Toby traveled to over 15 countries & did over 200 shows for the troops. This was his response to 9/11. If you haven't heard it, Alan Jackson did a song after 9/11 too & his take is very different, yet both songs describe how we Americans felt after that horrific day. Toby speaks to payback, which we were all for... and Alan speaks of the love that came out of that day. Check out his song 'Where were you when the world stopped turning?'.
Originally titled, The Angry American, Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue was Toby's answer to the 9/11 attacks and was also inspired by his father's service in the Army. Toby did 11 USO tours over the years, entertaining American troops. I had the fortune to see Toby five times over the years and he never disappointed. He closed every show with American Soldier and this song. His last words on stage during every performance were, "Never apologize for being patriotic. Fuck 'em." He is already missed. RIP cowboy, and thank you so much for the songs, and the memories.
This is one of the most patriotic songs of all time to me. I still tear up to this day. For more American patriotic songs you may enjoy: God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood and Where were you when the world stopped turning by Alan Jackson. Best wishes from Tennessee 😊🇺🇸
Toby was originally not going to record this song but one of the generals told him after a show that this needed to be released so that all of the military could hear it performed. He didn't release it until May 2002 and it was another huge hit for him. People were feeling angry and needed to have someone express it for them and Toby did it so well.
@@JohnDoe-pr3jw Sounds good never thought of it that way i believe we we have it already This country is not just one person's homeland that includes me ......
@@lonniehhenson7925 - now you understand when I say “ I want my Country back” ? We use to agree to disagree, but now it’s laced with hate and violence. Cooler heads are needed.
One of Toby Keith’s most deserved and most worthy titles would be that which he achieved is “Oklahoma roughneck”, as he worked in the oil fields before he hit it big in the music industry. RIP Toby Kieth, you have truly earned it!
Toby Keith's passing was especially difficult for me and my family. One of the last pictures I have of my brother Sam before he was killed in action was of him and Toby at a USO event in Afghanistan. 🌹Rest in Peace Toby, I am sure Sam will be happy to see you again on the other side ✝️❤️
Miss you Toby. He was one of the greats and left us far sooner then we expected. Lot of my friends went to war with this song. I live close enough to the towers to have seen the dust plume. It was eerie as hell. Even more eerie was watching a pair of AH 1W Cobra attack helicopters doing perimeter checks with 16 hellfires and 2 sidewinders on - in my back yard.
This song was for our troops after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. It was motivational for our troops as they got ready for war. I believe the troops were the first to hear the song, approved by the military. Toby Keith was a Patriot and performed for the troop when at war. Toby Keith did many thing to support our troops before and after war. The honorary award as a tank commander, was a gift for all he did.
All you have to do is look at his Daddy.. you know it's a true story.. Toby looked just like his Daddy. I wonder sometimes if ppl overseas know the reference to Uncle Sam?. I think everyone knows the Statue of Liberty, and we have the Liberty Bell. Toby incorporated it all into this song.. RIP Big Dawg Daddy..
Appreciate you 2 reviewing this song. My ancestors came over from Ireland, so it's awesome to hear how much you enjoyed this. Sending well wishes from America! Take care 🇺🇸🤝🏻🇮🇪
Americans consider this the international anthem for the war on terror. It was also never meant to be released to the public. Toby Keith had wanted the song to be just some thing he performed for troops serving overseas, but he received such amazing feedback and troops told him that all of America needed to hear the song. So he released it to the public.
Thanks for reacting to this one. It definitely gives the true personality of the American people. All races, religions and regardless of political views. When 9/11 happened we were the most United people I've ever imagined.
So this song was never supposed to hit the general airways. This was something personal to him in remembrance of his dad and the 911 attacks. It was something he kept as long as he was able to just playing for the troops. It is our second anthem and Toby Keith, may he rest in peace, is a national treasure.
I served, 6 generations of men in my family served, all Army. My dad got some strange lung disease from smoke in his B-17 he piloted. He never bitched, not once.My son Tom made the 6th to serve. This song partly inspired him to enlist.
Us Americans are the most patriotic country on earth. We gave a big middle finger to Britain. We took on the Barbary pirates to create our navy. And we are the number one pick for any world war conflict.
You will Love all his music. He is a very Patriotic. But, he is very funny, too! His friend bet him he couldn’t write a Song about ANYTHING, so he wrote “Red Solo Cup”….HE WON THE BET. It is hysterical! Or, “Not As Good As I Once Was”! Or, “ How Do You Like Me Now?”! Try it, you’ll be officially Toby Hooked!!
I cry every time I hear this and the Star Spangled Banner! By the way my Grandpa Moore was a 16 year Scotch - Irishman who fought in WWI for the USA! My Uncle watched the Sullivan brothers(8) die for the USA!
Young lady…enjoyed this. The rainbow flag will never fight for this country 😢 and the ones who wave it are going to be sorry. We are American first. People forget that and it’s disgusting.
We train our military to break things and hurt people then when we let them loose our politicians handcuff them and turn it political. I almost cry every time I hear this when I think of our heroes not being allowed to do what they were trained to do. Thank god we did not execute WWII the way we fought Afghanistan.
Toby was a legend rip brother I'm new here I would like to see you guys do Geoff castelluchi deep bass cover of,I see fire, from the Hobbit and voice play accapella group Valhalla calling , yes vikings you can't go wrong lol thanks
Hello. American Soldier gets to you for sure. Glad u suggested it. When I was in Iraq, "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue" was very popular. W/all the turmoil we've had in the USA in the past 10 yrs. or so, that time in my life seems like a long time ago. Was too bad it took an attack on our country to make us all feel as "we're all in this together" (cuz we are). Anyone who wld suggest the song American Soldier is a good American though. :)
@user-kj5iu8bs1p wow, you brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for your service and courage to raise your hand and say, I will protect and defend our republic. I'm fiercely patriotic and loyal to our military. I, for one, have not forgotten nor do I take for granted the bravery and sacrifices our guys give to keep us safe and living our lives on our terms. American soldier hits deep as a reminder of all they give up in service to this country that I love with all my heart. Thank you, American soldier.
Sadly this song rings true again in America and we find ourselves under atttack again but this time it was our own politicians who allowed it and invited it in . GOD BLESS AMERICA ❤ 🇺🇲
Umm ... if you are going to continue reacting to music you should know that all music since about 1967 (and much from before) is recorded in stereo. This means that there are two different tracks, one for the left ear and one for the right. This provides a listening experience of closer to a live performance. When one only wears one earphone one is not getting the full experience of the song. One song on which it is particularly obvious is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (and the effect is also present on the cover by Pentatonix). If memory serves it is on the line "little high, little low." Listen while wearing both the left and right ear buds and you will instantly hear what I am referencing when that line comes up. If you don't hear it you are listening to a poor bootleg or a poor playback device, one of which is playing only one channel or has converted the stereo to monophone. Many other songs (virtually all in the last 35 years) take advantage of stereoscopic sound, if perhaps not to the extreme of that line in Bohemian Rhapsody, so I suggest you invest in a second set of earphones so you can both get the full experience of the songs you are reacting to.
Henry, does that mean I should have never listened to music my whole life for the past 56 years? How does one get the FULL Experience if I am 100% Deaf in one ear? Surround sound is meaningless to me, but I can easily detect what direction a sound like a fire alarm or police car.
