This is not even close to conventional warfare. We wear uniforms and the combatants look like everyone else. Only the locals know who's who. It's just crazy.

It's damn hard for the ANA. Imagine: Many times our (allied) troops would call in air-support, the Afghani troops have to fight it out on the ground. With worse equipment and less training (I know, it was difficult to train them i some cases, but still...). I wonder if they will be able to hold the ground. Its going to be hard for them.

My First unit was 3rd ACR back when they had just moved to FT. Carson in 96. I was assigned to 2/3 HQ Trp and later E Trp. Still the unit I have the fondest memories of serving in. 3rd ACR will always be home for me. But 1st ID is the one I always wanted for my combat patch. And it was during OIF and OEF. I'm just glad I was in another ACR 1/4 Cav of 1ID. Worst division I served in was 3ID on FT. Benning. They took pride in their high divorce rate due to their troops never being home. Pretty fucked up thing to be proud of honestly.

I do feel bad for all the Americans and NATO forces that lost their lives over this whole Afghan Iraq war business it makes me really upset with our US government

This video began with enough information for me to say- this ambush was not unexpected xD.

The Taliban that these USA soldiers were fighting; were once our allies. This was when the cold war was going on with Russia. UsA wanted to stop so bad the spread of communism; that we practically gave the Taliban weapons and supported them. After all, communism is the evil of the world, right? So then, Russia finally drops out of the communism game; then later USA goes to war with Taliban. Taliban is firing at USA soldiers with weapons provided by USA. How Ironic is that? The shift of focus of USA was no longer stopping communism, but terrorism instead. If I remember right, the Russians invaded Afghanistan at one point in time; and the USA wanted to stop the Russians. Ok, my point you see is: It does not make any sense to have a group of people as your friends one minute, then fighting them the next. Ridiculous Logic. God Bless the USA.

Out military infantry are in such dangerous positions and are the best in the world! We are GRATEFUL for all of you. Make sure to come home safe, and always remember that all who love you and your families await your safe return.
