Now i know why the heavy is *heavy*, After he suffered a awful injury he was bed bound and he turned to food as a stress relief for the nightmares he saw in his time fighting alongside the Iranians in the Iran Iraq war
Much respect to the director of photography (or director) who paid a lot of attention to the set design. Not many film makers would think about small details like littering a firing position with tons of spent brass...and the fact that they represent detonations as black and grey clouds and not big orange explosions adds to the realism. Getting the gear correct (Soviet armor and small arms) is a huge bonus. There's nothing worse than seeing a Patton dressed up like a Panther in big budget movies.
My father fought for 8 years in this war. He swore to my mother "I Will go to war, I will win every battle I'm sent to and when I return, I will take your hand for marriage"
@@lk6912 it actually would not have ended in a stalemate if united states did not supply satellite images of Iranian armies to Iraq. Then you know, mustard gas and all. Father was hit too.
@@DeNihility he had 5 more brothers, I known one was a commando fighting behind enemy lines these guys were awesome. My cousin showed me a video of a general(I think he was a general) talking about them on TV.
That was the most realistic depiction I've ever seen. Enough so that I was a good minute into the clip before realizing that it wasn't actual combat photography. Other than the RPGs seeming a little too colourful, I feel that they nailed this one. That kid who squatted completely out of cover to dump a magazine in the general direction of the enemy? Yep, seen that happen. And that kid also survived doing something I'd thought stupidly suicidal.
This was the only conflict where modern technology went back to ww1 tactics Update: This is one of several conflicts where modern technology went back go ww1 tactics.
The Armenian Azerbaijani war in the 90s was like this as well attacking fortified mountain outposts. And one could argue some of the trench fighting in eastern Ukrainian has a WW1 feel to it.
I've heard the same thing said about the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Seems like when the technology outstrips the training level of the troops involved (or possibly more accurately the skill of the generals ordering them around), you get this kind of situation.
It's believed if there was ever a third world war, most of the advanced tech such as ships fighters and bombers would be destroyed in the first five months and since the global economy is so interconnected the disrupted resource flow of the war would prevent making new ones so if the war lasted longer than five months it would revert to WW2/WW1 style infantry small arms fire battles
There are many varients of RPGs. So it's not uncommon to see different explosions or smoke trails. There's even an RPG that doesn't even blow up, it's just a metal fist used to penetrate armor. Also, Hollywood is....well it's Hollywood. Lol
JAVID IRAN 🇮🇷 90% of Iranian Soldiers were volunteer From 9 years old boy to 80 years oldman Dr. Chamran, he was a NASA scientist and had the best life in America, but he left everything and back to Iran and fought to the last drop of blood and many cities were liberated under his command, Those Known and Unknown Soldiers are our Heroes

@@xman822 No need to treat them this badly, yes your countrymen did this for the sake of defending their country and families, but I believe he has a point the war has no point at all, both sides had sadly sacrificed their lives just to achieve nothing only misery and sorrow was what they got at the end. @@radziwill7193 Saddam Invaded Iran to gain control of Khuzestan. But when failed to do so and offered peace to khomeini. He refused, Why??? You see Islamic revolution happened in 1979 and the war started in 1980. Now people started to realize that this regime is not what they thought. So there some protests here and there, But War was a blessing for the regime, and Khomeini knew it. So he tried to stretch it as long as possible to keep the people's minds off the protests and keep them busy with the war. 500K Iranians died in this war which could have been lessened if Khomeini had accepted the peace offer. So in a way, both Saddam and Khomeini are to blame for this war and deaths. Just like always, soldiers are pawns in the chess game of their leaders.
Well over 1 million soldiers died and over 100 thousand civilians died in that war alone. The war they those is very accurate to the movie, frontal warfare even child soldiers used in this war and even suicide attacks used in Iranian side.
Imagine having AKs, RPGs, Iglas, Hinds, MiGs, T-55/62/72s on one side vs American items like M-14, F-14 Tomcats, M-16, M48/M60 Pattons and yet all turned it into a freaking siege warfare with trenches and and poisonous gas all over again. What the actual fuck...
On one side you had Iraq with 20 000 Soviet advisors, Mercenaries including pilots from over 14 countries, Tens of Billions in armes sales from all around the world as far away as Brazil and a free hand to use Chemical weapons without any international condemnation Vs Iran that was under full Arms embargo with the minor exception of Iran Contra could only access arms from a handful of countries namely North Korea , Syria, Libya and the black market at several times the normal price.
Iraq had weapons sold to them by russia, China, usa, germany, Britain, we only had what shah bought when he was ruling like the F14 you mentioned american m47/m48 or M60A1s were also used that were bought from shah. But germany sold iraq his chemical weapons which they used to kill the kurds in iraq and wage an unfair war. Which ultimately ended in iran winning.
My father was a participant in that war and he says that the Iranians came in the form of human waves to trample on the landmines, and then the tanks would come after them.
Iranians were defending their country from Saddam Hussein who was an opportunist and thought it's a good time to take advantage of Iran's volatile situation after the revolution to capture oil reach lands. Iranians fought with what ever they had. Not that I support Iran's today's regime, but Iraqis started it and they were at fault. Clearly you don't care much about human lives, but it's the irony that today Iraq has to buy electricity from Iran and still won't have 24 hours of sustained power! Maybe Karma 😉
@@dennisivan85 As I said I am not supporting Iran's regime and you just wish to sting because you hate Iran. It is my wish that Iraq will someday becomes a country that can sustain itself. What I was saying was to answer this guy who obviously was very proud of their country invading and killing millions. I am surprised by the art of photography and the wonderful direction. This movie is of better quality than many American films. All due respect to the director and the cast.
An interesting story about this war ⬇️ My father used to say that we had just had a revolution and the huge wave of war had entered the borders from the west of Iran, and we lacked weapons. And all Iranian people were needed for this unequal war. At the beginning of the war, when my father was newly married, he entered the war and said that we were divided into three groups in the war, and the first soldier was given a G3 rifle. A gun that overheats or jams after a few more shots. And the second soldier was given a grenade and the third soldier had to chase them and by killing the Iraqi soldiers they got good weapons like this Kalashnikov (this memory was from the beginning of the war. The war). I, the son of that father, as an Iranian, say without exaggeration that Iranians are really brave
God bless your father I'm Iranian also from Iran. Our enemy today is our own government and we must take it down, but I see you as an extremist and traitor to your own people by using the evil symbol of our current government. If you dare and truthful. Don't you see what our government is doing to people and how people are killed and starved? How dare you use this symbol of hate and barbarism on your profile ???
It must have been hell, please correct me if I am wrong here, Iran was not only fighting Iraq but the US too, the US wanted this war and provided $billions in state of the art military weapons and even had advisers helping operate the weaponry, What those Iranian soldiers must have faced was horror and as you said they must have been the bravest of men.

That was a damn sight better than Hollywood would do! The Iran-Iraq War started when I was in High School and there were many talks about who would be the preferred winner. Saddam Hussein's Iraq was the favoured. But I always told Class Mates and Teachers that Iran would just outlast them. Stalemate and an uneasy Peace would follow.
Politics and everything else aside, it was a very unfair battle, one side was completely isolated and had access to no new weapons while Iraq received simultaneous help from the soviets and the West at large. And they were supplied with and given the green light to use chemical weapons with international silence. Only part that annoyed me a bit was the guy with the RPG who just stood there while the pillbox LMG was spraying dirt up infront of him. He was way to calm and unresponsive to the bullets hitting right infront of him and it was pretty clear they were aiming at him, since he was aiming straight back at them.

Yes but the frontline was 1600km long as the shared border between Iran and Iraq is longer than any found between two countries in Europe, thus most WW1 frontlines in Europe were tiny in comparison.

Haven't seen this movie or even knew it existed. But if this clip is anything to go by the production values at least must be pretty damn good. Details like the track sprawled behind the disabled tank are excellent. There may be echoes of Saving Private Ryan here but so what? Practically every war movie since has been influenced by it one way or another.
The visual effects of the film is very impressive. Neighbors can't fight with eachother. They should establish friendship and common work with eachother.
Looks like very similar to real battle footages of the war. I like it, very realistic. Maybe bullet sounds would be a little bit better. But in general, I like the scene. Congrats.

All the details in this from set, direction, how the soldiers fight (their tactics, training and lack thereof which you'd expect of conscripts & volunteers), use of artillery and tanks and the power of close in anti tank makes me think this film had some consultants who were actual veterans of this war and listened to them well.
