. There are lots of excellent proggers around for sure, but for 35 years on, I've never been disapointed by any of their efforts, quality growing on and on album after album. Pinacle !

W&W wasn't very good.....I was there in 1976....too many better prog rock albums to name here... you'll find out😋

The beginning reminds me of the ambient section of Close to the Edge, slightly before they start singing "In her white lace..."

Listen to the repeating bassline in the instrumental section around 9:00... it's very close to the bass in "Ritual" from Tales from Topographic Oceans.

From my point of view, In Sheltered Winds indeed is a very good album , though it has not much to do with iQ , very little in common ,except for Peter Nicholls...who is the only musician in common ... always a very emotional voice , but there is not so much BEAUTY in Niadem's Ghost ... as far as i can remember, it's been a while since i listened to Sheltered Winds, which i think is the one and only sole Niadem's Ghost album , dating from the time when Peter had left iQ , 1986-87, after the legendary The Wake album , and before his fabulous comeback with the so beautiful Ever album . To me , iQ is such a great band , and Fallout is a masterpiece that moves me so much , my very favourite track on Resistance . No words can describe how much i love most of that song Fallout , which of course demands deep listening with good concentration and real attention , as we all know...cheers.

The first IQ album I came across was " The Seventh House", followed some while later with "Dark Matter" I wasn't overly excited by them at first, I was more interested in Porcupine Tree at the time, but they have grown in my appreciation over time. I didn't find out about the "connection" with Niadem's Ghost until sometime between the two albums. This track,as you say, is terrific. I now have "Subterranea" but haven't really listened to yet, I have listened on here to some of "Road of Bones", what a concept, and like it more each time. My problem with music is that my taste is way too eclectic, which is a great problem to have :-) but I am inundated with albums and downloads going back 60 odd years and there aren't enough hours in a day. In the realms of prog Camel has always been with me,I bought the album "Dust and Dreams" from the States, and downloaded " Harbour of Tears" recently, very melancholic, great music. Most of music I listen to is odd or weird ranging from Ozric Tentacles Nefilim ( Zoon), Heilung , Vivaldi, Hawkwind, Sula Bassana, Alan Parson Project, Airbag, Holger Czukay, loads of old rock/prog/psych, L'Epee (Diabolique) a great album, OM, The Savage Rose, POAAFF, hundreds of the bloody things. Jazz, RIO, Zeuhl, Psych,Jazz/Rock, Electronic, are you bored yet?, I am, so I am going to bed. Enjoy your musical journey.... cheers & goodnight :-)

@@ianwilkinson4602 Thanks for sharing some of your good music taste :-) Of all those artists you mention , the only one that i must have seen live is Vivaldi ;-) maybe half a dozen time or probably more , probably always concerts of Le quattro stagioni ... ( and some other stuff by Vivaldi too... ) Now, you mention Zeuhl , do you refer to Magma ,or to other artist(s) ...? And i also have seen maybe 5 times Magma , and a funny thing , my first Magma concert was a triple prog' concert in Paris around 1990 or so, with iQ playing as second artist just before Magma , if i recall correctly... What is L'Epee , is it Emmanuelle Seigner 's album ? Among all the rest , i know only Airbag which i enjoyed very much ! what is your favorite Airbag album ? ...Of course i have heard of Ozric but don't remember that i ever listened to... and i have heard of Hawkwind , and have listened to some albums by Alan Parson , though i don't remember them ! Yes, L'Epee is an Emmanuelle Seigner Band the album I think is called "Diabolique" not prog but interesting, my favourite French language album is "Mana Perdu..." by ELOHIM more art rock than prog, others are La Nature Vit by ORION prog, En Regardant Passer le Temps by Carpe Diem prog Grime by GRIME prog lots of others.POAAFF are a Belgique prog band the album is "The Attic Chronicles", another great band from the same country is HYPNOS69 best album is "Legasy" prog/art rock , CLEPSYDRA is a band from Switzerland, excellent album "More Grains of Sand" emotional prog/art rock, Recently found AIRBAG so no favourite yet, more prog bands to explore,WERWOLF- Creation, WINDCHASE--Symphinity, MAGIC PIE-- Motions of Desire & The Suffering Joy, CIRCUS MAXIMUS--Nine, EARTHSIDE--A Dream in Static, BUBU--Anabelas, RAPSODY OF FIRE--Symphony of Enchanted Lands, ACANTHE--Someone,Somewhere, PHIDEAUX-- Doomsday Afternoon, POOR MAN'S GRAVY--Heavy Glow, STILL CORNERS--Strange Pleasures, MYSTERY--Lies and Butterflies, MASTER BOOT RECORD--Internet Protocol . Same here ; Am in love ,deeply,yes,with Fallout . As for them lyrics meaning , am afraid it shall remain a mystery untill the end of times...yes, i believe that even the english native don't get it all for certain maybe ?... and this might be part of the beauty of this musical poetic art , this very fact that we all , must try and make our own interpretation and self, subjective understanding of those words... maybe it's for the better...?? i don't have the answer, anyway...cheers.

I think it's been written about the "apocalypse", which has been prophesised , and peter nicholls recalling a life on the learning curve, -describing being human, but inside, realising our mortal soul will transcend into spirit when we are gone from this mortal coil.
