This series of beginner guide to iRacing has been huge in my helping to understand how iRacing works and the community works and getting up and going into it. i already had my first rookie race and it was really fun!

Awesome video Dan! Thank you for raising awareness! I would like also mention that we have native VR integration in the overlay app, which os wuite unique. If you are using VR, usually u need to use a third party app to see the overlays in your vr. With us its natively supported, no need for other app. ;)

Cheapest Road to A Class is pretty simple actually :) Do MX5 Rookie till you get D4.0 or greater. Then do Advanced Mazda till B (you only have to buy 1 track, or if lucky no track at all :D )and well ... then just drive whatever you want :)

@@carnaedy Fanatec Street Stock, NASCAR SK Modified, iRacing Street Stock Series-C and/or NASCAR Tour Modified, NASCAR iRacing Class B (Xfinity). Street Stock is free, SK and Tour Modified is the same car or two cars for the price of one.

Thanks for producing these guides, as an iRacing newbie I found them very helpful to navigate the iRacing world. I would like to hear your experience from your early years, I am using a nine year old pc with a mediocre video card, and a basic wheel I had in my cupboard that I got for the PS4 and never used. Getting the most out of an old pc, desk wheel and a regular monitor is quite a challenge. I have been using the AI race feature as a tool to learn race craft and new tracks before jumping in with the other carbon based drivers.

Dan, Thanks so much for doing this series! Just starting sim racing, on AC, and really don't understand the online side of it at all,,(maybe you could cover that in a video sometime) Thinking about the iracing, it seems so much more structured than the other sims, I don't even know if AC even has a Rookie Program... Thanks so much again, looking forward to your next video in this series!!!! W

Very useful video, just one suggestion I usually use myself, bind a key to the #clear macro and use it at the begin of the race so you don't need to uncheck the 4 tyres one by one. This is useful in every race which doesn't need tyre replacement

You can also change the app.ini so a car will never take tyres unless you specifically tell it to... can't remember the setting though... PhilBedsMan...

Will you do more episodes? Really looking forward on how to progress to A license and what to do then... Also you talked earlier about not progressing through BMW 12.0 and GTE but just farm Mazda races... You didn't talk about why and what to do next :) I need to know! I'm new xD have no idea how to progress cost efficient. Also wondering what cars and tracks would be "best" to buy after starting out and why. Also would love to know the different paths for open wheel vs GT cars..

Considering giving iRacing a go and this series has been great for getting some understanding on how it would work. The one question I have is related to the setups. At what point do you need to start worrying about it or should a beginner already be tuning something? I think I can handle the learning curve of driving, but not sure how much time I want to put into learning setting up different cars.

I'll cover this in one of the next episodes. But I think most series in D class are fixed. I would suggest to start with one of the shop setups - I can recommend craigsetupshop.co.uk/ or if you want a free option: setups4i.racing/ I'm on iRacing for nearly 2 years now and only know the basics in setup making :D

yes :) check the control menu for next/previous black box and then the select next/previous control, increment, decrement and toggle controls

for what racelab's app is, it's great for standings and relative, but the fuel just looks wonky. overall very good overlay, well-featured and customizable. definitely solid for racing and it's FREE!

I've had very good results with the latest fuel calculator from them. In fact better than Kapps as it takes pitstops and therefore potentially shorter races into account.

Hello ! I just discovered the channel because i'm starting iracing rn as well. You're doing a super job giving us little tips likee that ! +1 sub. I was wondering : do you use 900° of steering for every cars or just certain types of cars because i have a formula-type wheel and so idk what to put when i'm driving in round wheels

Yeah I use 900° globally ... iRacing will take care of that and configure it properly per car :)

Hey dan, I get a constant stuttering while using overlays in iracing, even though iracing says it’s showing 120 fps. Btw I run it in windowed and borderless, but can’t stop that stuttering. It only appears when the overlays are in front of iracing.

Yeah unfortunately for some people it doesn’t work with the overlays - I don’t really know any solution. If you use Kapps try enabling (or disabling) the HW acceleration - that sometimes seem to help

Dan Suzuki I use racelab, I tried lowering the priority of the overlays and it works now, I had to also Lower iracing graphics but it works!

If I am really supposed to do all this calculus mid race, with calculators on-screen I am fucked. Is there really no better way to be able to leave everything organized pre-race? EDIT: Sadly one year later the guys at RaceLab have hidden a lot of cool features under the PRO license, at 4€ per month jesus christ lmao

Good video Dan, I watch all of yours. I've been on racing for a long time and my biggest issue, and it sounds like for others too is graphics problems...stutters suddenly appearing and low FPS. I have a high end set up and two GTX1080TIs and have tried everything from optimising windows/nvidea, to over clocking but still don't get good performance. Looking at your settings, there's no way I could run them Could you do a video on tips for better graphics performance for racing please?
