I want the Irish fans to enjoy our country and the people, you will 100% enjoy it. Don’t let social media give you the wrong idea. We would love to host you guys. May the best team win 🇿🇦
@@FR-je9bw Just trolls bro, they dont know anything about Rugby. We love rugby and we always respect our opponents. It’s gonna be 2 epic tests, looking forward to it.
Ignore the ignorant people who are not true rugby fans - the Bulls fans loved hosting Leinster twice, wish we’d won the second game rather than the first but great respect and wonderful for Springboks now to be facing Ireland , a new great rival, long may it continue
@@FR-je9bw And you are also probably ashamed of some of your fellow compatriots on our shows comment sections? I mean it goes both ways at the end of the day. Right? It can't be coming from just one side?
The hype is huge in SA at the moment, the Irish can take that as a compliment, if the Boks qnd public did not respect this Irish team, there is noways we would be as vocal.. going to be epic... go Boks..🔥🔥🔥
@@lizzyhanahoe4197believe me it is respet, we may be double champs but Ireland is the only side this Bok team have not beaten and believe me, it hurts lol. May the best team win.❤
Ireland will play well, as a Saffer, I have immense respect for them and having played the game, never 'expect' to win. As for the 'banter', it's good for the game. Ireland will pitch!
Neil nailed it in the opening comment - all the banter is really a whole lot of fun, a great change from our historical Saffa dour nonsense - a whole lot of fun!
Great podcast thanks Gents - good talking points in there. Welcome to S.A. Enjoy the visit and be super vigilant when you're out and about. Try to get to CT for a few days after you're done with JHB and Durban - lots to see and do in the Mother City and, given the exchange rate, pretty much anything you're into is affordable. I'm calling Saturday exactly the same as Bernard. Our lads by 10. Ireland will not be a pushover obviously but I have a feeling this Bok squad will do the necessary in Test 1. Best of luck to both teams 👊
My bags are packed and flying down to SA tonight. I have to say I also feel we have looked like we have been tired and "running on empty" for a while and with JGP, Keenan and Hanson out among others the fear is we will get a right thumping. However optimism reigns and hopefully we step up...we will have to. Regardless, the craic between the fans before and after the games should be epic so very excited to experiance SA and their amazing rugby culture.
I don't believe that Ireland is spent for a second - they have been consistently good for the last 8 years at least. No reasopn to believe otherwise. Enjoy SA - we are proud of our hospitality and welcome a great nation of party animals to our shores.
Excited for a good game 😎🔥 Cheers from 🇿🇦 Great discussion, and don't mind it if there are a couple of insecure SA comments here 😂 We're more alike than different 🇿🇦🇮🇪
@@WinterWeaverFor a country of 60 million people, a couple, several even, hell make it 100 negative comments is not a bad number. People need to stop generalizing.
From a South African guy, I just want to say we don’t hate the Irish and we have genuine respect for them. Why can’t we have a good rivalry like the All Blacks. I have nothing bad to say about the Irish. Yet again the media pushing a narrative
Ireland is the cream of the crop for the Northern Hemisphere rugby. They are the one team that slips from the Springboks so we are ready and the hype is real.. While you’re staying cool, we're turning up the heat. Can't wait for an epic showdown.🏉🔥
Thanks guys, this was a good one. I watched another Irish podcast and they were just talking about how the boks aren't all that and how we didn't really win the world cup, got lucky etc. I love balanced chats like this, Ireland have become an amazing team and if we're able to win a match against these guys I'd consider it a success. My gut tells me it'll be one each but obviously hoping for a 2-0 as a bok fan. You guys say we lifted you in the URC but you've majorly lifted us as well, enjoy the new rivalry and playing against Welsh teams and all the rest as well.
As a Bok fan I don't think it will be an ambush at all. The Irish have been consistently good across the board since at least 2016 and there is no reason to believe otherwise. We Saffas have immense respect for Irish rugby and what it has built into - which is why we are loving this series and the hype is up there - to be the best you must beat the best! And having a quiet Ireland team makes me nervous - you know what they say about talking softly and carrying a big stick. But at the end of the day it is a sport, and sports are about enjoying yourself and giving your best on the field and comraderie off the field.
100% this. These guys being a bit nervous and kinda underselling the Irish team just makes me more nervous. If the Irish win at loftus then they can consider the whole series won even if they lose 50-0 in Durban. The pressure is all on us and Rassie knows it, hence the team he’s picked.
Great show guys. Well balanced. Watch the Handre Pollard press conference from today. I will be very very afraid seeing that as an Irish supporter. Pollard is highly confident, calculated and humble. Our general is back!!!! Boks by 18 this weekend.
South African fan here, living in Dublin. Lads this was great to watch! We South Africans eat up any and all Rugby coverage so I'm not surprised you've got loads of us as viewers! The buzz that's been building around this tour is fantastic and I love it. The Bok-Ireland rivalry is great and these games are going to be immense. Hope you guys over in SA are having a great time and here's to a cracking game on Saturday! May the best team win!
You mean the buzz in south Africa. Can you tell your country men nobody in Ireland gives a fuck as you would realise the game hasn't been advertised anywhere 😊
You guys are not serious? Maybe the translation between English and South African English have two different meanings. I thought Rassie was very tactful in the interview, and highlighted the respect that the bok squad had for the Irish players. Anyway that's was my view. Good luck for saterday, and there is a Afrikaans folk song to listen before the game. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zNKxnYcgQRw.html
Quiet is dangerous... Irish will surprise, Boks may be flatfooted and stunned in opening minutes... whiff of overconfidence. RSA Coaches a bit too relaxed. Anyway as a SAFFA, may the Irish team support enjoy the country and their time out there, many blessings lets have an entertaining game.
Great commentary boys! As a Bok fan this is probably the most eagerly anticipated clash for quite some time! 2 highly skilled, capable teams at the top of their game. Bring it on! 👊🏿❤️
Doesn't matter what is said. At the end, I know these teams have massive respect for each other. And all the hype and talk is just very exciting and good for the game. I'm glad you guys are loving it as much as we are. It's going to be an epic series!
Loving this test, wish we had GB, Hugo and Hansen to have the best clash, but both sides are not messing around, "developing for the WC" , best available sides coming out, great, love rugby. HeY SA - take good care of the Irish traveling, we know you will, wish I was there!
I've been to most previous irish games going back to 1995 in SA and the stadiums would only be half full...these days it's the hottest ticket in the country. Brilliant to see!!
What a game this is going to be. I have followed your podcasts since the WC and find it informative and fascinating. Thank you. We have just had a look at our youth (future) at a brilliant Craven Week where the speed, strength, physicality and skill level were astonishing but every second bloke heavily interested was a French scout.... I hope for no red cards and some magic this Saturday!
Honestly the people who created the animosity is those "Off the Ball" pod boys...they are really pompous and 90% of them have never even kicked a rugby ball let alone played.. otherwise we as Bok fans we are nervous and don't know what to expect especially from a defensive POV...the Books are notoriously very slow starters due to the player base being scattered all over the globe and Ireland have the URC as an added advantage..they know what's coming
@@SteveWarleehe/she is definitely more knowledgeable than you Mr userqe1tv😂😂...let's respect people's opinions especially when it's an informative one unlike yours
Yes, you are 100% correct. I'm Irish and can confirm that those guys on Off The Ball are complete clowns. They're embarrassing and don't reflect actual Irish fans. They're just media puppets pushing click bait content. We have utmost respect for South Africa. Bring on Saturday. Hopefully a cracker with no injuries.
On the altitude factor, only 4 of the 23 boks playing Saturday play at altitude, hence i find altitude always q bit overplayed with international teams playing the boks..
Sorry to disappoint lads, but the Bulls scrum would get folded by the Boks. Ox and Frans are better than Steenekamp and Louw. The Irish pack will be in for a tough day if the ref keeps an eye on Porters hinging.
Ye had been dismissive of the Bulls in selection for a long time. Same with Munster players for Ireland. One of these days it's going to bite ye in the arse.
From a Saffa. We love you guys, we love the hype, we all love Rugby and that's what matters. Without great competitors like you guys, France and All Blacks Rugby would not be what it is today... Let's have a great game!
Why are they saying the Irish players are physically and mentally spent? The Boks play a northern hemisphere club game and a Southern hemisphere international season, bringing players in from all over. Way more rugby. The Irish, who are mostly from Leinster, have a squad rotation between URC and champions cup. They are not more fatigued than the Boks.
@@FR-je9bw Rugby championship? End of year tour which is 4 to 5 weeks for SA (Irish will be touring SA for 2 - 3 weeks), Then straight into northern hemisphere club season. SA URC teams tour north for almost 4 weeks in a row, Irish, only two weeks at most. Leinster sent 2nd team to tour SA, so no, they are not more fatigued then the Boks. The Leinster players are probably the most cotton wooled players in world club rugby with their rotation, so its not an excuse.
@johnarmstrong6940 There was no NH tour last Autumn plus the Rugby Chamionship was foreshortened in 2023 with heavy rotation. No such rotation in 6 Nations which is a full on draining tournament.
They're not comparing , they're are just commenting that Leinster and Munster looked heavy footed and tired in the Semi's as did Bulls in the final . It's a long Season for everyone
Note to Neal Treacy and Irish rugby fans - Bok captain Siya Kolisi (number 6) is our openside flanker, i.e. not blindside. Pieter-Stef du Toit (number 7) is the Bok blindside. You might be wondering why 7 is blindside in South Africa .... I'm not sure, but it always has been since I can remember (1970s and before), and 6 is openside - yes, that means Francois Pienaar in 1995 was openside too...
SA fans and IRE fans should handle the game and spice like two friends seeing their wives take part in a swimsuit contest. It doesn't REALLY matter who wins. they both win.
Lots to do and see in South Africa. Travel with known & trusted people. Don't walk around in the streets after dark. But enjoy our beautiful country, people and food.
Tx Ireland, for allowing our Boks to start rebuilding for the 2029 RWC with your team. We respect you guys big time, and who knows, if we make it, it would be amazing to meet Ireland in the 2029 final if we can both make it and how special it will be if we can look back then and say it all started this Saturday in Pretoria.
Yours is the very first time I have seen anyone reference Etzebeth being pronounced with an 'r'. Although your spelling is different, so it could be some other person.
I would start Casey, James Ryan, Bealham, Izuchukwu, Bundie and Hendshaw with McCloskey on a 5/3) bench. MaCarty and POM on the bench. I would also be tempted to start Kelleher. Not sure Farrell will make any of those selections. I would freshen it up in the second test.
Welcome to Sandton, Johannesburg. It looks more European so you should enjoy the sights and sounds as well as the diverse SA people. I really appreciate the Irish passion for the game and hope to see a very competitive contest between two of the world's current great high-ranking teams, dankie Ireland en geniet Suid Afrika.
It will be interesting to see if both teams have evolved their patterns of play. Ireland have more coaching consistency but the impact of changes in the Bok setup are no really clear yet.
Think Irish press are a little too negative - Rassie picked two fetchers in starting 15 to try and slow down the Irish play as we now how much they can hurt us if we allow them to play at speed
If you go back to the 2004 and 2016 tours they were fiercely contested and of course home ground advantage is huge as has been since in the results these last 20 years. However as the test teams have become more professional so advantages have become smaller. Hopefully the Boks can pull it through but it will be tight. Trust there will still be respect between the two camps and their supporters and we can all enjoy something special
Don't agree with Jackman on not having the depth for a 6-2. Ryan, Baird and Timoney are all excellent players. Hodnett and Coombes couldn't even make the squad. Of course, we have the depth for a 6-2. Farrell has just decided he would rather have Ringrose to bring on on this occasion
Good luck Ireland. Don't believe the press. South Africans love Irish rugby and their passion for the game . We love playing you and love you more if we beat you.😂😂😂
We Irish ❤ the boks and supporters! Fantastic bunch , great banter and immense respect for from side's and fans alike! It's going to be an epic series regardless of who takes it!☘️ 💪🥳😁
Any word on what exactly the Irish players said about 'seeing you in the final?' Hard to believe they said that but who knows. Must have been something said.
It’s a turn of phrase used as a compliment in Ireland. South Africans took it to mean something else and then ran with it. Pretty bad sportsmanship but there you go.
Love the build up. Love the spice and drama. Should be a cracking series. Reminds me of the build up to the Lions 2009 tour. Glad Ireland are heading there rather than coping out for Japan or Oz or Argentina
@@RU-vidStandardLicense I think we would have been better to do a number of development tours this year and develop depth. Our main guys look very tired and I think two bad beatings could have a bad effect on the team going forward.
SA had a 20% success rate off the tee in that RWC Pool game. That, coupled with the fact the test was all but a IRE home game that day - It wont be a 5 point game when SA get to play at home.
tbh most problems in SA are economics-based, in my opinion. The worst racists I've experienced are the whites who left the country years ago (I know cos I'm one of them) - but it's heartbreaking to see those expats still talking like it's the 1980s
Hope you know Ireland going to get absolutely steam rolled on Saturday … the boks are going to ripe you guys a new one .. good luck … you gonna need it . The World Cup squad pales in comparison to who you facing on the weekend. 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Bulls have better props then the Boks??Really.😂🤣 Ox, Vinny, Frans, Trevor and Thomas. Wilco, Steenkamp, Matanzima who else??? Come on guys better then the boks. Irish media. Hayi khona
Ben reading that Osborne may be at 15. I'm not sure I like that for this game. He does not have much experience there but they must be seeing something in training.
I fear for us that so many saffa’s have this level of arrogance. Irish are no joke and we’re setting ourselves up for an upset if we start counting our chickens already.
JGP and Keenan are the two players who are really irreplaceable for Ireland. This is a huge test for Craig Casey and Jimmy O’Brien. If they can rise to the occasion it will be brilliant for their careers and the future of Irish rugby.
Yup, they are. But SA is also missing Wiese, Lood, Wilemse, Kleyn, Kitshoff, Moodie 🤷♂️ Hope we both turn up. Would love a game as entertaining as in the WC 🙏
Watching tomorrow with optimism! Ireland are not Leinster! Farrell is not Cullen ! Not another team in the urc. Would put up with him ! ? ? ? Cullen ! Furlong was the best tight head in the world! Now he could not lock out Dundalk seconds
I’m worried we (SA) may lose this one. This Irish team is no joke, and we haven’t beaten them in a long, long time. We cannot afford to take this lightly.
Also, the world cup pool game. We lost because Manie had a shocker off the tee. Not that it matters. We lost. But yeah. We coming for you these next 2 weeks
I am very wishy washy about this one. I really don't care if either Ireland or the boks win. If the bok win its wow we all expected it or if Ireland win its gonna be news around the world and anybody can spin & disect it as they wish. The point is there is nothing in this but just the expectation of a good game dat all. Ireland cannot take anything back to win a World Cup & South Africa need to move on from the past🎉🎉❤
Incredibly negative. Emotional. Surprising. Leinster clearly struggle to get up for urc post e.c. this team were an inch away from beating n.z and s a in w cup, then won 6 nations. S.a. should be favourites but god we are emotional. Nearly same team was best ever assembled few months ago🙄
South Africans, nothing to see here anymore. These same pundits hyped up Ireland for a couple years prior to the WC. No WC, no Champions Cup, no URC, no Johnny for the Irish. Lets leave and go back to tussling with the ABs. These pundits....not the fans I dare say are meek now.
No they didn't HYPE this irish team pre world cup. We had an impressive win rate and were ranked World no 1 for 17 straight months and every right to enjoy what was for us unprecedented success..why not? For a rugby nation that is small and was a rugby basket case for decades why wouldn't we enjoy it back then. And after the WC the Boks were back in the position as no 1 and aknowledged as such. All that rubbish about being "best in the world" was never ever said by any irish media FYI but as on that video ALL non irish I hope when I fly down to SA tonight the fans are more pleasant then the online commentators.
@kerrylass2 Nonsense, Rob Kearney & Jamie Heaslip were planning the Champions open bus parade b4 WC started. As usual bye bye at QF. They never learn. Boks by 12-15 points
Looking forward to this, always nice to have a few internationals in July. Hopefully nice and competitive. If it's a thumping. I'll have to get over it by tanning my ass for a couple of weeks in Portugal. Life is tough.
I saw a few comments of the Irish fans saying "Rugby is Irelands 3rd sport, we dont even care about this series" like who plays gaelic football and hurling? what no name irrelevant sport is that? SA has indigenous sports too but do we claim that as our main sports? No! because we play WORLDLY sports. We dont live on an island like you guys do and are not ignorant about other countries cultures.
I don’t echo the not caring sentiment. But what rugby is to South Africa. GAA is to Ireland. If there’s more than 5 houses beside eachother in Ireland. There’s a gaa pitch too. Bit ironic of you to talk about someone not having respect for different country’s cultures while you blatantly wrote that to disrespect ours
@@ItsBellers That is BS because if you guys had won last years RWC. You would be claiming rugby as the best sport and boasting about being world champions. I think it was intended as a compliment from the Irish. They obviously have to believe that they (Ireland) will be there, and saying that the other team will be there was saying that that they think they are good enough to get to the final. I don't read it as being arrogant at all.
Do these guys mispronounce afrikaans names on purpose? Seems strange they refuse to say the names correctly. If the commentary during the games get it right, it makes you wonder if these guys ever actually watch the matches. Maybe they do it on purpose.
This Irish team has never beaten SA in SA. Calm down with the "they couldn't beat us" BS. Try win one QF in your history. Making a semi will be like winning the WC for Ireland 😅😂
