My word. her bow is ugly. The ugliest I have seen. Does anybody know if that is how she was originally designed, of if that aberration was added afterward? I presume to allow docking at different port configurations? I can imagine they got away with it as it went cross channel short hops, generally broadside to the prevailing swells .... But if is the first time she is moving closer to the Atlantic ... what is that monstrous bow going to be like when she is pushing from Pembroke to Rosslare in a meaningful Atlantic swell running up the Irish sea?
Yes a very short frontage to this ship, the vessel was built like it. Built by Belgium ferry operator many years ago . Original route Oostende to Dover before that route closed. Yes a bit ugly that front bit of the ship as you say , I agree.
@@standrewpicsthanks Andrew! Very informative. Fascinating that any naval architect would design anything so monstrous! Thanks again for the posts! At least know it won’t be a shock with I sail on her next month. 🙏🙏
@@finbarrohalloran6907 It was designed that way for the type of Docks they use in Dover and Calais. The Irish sea rarely sees any sort of swell that is comparable to the Atlantic, it can get rough but not exactly that rough. She is perfectly find to operate that route it might make it a bit more rough but not by much.
