If I’m not mistaken the Boeing 747-200 was introduced in 1971, which would make the plane 50 years old! It’s a miracle that the Iranians have been able to maintain these planes in working conditions, after all these years. I shudder to imagine the metal fatigue load leading to catastrophic structural failures on these old workhorses after 50 years of repeated in-flight stresses, landing cycles, cabin pressurizations etc. Let’s hope they are using laser peening technology to prevent metal fatigue in mission critical parts; as well as insuring system performance, longevity, and reliability using avionics upgrade packages. Notwithstanding, a great video of a professional crew in action.
I used to go to Iran from Narita. I have liked Iran Air 747SP since I was a kid. The first time I got on it was EP-IAC. I was really sad to retire in 2016, but thanks to you, I feel like I've been riding the 747SP all the time. I'm looking forward to seeing other videos of Iran Air 747SP pilots.
Enjoy the beautiful and classic B747-200. This video was filmed in 2012. Let me know below in the comments below 👇👇 if YOU have been lucky to fly in the B747-200 yourself ?
1987 when I was 7 went with this beauty to paris Charles de Gaulle airport, I don't know why but I remember everything about that flight, that time peoples could have some smoke upstairs in front of big screen it was like cinema in my eyes
Loving these classic Iran Air videos! It is rare to see such high quality footage of these birds, especially the now retired EP-IAH. EP-ICD is the the last remaining Iran Air 747 at the moment.
I flew the 747-100/200/300 for a freight company… I had 2 Iranian FE’s.. fantastic professionals and wonderful people. From these videos I can see the professionalism continues!
I don't think Iran Air spend a lot of money on spares at Boeing for their remaining 747s, but they are known to be quite ingenious at reverse engineering parts that they need to keep these oldies flying. Well done.
Unfortunately they are not allowed to spend any money on aircraft parts due to sanctions. Thank god they are good at maintaining them anyway. Thanks for watching.
Yes, such a pride people... The Iranian penal code calls for punishments such as death by hanging, stoning[68] or decapitation. Lesser crimes are punished by amputation or flagellation. (Crimes in this category include adultery, alcohol consumption, burglary or petty theft, rebellions against Islamic authority, apostasy and homosexual intercourse).[69] Intentional bodily injury or homicide "resulting in amputation of body organs, infliction of wounds and blinding is entitled to seek retaliation, and death penalty could be imposed by way of retaliation for intentional homicide upon the request of the heirs of the victim - with the exception of the spouse." As of 2018, women were still being sentenced to stoning in Iran.[80] Sharia explicitly states that stones used must be small enough to not kill instantly.[81][82][83] The testimony of a male witness is equivalent to that of two female witnesses.[87][90][91] Yes, but the sanctions are the problem... not the rotten ideology of Islam, the violence-ridden culture or the totalitarian government... no, it's the sanctions. To be clear, I am fully aware that the majority of Iranians probably, hopefully, detest these things but are not courageous enough to finally overthrow their government, but to pretend that Iran is this misunderstood paradise and all that is wrong with it are any issues due to sanctions... please!
Excellent.. with less resources they still maintaining all the flight in good condition. I know most of them are well experienced pilots...👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love to fly with homa always
Kudos to Iran Air and its pilots for maintaining and flying these all analog machines . No mean feat given the sanctions and spares . Beautiful people and a beautiful country.
Truly an amazing Boeing Aircraft here. My career outline, I first started on dc9's in 1993-2000 with about 4900 hrs. Next i lucked out and found an opening, so i transferred aircraft's retrained on the 747 accumulating roughly 4200 hrs on the 200's from 2000 to 2006 as co pilot. I continued on the 400 series afterwards and picked up an additional 6500 hrs until about 2015. Total 747 hrs just shy of 11000hrs. Nowadays im currently flying the new a330-900neo. There will always be a place in my heart for the queen of the skies and this video just brought back old memories at northwest. Thanks for sharing this
One day being one of the topest air carrier in the world before the revolution and a pride for the nation but not feeling good these days . Hope a day should come with that feeling to the nation
Would you know if this 747-200 is one of Qantas Australia planes which they sold to Iran Air. Iran purchased 3 747-200 from Qantas Airways.. Great content awesome video 👍
Yes they did, but as they were discovered and it violated the embargo they never could use them. So, this aircraft is Iran Air since delivery from Boeing if my memory servers me correctly. Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you very much 🙏this footage was so beautiful👍 honestly I did not think Those beautiful birds are still flying around with a three-man cockpit! Noticed the flight is to Istanbul and I was just wondering can they legally get through euro channel? Still I think the professional crew and maintenance are superb in that airline👏👏👏👍👌
Thank you for watching. That's because each engine performs differently, especially on an old aircraft like this. Each throttle is adjusted individually.
No not that, when descending you do not need that much of trust and also you don’t want to go low on all engines RPM. So the pilots use 2 of the engine trusts and less trust on the other 2 engines. A lot of technical details involved.
Sometime during this flight they had a problem with the #4 generator as the CSD is now disconnected with the corresponding yellow light showing CSD low oil pressure and the #4 GEN light is on also at 27:14. This is not a big problem as these are 60 KVA generators and the other 3 are more than enough to power the aircraft.
the plane shown in the video is now ep-iah, it's infact ep-iam, who is a 747-186B, and not a 747-200. the captain even says the reg at 19:20 (yes i also know the captain said it's a 747-200 but he's wrong)
Ok, so what are you saying exactly ? The registration on the aircraft was EP-IAH, also seen on cockpit plate at 18:10 in the video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wwIrvQE8B7E.html What are you saying happened to this aircraft ?
Despite whatever sanctions America put on Iran for some good reason they kept the same American made aircraft airworthy this and the F14 tomcat which is still a well respected fighter in the air today!
why the Captain set autopilot off and on again with the landing, and why the Captain manual speed low and faster and low and faster all time, and why the Captain not take radio a heat ????
