As security measures are buffed inside Baghdad’s Green Zone, Iraqi counter-terrorism forces have been posted in front of the U.S. embassy, Thursday, January 2, a day after pro-Iran demonstrators dispersed from the area.

READ MORE: U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday postponed a trip to Ukraine, the country at the heart of impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, after an attack on the American embassy in Iraq, the State Department announced.
Pompeo had been due to travel at week's end to Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Cyprus.
But on Tuesday, a mob of pro-Iran demonstrators stormed the U.S. embassy in Baghdad over American airstrikes that killed two dozen paramilitary fighters.
No U.S. personnel were injured in the attack and U.S. officials said they had no plans to evacuate.

We're all judging Iraq for showing up late. Which was done to avoid escalating the situation, and to save people's lives by letting the rioters finish and go home. Yes that is pretty cool, but that's what they are suppose to do. That's would they should have been doing since day one. You don't see us destroying, throwing bomb or grenade, or shooting into any countries embassy in the US, regardless of what actions or policies that government has. We may have a demonstration or protest, but we've never tried to burn anyone embassy down.

@colonel 100 They destroyed their own country; I was there when their first election took place and remember clearly how happy the citizen to have black ink on their fingers (indication that they voted). The country was their from then on. Multiple deployments latter, much has changed and people are much better off. Especially the northern Kurdish section of the country. You should pay a visit to have a better assessment.
