Smirnoff is NOT Russian Vodka. It started out in Russia, but is now owned and manufactured by a British company "Diageo". The vodka itself is distilled in Scotland.

actually it is distilled locally - it is basically cheap purchased alcohol that Diageo buys form local distilleries all over the world and only puts it in their bottles with their labels and ships it local to keep costs down...it is basic rotgut

HolandaChiquita That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. The recipe for vodka is "ferment grain mash, distill alcohol, optionally filter". So that immediately makes like half the liquor in the world Russian Vodka.

Streptovsky Erm... So you think every recipe is the same because it has about the same ingredients and similar methods? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard! Ever recipe is different due to the amounts of several ingredients and the preparation methods used. All those can be and are very different from each other, resulting in a different taste etc. So therefore they're all different recipes!

Respectfully disagree. That Jewel of Russia (Black label & Ultra label) are really really good as vodka goes. I've had the Beluga Gold line and it wasn't to my liking (very strong/bitter up front.)

It is very good but russian Stolichnaya is better. The Stoli in this video is actually not russian but latvian. It's illegal to sell russian Stoli in the EU and also illegal to sell the latvian Stoli in Russia.

At least they had the Beluga. All the rest is cheap stuff. Top tip, drink vodka chilled. Put it in the freezer, when a cover of frost like Russian winter covers the outside of the bottle, it is optimal for consumption.

I just bought a bottle of Russian Standard about two weeks ago. Last vodka purchase before that was several months ago. Icelandic. Reyka Vodka. Good as well.

If you have it where you live, try sky vodka and a vodka called "воздух". That last one means air And damn, that vodka goes down better than water

As a Russian proverb says, vodka without a beer is a waste of money. So yeah, black bread, maybe meat or pickles, beer and you can handle the bottle of vodka by yourself

Absolutely love this Taste test as it has the guy who is classy!(pink shirt, dark grey jacket..very businesslike) and is absolutely gorgeous. And it has Dermot too(which is a bonus). Very funny.
