Germany didn't start targeting British civilians until the British had already started bombing German cities. Hitler, especially early on, still held on to hope that he could declare peace with UK in a few months and the two races could possibly form an alliance against US one day (the real string-pullers of 'international jewry'). UK bombed non-military targets first, in the hopes of hitting logistics targets in 1940.
@hrthrhs
@hrthrhs 7 лет назад
Wow wtf is everyone saying in reply to your comment. On the precise matter of bombing civilians to reduce their moral but ended up having the opposite effect - the comparison is sound. Although both the British and Germans tried and failed at this. Hitler wanting peace with the UK? If you have a source to this please share. I think you're referring to the unofficial stalemate which happened when Germany made it across the European continent to the west but couldn't cross the sea to Britain. This only happened as Britain's Navy was significantly more powerful that Germany's. It was then when Hitler broke the non-aggressive pact with USSR and tried to invade them. From memory I do believe it true the British bombed German civilians first, in Berlin. I have read the squadron which did this became lost as night runs were a relatively new tactic and bombed Berlin by mistake. Hitler then retaliated with his own bombing runs on civilians. Even still, the Brits did cross the line with their civilian bombing runs which forced even themselves to question how far they were going. WW2 was pretty fucked.

komigennufan hahah Hezbollah is in Lebanon not Afghanistan you know what your government did when the soviets invaded Afghanistan they created al Queada to kill the communist and then Al Queada used American tax payer money to fly the planes in the towers search it up. Tell me how Hezbollah is a terrorist group give me a example and I will contour you with something bad the U.S did hell I will even pre counter you the U.S blew up a Iranian passenger plane killed 275 people including 75 children , theplane did nothing wrong as proven in U.S data bases . It was 100% authorized to fly an what happened after that the U.S said they are sorry then gave the captain that shoot down the plane a metal. Look at all the countries th U.S is in Iraq,Syria,Libya,Somalia tell me that your proud of what they did. If it wasn’t for America ISIS wouldn’t even be able to step an inch in Iraq with the power Paul army.

Hello from Mexico, I was very young when I used to watch almost everyday the 2:00 o'clock news, the news on the PERSIAN GOLF WAR, that's what they called it back then and I never understood quite well what was this war about, and I am sure most of the mexicans didn't either, we only used to say "poor people, why are they fighting???, there must be a lot of people dying in both countries" and so on. Today is clear to me, that many wars in this region have been caused or at least encouraged by foreign interests, shame on them for doing such an evil act of destruction. I just hope there's a god so he can make them pay for what they have done!!!

How is this war, in specific, caused by foreign interests? This seems to be motivated by the interests of Iran and Iraq, and much of the Cold War in the Middle East was fomented by Middle Eastern nations. No doubt, foreign interests were involved, but saying it was the root cause is foolish.

Jabzy You mixed up the current Supreme Leader Khamenei with Khomeini 1-Khomeni NOT Khamenei. So gotta change that Khamenei image. 2-Iran's Khuzestan over the years was diluted from a solid Arab majority due to the settling of Farsi speakers from the heartland by the Shahs. But as someone just pointed out it's majority Arab.

@MrZZooh
@MrZZooh 9 лет назад
***** Relax baba. I know about most of these things. But if you look into it, you'll see that since the time of Reza Shah, they had been moving Farsi-speakers from Yazd and central Iran into those areas to dilute it. But yeah it's majority Arab. And I can talk however I want to. I was 6 years old when the war ended. Whatever I know is from second hand accounts. I still have some faint memories of Iraqi planes flying over Tehran. That's it. And Shah giving away Bahrain? Has nothing to do with me dude.
@MrZZooh
@MrZZooh 9 лет назад
Monarchists? Are you kidding me? They're either dead or about to die or are so irrelevant that nobody even remembers them. If you look around a little, you'll see that the two Shahs both moved Farsi people into Iran's non-Farsi areas. Khuzestan was no exception. Sheikh Khazal was one such separatist. Your stats and tale about the early days of the Iran-Iraq war could be right. But the point is that, ethnic dilution has been going on there for years. They changed the name of "GharaDagh" to "Siyah-Kooh" and have been changing names of Azerbainjan's cities to Farsi names. It won't change the majority language that people speak there, but it shows that this government, as well as the last one, is trying to deal with Iran's ethnic diversity by making them all Farsi which is stupid. There's a better way to handle this. All they gotta do is give them some rights, such as local language classes and what not.

Unfortunately, Saddam's aggression against Shias in Iraq not only resulted in American invasion in Iraq but also resulted in the growth and secterianism and therefore the growth of groups like ISIS in Iraq. @sabbirsaadat344
@sabbirsaadat344 8 лет назад
+Oliver Morland Israel wasn't supplying Iran with weapons to maintain Iranian support for them. In the video, the Iran-Contra affairs is mentioned. Basically, US president Ronald Reagan wanted to keep funding the Contra fighters in Nicaragua, but Congress refused to pass it. So he decided to secretly sell weapons to Iran and use the proceeds to keep funding the Contras. Now to do all this "secretly" is where Israel came into play. And why did they fund Iran of all? People may have different views about this, if you watch the movie "Lord of War", there is scene which shows an Israeli arms dealer boasting to the protagonist of the movie, played by Nicolas Cage, that he sold weapons to both Iran and Iraq during the 1980s war. When Cage argued that the arms dealers was just a businessman without any political motives and he didn't care as to who won or who lost, the dealer replied, "Did it never occurred to you that I wanted both the countries to lose?"
@olivermorland5226
@olivermorland5226 8 лет назад
Sabbir Saadat That's interesting. But I still think Israel's government was in favour of Iran during the war, mainly because Iraq was so hostile to Israel and Iran had been much less hostile to Israel before the revolution. And they probably hoped that would continue with post-shah Iran.
@sabbirsaadat344
@sabbirsaadat344 8 лет назад
Oliver Morland Pre-revolution Iran (an Iran with more civil and religious liberties but a puppet US dictatorship with a brutal secret police force, the Savaks, suppressing any kind of political dissent or calls for reform) is entirely at odds with the post revolution one (a theocratic regime pioneering in the slogan "death to America"). I believe people in Israeli politics were informed and shrewd enough to realize that now they had not one, but two formidable foes.
@USB740
@USB740 8 лет назад
+Oliver Morland Without help from Israel, Iran would not have been successfull in the few battles which they managed to win. Israel gave the Khomeini regime spare parts for their fighter aircraft and their US made tanks, and also gave them hundreds of TOW launchers + missiles and spare parts + missiles for HAWK SAM. At the same time Iranians were shouting Death to USA and Death to Israel and Khomeini held speeches during every friday prayers, denying getting helped by the same countries he vowed to destroy, it was a spectacle bizarre scene.

Also the reason that iran continued was not to take a chunk but to Iraq be known as starter of war in UN resolution and stopping Sadam from attacking because a ceasefire would get him a chance to regroup his army. Although after resolution 598 still was some conflicts and even after while Sadam being unpunished attacked Kuwait.

Iran and Iraq both became militarized after oil prices steeped. Saddam had the 5th largest army in the world, and the Shah had 4th. They had many military quarrels, the last of which was over Shattul Arab (aka Arvand River) in which the Shah took control of the river using his military might. Now Khomeini was exiled into Saddam’s Iraq for several years during Shah’s reign, and was fully aware of how Saddam does things. When he took power after the revolution, he called for another revolution of the Iraqi people to topple Saddam’s regime and replace it with an Islamic one, and the calls were heeded by many Iraqis. This, and the shaky state of Iranian military compared to Shah’s time, as well as the green light from the West, led Saddam to initiate the attack.

+MILINATION .MILIANO you are absolutely right. The conflict was remarkably similar to the Western Front of the First World War. It was an anachronism of a modern conflict fought with modern weapons using ancient tactics. It was a war fought with trenches and chemical weapons, barbed wire and artillery, airplanes and naval blockades. It was long, drawn out, bloody war which greatly traumatized the populations of both sides and sowed the seeds for future conflicts. It was also a war born from very old historical rivalries. Iran and the Ottoman Empire had fought numerous wars over Mesopotamia, which had historically been a Persian heartland and the location of many of Iran's great ancient capitals like Ctesiphon.

It's interesting to note that a few years before the start of the Iran Iraq war, Saddam sent a division into Iran, over the Shat Al Arab waterway. The Iranian air force, by itself, wiped out Saddam's tank division in one stroke and this convinced Saddam to avoid escalating the conflict. After the revolution, the Iranian military experienced the second largest military purge of the 20th century (after Stalin's purges prior to WW2 in the eastern front which allowed Hitler to swarm into Russia initially almost unopposed) Half of Iran's soldiers had defected during the revolution, 5000 PLUS of the top officers had been purged, imprisoned or assassinated and all the top generals had been purged as well. Basically Iran's military was a shadow of it's pre revolutionary self. Saddam on the other hand had the latest tanks from the Soviet Union and the latest jets from France, along with intel from the US and unlimited funding from the Persian Gulf Arab States. Despite all this, after the first 2 years of fighting, Saddam's forces had been repelled from all Iranian territories and Saddam and Saudi Arabia offered Iran hundreds of billions to cease fighting, but Khomeini was convinced that his military could conquer all of Iraq within another year or two. If it had not been for the massive loans given to Saddam by the Persian Gulf Arab states, like the first loan of 250 BILLION (remember this is back then, it would be worth trillions today) Saddam's regime would have gone bankrupt and lost the war because of lack of supplies. In the end, even with the loans, the Iranians were on the verge of victory, so along with the satellite imagery, which helped guide the Iraqi artillery against Iranian positions, the US and Germany sold Saddam chemical weapons, which he used not only on Iranian soldiers and civilians but also on his own northern Kurdish population, wiping out entire villages. In the end, the war left millions dead and wounded and had the opposite effect of strengthening Khomeini's Iranian regime, as opposed to weakening it, which is what the west and Saddam were initially expecting.
@donkthedankee8595
@donkthedankee8595 2 года назад
The intelligence by itself was crucial, as the united states began to step up its satellite imagery after Iran captured al faw, as they were fearing that Iraq will next lose basra. The satellite imagery was a crucial factor that led to operation karbala 4 not being able to capture abu al hasib and umm al rasas and the martyrdom of many combat divers who were buried alive after being captured. Iran learnt from this and then began to train its UAV crews and used them for reconnaissance, which helped photograph images of iraqi fortifications for the successful operation karbala 5

Nice video and explanation. 1983 the war could have been over. Hundred thousands of lives could have been saved. But nobody in Iran questions the Regime why the war was continued, which caused the further death of thousands of Iranian Soldiers and citizens. Not to mention the shooting of an Iranian Airliner by an American Warship that took the life of hundreds of Iranians as well. Also why did the Regime took American diplomats as hostages for more than 400 days and isolated the country even further? Iranians should really bring up those questions. That would get the Mullahs in a lot of trouble.

We went further with the war because Iraq troops were heavily stationed at our borders,and we couldn't trust Saddam because he did had already broken a cease fire,so we invaded them,pushed them back,but then there was the idea of taking over Iraq,which was a bit suicidal at the time,so we got heavy casualties and the the US involvement happened and forced us to accept the 598 resolution,but then Saddam helped the MEK(Mujahedeen Khalgh) to invade Kermanshah.

No, false. Iraq withdrew after Iranian counterattacks after the failed Tawakalna Iraqi offensives which were intended as a surprise attack however the offensive bogged down into a stalemate, once Imam Khomeini issued speech urging all revolutionary fighters to go to the south. He was almost about to issue a fatwa for holy war. Seeing as Iraq couldn’t hold onto south, they withdrew and we even had the potential to re invade Iraq however Imam Khomeini forbade it. Iraq then became desperate and funded MEK to invade but once again they were crushed during Operation Mersad. Typical butthurt baathist upset he lost the war lying to deceive others from his failure

Kuwait was neutral from 1980-1982. In 1982, the Iranians tried to assassinate Kuwait's leadership, so, the Kuwaitis started helping the Iraqis along with over Gulf countries. Those other countries, like Saudia Arabia, waived Iraq's debt to them. However, Kuwait was slant-drilling into Iraqi oil fields & selling more than their OPEC quota, lowering oil prices and damaging Iraq's economy. So, Saddam got pissed that they were ungrateful and invaded.

Neo and Sepehr Voshmgir. It just sounds like you two are repeating the fabricated propaganda told to you by the Mullahs to keep the brainwashed Iranian population in the dark. Let me tell you something you don't know and not told in Iranian TV. Saddam sent a congratulating letter to Khomayni in early 1979. Khomayni replied that he will change the government in Iraq either by an exported revolution or by force of arms -- that is a clear threat and declaration of war. There were border clashes even as early as 1978 initiated by Iranian army as well as occupation of key border areas which they refused to give back as was promised in the 1975 Algiers Treaty. The war didn't start on 22nd September 1980, only in the Iranian narrative. Iraqi villages at the border were being shelled by Iranian artillery and aircraft long before 22nd September 1980 -- which in turn was decisive response to Iranian violations of Iraqi territorial sovereignty and existential threats. And the reality is that by July 1988 Iraq had captured 7 Iranian towns meeting little resistance and cut off the Al Mohammara - Al Ahwaz road ready to move into both cities except now with 5 times as many troops as 1980. The devil Khomayni quickly accepted the same ceasefire proposal from 1982 after 6 years of senseless war that ended 1988-8-20 with Iraqi victory. And Iraqi troops freely withdraw from all captured areas.

Give them a time to absorb previews step (no way to ease up point #1, it's their territory) 4. Finish what's left. 5. New settlements of Middle East, happy future, take the rest of the oil.

Iraq was not an Arab state, but after the Arabic-Islamic invasion in the seventh century, Iraq turned from an Assyrian Christian state to an Arab Islamic state.

komigennufan you’re in denial buddy. The real loser is the one who can’t accept reality
@mohsen2327

komigennufan reality is that the world superpowers funded Iraq’s military while Iran was fresh out of a revolution with no management. Whether this is about Islam is subjective, but it definitely was iran vs the world

komigennufan komigennufan bruh what have you been reading. Russia funded Iraq, not Iran because Khomeini was against communists. China did not give support, Iran just bought weapons from them. Regarding Israel that’s ridiculous, they are mortal enemies. I’m sorry but Syria Libya and North Korea don’t compare to the support Iraq was given. I didn’t learn this from Khomeini, this is literal facts

komigennufan if you do one quick google search, you’d know that Russia supported Iraq WAY more than it did to iran. It’s also speculated that Israel sold $100M worth of weapons to Iran. Now compare that to $46 BILLION worth of funding iraq received just from SA, Kuwait, and the UAE alone. Iraq still failed its invasion 💀 this is why iran won

this was great. you just missed one of the main reasons for ending the war and that was the airbus shot down by US which pressured Khomaini to accept the peace agreement.

Death to American government. Iranians never ever forget that issue. They killed more than 200 Iranian people at that flight and that Airbus was'nt warplane, just for passengers. Death to American government and its dirty policies
