It's an LFTT, Live Fire Tactical Training, the lads with the hi viz are the instructors, they were there to make sure that the exercise runs smoothly and to ensure the safety of those involved since they are firing live rounds around each other. The US army and British army do the exact same thing.

it is to show they are in charge of the exercise.they are responsible for safety,they must be easy to be recognised from the preople taking part in the the exercise.all armies do the same.nothing wrong or strange about it except to those with no army experience.

@@Moc5116 What makes Ireland neutral? We rely on the RAF for the defence of our skies, the Royal Navy for the defence of our seas and our government constantly decides to choose sides in international conflicts. Ireland is almost the complete opposite of a neutral nation.

Ireland needs to invest magnitudes of what is currently spent on defence in order to be truly neutral. It would be cheaper to join NATO

Don't disrespect the Irish, they have a long history extending back to the 16th century of producing first class soldiers. 30% of Wellington's redcoats were Irish and they were first class fighters. Wellington and Montgomery were both Angli0-Irish, Regardless of the ups and downs of Anglo-Irish history, the Irish have the respect of the British military, they are a professional, all volunteer force and they are well trained. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. Paddy can fight with the best of them.

​@liverpoolscottish6430 yeah, at 15,000 total personnel, with 0 fighter aircraft, no true blue water Navy, no tanks, and very mediocre armored and artillery forces, they're a token peace keeping force at best. No one is doubting their quality, but they couldn't contend with any modern military power, and that's just the hard reality for the IDF at the moment.
