@AFndjdj7373 I'm not criticizing you to start with, but not all queer people are you. Some have been so abused and destroyed by cishet people it's hard for them to connect or share relationships with straight people. Some, like me, are just so queer and unique that straight people can't digest us sometimes. And with how we are illegal in 70+ countries and we never will not deal with homophobia, transphobia, etc, we can tease or basically bully straight people together because we wouldn't have and, never will, do horrible things like they have done to us, try to kill us off like they have done to us, or anything like that. So queer people really don't get carried away with this idea, and the 0.01% that do don't matter or make a difference. And sometimes that's just how people heal.
@@G0ttmilk I get this, but why include all the straights into the homophobic category ? By being ""heterophobic"" to the extreme you may be basically doing (an ever so slightly little part of) what they did to you (ofc this is not the same but some straight ppl will take offense to it still). I don't get wanting "revenge" it's just not it, let's be better than those homophobic swines who hurt us in the past and let's not create a hostile atmosphere for people who genuinely want to be open minded to queer people. Also this is not a healthy way of healing because you're just pushing the hate to the other side. Have we learned nothing from wars
@@amaterasu3099 i think its not soo much about being hostile or hateful towards straight ppl . But more about choosing not to let them into my life. Or being extremly careful around them . Also choosing not to go into super-straight-oriented places , like a barber shop etc. Which by definition is phobic , which does not mean to be hateful , but be scared. And a lot of us Queer people are scared
@@amaterasu3099 Well sometimes it's not for you to get. Like I said we would never go to extremes like straight people. Teasing or words are not the same as having millions of youth, adults, and elders traumatized from wars and repeated attempts to kill us. And assuming every straight person or straight space is homophobic is safer than not. Once those spaces or people very easily show that they are not we opening accept them never insult them. And I'm not going to dictate how you are going to heal and sometimes the unhealthy parts of healing are just apart of it.
@@amaterasu3099girl. i need people like you to get real. obviously not all straight people are homophobic but let’s be real it’s a damn safe assumption. especially straight cis men.
In what should be a surprise to no one, Irene is such a well spoken, intelligent and entertaining Queen. We def were robbed. Thank you, again, Maddy for providing a platform so we get to know these queens properly. Honestly one of the best post-rpdr content out there
I think she robbed herself with the ice water bit. If you can't do the act in its entirety, you have to pivot for a different idea. We know they'll cut in with talking heads. Hope she'll return for an All Stars because I'd wager Irene is a fierce competitor!
@@kelseyjenna9248 It was more that the decision to send her home had already happened, so she wasnt upset about the bit failing she was upset about editors not trusting the audience enough to figure out why she went home (because tbh she probably didnt deserve to) and instead having talking heads and other editing choices that diminish her. Like they couldn't just stand by their own choice to send her home, they had to make all of us think that she was worse than she actually was. Thats not good for a queens mental health or career.
Maddy’s poker face kills me 😂💀I was damn-near dry heaving at Irene’s story about the lady training her at her job casually picking SKIN off her FEET and then camera cuts back to Maddy reacting like 😐
@@user-lp2nz7vq6bthat part, bc I fux w Irene buuutttt then there's V A N J I E 💅🏿 They're also so wildly different that there's nothing to compare other than being on the show.
@user-lp2nz7vq6b I mean before she left all she did was "Miss Vanjie... Miss Vanjie... Miss... Vanjie..." which, while funny, is not incredibly impactful in the long run
@@user-lp2nz7vq6b uuum thanks convince yourself that’s a clever insult but what I meant was is she did leave an impact look how much screen time she got, she had great looks, shady yet sweet she would have been a great contestant. So, coming back isn’t out of the real of possibility.
To Irene’s credit, she was one of my favorites in all the promo materials for Season 15 and after she left the season definitely felt lesser without her presence so she made a bigger impact than she thinks. I hope she gets another chance on the show if that’s something she wants.
8:50 is so poignant. Avoiding conflict because of people not knowing how to deescalate in a fun way, is such a great point. When you look at earlier seasons, particularly Season 6 and Season 9 really had moments that proved the value of this statement. Drag Queens are PERFORMERS! The ability to deescalate (and in fact, escalate) in a fun way has produced some of the most hilarious and memorable moments of the series. E.g.: "What do you do well....quickly." Does anyone else have moments that resonate with this point?
@@wifey09 Omg can you imagine? Step aside Clove and Paprika. Mistress and Irene together, would have been in their own twin terror read a b*tch era. Loosey would have had no chance. Tu vey lo! Periodit!
The parting gifting and ensuing conversation was such a brilliant ending. Maddy is so impressive and I love how respectful this show is to each of its guests
Honestly the energy that Irene puts out doesn't personally resonate with me. But this interview and particularly that part and the conversation about her attempt at establishing a drag union made me really understood and respect her, even if she's not my favorite queen. Maddy's show really has this unique quality that makes things like that possible.
I’m so thankful that Irene talked about fistula. I’ve been dealing with mine for 7 years and a lot of people don’t know what it is. Many think that I’m mispronouncing fissure. This is a representation that made me feel very warm and happy. Thank you for this 🙏🙏🙏
I don't know why but this episode just felt extra special. I can't tell if it's because they have similar personalities or the fact that I was so curious about Irene and now I know who she is and am obsessed or what but I couldn't stop smiling while watching this. If Irene were to do a RU-vid channel I would be one of the first people to subscribe.
Omg, Irene talking about her sexuality is so validating. I recently came out as queer for the same reason, it's about the person and not the parts! Irene is quickly becoming one of my comfort queens, I just love her.
As much as I love that I get to see Irene at Queer/Bar whenever I want, she really does deserve to get booked more out of state and internationally. Y'all are sleeping on a real talent! I definitely want to see her back on All Stars for a proper go at it (if that's what she wants of course,) because she'll make great TV and the fans will love her
I know she wasn’t on her season very long but Irene made me laugh so hard every time she did or said anything. I’d kill to have her on an all stars or something. I just can’t get enough
I love that Maddy is giving these “early out” queens more respect than WOW presents even thought about giving them! They certainly deserve better than what they got on Drag Race!
I could definitely see how Irene's talent was actually funny and even I laughed a bit, but like she said once they did that edit she was done. I was surprised that so many people didnt realize the comedy in it but it is dry and thats very specific. not everyone is here for Maddy but she has a certain type of comedy
I think the problem with it (aside from the edits) is the fact that I can see this being soooo funny at a longer format where all the redundancy becomes super absurd and funny. But it wasn't good for a 1 min format and they cut it down even further. But I think her own show could've justified a bottom placement based on other talents, they didn't need to do her dirty with the edit
Maddy this show is amazing. I can tell you really care about the queens and give them a platform to just speak freely is so refreshing to see. Also your banter with the queens keeps me entertained the whole way through. Thank you for the effort and time you give!
Honestly, the thing that always brings me back to Maddy is that she puts in the fucking WORK to know her guests. Watching each guest have a “Wow, you really did your research!” moment, or watching them react to her gifts the way Irene did here, is always so good. There are a lot of interview shows out there, but I don’t think there’s anyone who does it quite like Maddy and it’s really impressive.
Irene literally is so iconic. Like there HAS to be more that's coming for her. I sense something big! (In whatever way you want to interpret that) 💗💗✨️
as a lowly kentuckian bumpkin, us backwoods gays appreciate the queens that have time for us. its so impactful to have that presence in a place where its normally looked down upon. so while i cant really say its the dream or the glamour, i can say it matters, a lot. edit: this was lovely. i very much agree all the dots connect. AND as an enjoyer of the absurd, it made me appreciate irene so much more. thank you for these vids and giving queens another chance to show us who they are, learn from y'all, etc. the drag bar near me closed down recently, so now i have to drive about 2 hours away for shows. i dont really do that, so this is really how i scratch that itch for the time being, thank y'all.
She really knows which drag to match with whoever she brings on, on top of her superfluous research of the queen she interviews. I'm always blown away by how professional, yet funny and engaging she is on her talkshow.
oh my god! the substance !!! i was so shocked to get to know irene! she is so deep and how she articulates herself is so good ! And i really love this giving gift according to how you get to know the queens. Its so well done.
irene was giving the most “bro” attitude/vibe in this interview and you can tell maddy was very comfortable with that 🤭🤭🤭 good for them, i love this show so much 🥰
This show is maddy’s version “this u?” Lmaooo GORGEOUS looks today I’m totally obsessed with this slick back hair and pink on maddy and this makeup is amazing irene and I love this body, love the dynamic between y’all. Great interview as always! Love that full body laugh LMAOOOO
I really hate how production sent Irene home. She had so much iconic looks and her personality is so made for reality TV. But also she is kind, funny, charming, self-deprecating, and very polished.
Irene is such a great queen. She came up my (not super well known) city in Washington and I sure thought she blew it out of the water. We all were so stoked to see her and I hope it felt worth her time :)
This might be my favorite episode at this point. I love these 2 people SO much. And that book might be Maddy's greatest "I know something obscure yet important about you" moment yet.
Really love the last part with the parting gift, it was super sweet and was really a connecting and understanding moment and glad that Maddy does the research
It's so nice to learn more about Irene. I would have loved to see her and Mistress cutting up in the workroom more. Thanks for another awesome episode Maddy!
Omg Irene talking about being called gay before even knowing what that was is literally me as well. Getting bullied for something I didn't even know or understand about myself was part of why I stayed closeted until I was 20. I wish she had gotten to stay on the show longer. I never disliked her but I feel so much more connected to her after this and I think that's beautiful. 😌🥹
irene is honestly one of the funniest queens ive seen from the show. her humor is so witty, so what dry but comes off just right. I think she would kill a roast. for only 1 episode it shows alot because shes become one of my favorites from the show. I know she will be back for another season and if not allstars forsure, she has too. shes made for tv and she has the potential to honestly win.
We all loved the Irene's' talent number, we laughed our ass off and thought she was amazing. Maddy. You are incredible and now on of my favorites from your season. Watching all of your interviews, because you provide the in-depth look into the lives of the queens, that i craved for years. Thank you and all the best to you!!!
I honestly see you @maddy as a great example to map out how I'm gonna focus on molding my students. I'm a child teacher and, as a queer person, I usually tend to run from straight people for anything... and I usually can point out the wrong in people, and judge them just by being heterosexual. Being queer in a school environment makes it very easy to spot queer kids and give them the extra attention to make them succeed in life. Having someone like you to look up to from an intellectual, and social perspective, knowing that you are straight, and even a straight male gives me more room to believe and put the extra effort to make my straight students able to live in a more open mind way, being acceptance overall, and also using their privilege to uplift everyone else with them in the social hierarchy squeme.
Madeline truly meant when she said 'THE SHOW THAT'S BEEN GIVING THE EARLY OUTS MORE SCREEN TIME SINCE 2022'. And are we GRATEFUL. Irene is such a delight💚
Honestly Maddy, you are a real pro journalist ! The way you manage to research your guests history and motivations and go forward with your questioning to them is so interesting. You always keep the conversation going, move it to personal and deep thoughts and matters while keeping things light and funny and drag ! Plus your gifts are always perfect. You are amazing Maddy and I hope you continue this show. ❤❤❤
Loved this one! I definitely related to Irene a lot in regards to the subject of gender identity and feeling like an alien/outcast. Also her sense of humor and personality are amazing
The thing about Maddy is; she doesn't just do her research, she also does whatever she can to just not make it feel like an interview but like a regular conversation between friends, which is the BEST way to make the other person feel comfortable. Besides that, she lets them tell their story and doesn't talk over them. One of the best interviewers out there!
I need more Irene in my life. Maybe the worst choice the show has ever made - to not elevate her / take her farther. She’s a treasure of talent wit and personality
