Even in Arizona during hatch season you can purchase fresh roasted chiles by the pound. Usually, these are roasted in the parking lots of certain grocers, right by the front entrances. What a fantastic aroma! I love to add them to my scrambled eggs. They also make wonderful molcajete salsa!

Hatch Chile season is one of the few highlights of a brutal summer(temps in the 40c typically). Smelling the chile roasting in the grocery store parking lot is a great indicator of delicious things to come

I'm from NM and hatch chili is part of our heritage...cuz of chili we actually have a State question, "Red or Green?" Which refers to what type of chili you want with your food. Chili for b-fast, lunch and dinner. Man I miss home (live in UAE now) lol

Old fashioned green chili jerky is wonderful, from New Mexico. We use green chili in everything. I love it in scrambled eggs with cheese,pizza,soup, and so many other things

SE New Mexico girl here, I'm fairly certain that I had hatch green chili in my bottle as a baby( jk for the record). Love it so much. My favorite is an apple pie with fresh roasted hatch greenchilis mixed in, hubby likes a bit of sharp cheddar melted on top. Also a huge fan of hatch green chili cheddar bread (and bagels). Who am I kidding... it's everything good in life.

We have a hatch Chile festival every year at our grocery store HEB. They go all out. It’s amazing. Central market where those snacks are from are the sister chain of HEB.

I grew up in New Mexico - Chile is in literally everything (you can even get a green Chile cheeseburger at McDonalds)

I live in New Mexico, and green and red chile is what makes us tick, so to speak. The best way to enjoy it is to eat it roasted or freshly cooked as a traditional New Mexican "sauce" that we pour over eggs, burgers, enchiladas, burritos, and a hundred other dishes. We also make a very addictive green chile stew. It's hard to describe how good it is, until you try it here, in person. (Hatch, by the way, is a small town in southern NM. Along with Chimayo and Lemitar, it's one of the most famous chile-growing towns.) My sister and I visited Ireland in 1990 and had a fantastic time there! Very different from New Mexico in so many ways, but it has a similar rugged beauty to it, and the people were incredibly friendly to us. One of the best dishes we ever had in our lives was shepherd's pie in a restaurant called "Sherry's" (I think), in Killarney. It was so good that we ate there two days in a row.

I've watched every video since the TRY channel was born, but I think this might be the first time I've commented. This has to be one of my favorite videos ever. A great mix of items for the folks to try, and one of the best combinations of my favorite Irish TRY channel people. Also, congrats on a million subscribers! the reason there's a season for Hatch green chile (please note, chile is a vegetable, chili is something else,,) is that it is a crop. There is a part of the year when it is freshly- harvested, and must be roasted. The whole state smells absolutely delicious that week.

I live in the Texas panhandle and traditionally we go to New Mexico in October and get fresh roasted green chilli's from there. We pack them in ice chest and bring them home. Let me tell you my car smells like heaven.

In the 70s we would call a guy, he would drive up to our town in NEW MEXICO, park in the driveway and roast HATCH chili right there in the back of his truck. My brother's and sisters would then have to peel the chili for the next couple if days. The smell was awesome, and we'd put it into little baggies and freeze em. Green chili year round. BOOM!

The Mexican market across from my store ran a special where if you bought 2 pounds of hatch chile they'd roast them for free outside. This is all I smelled for like a month.

New Mexico chile is the best. My favorite: stacked (not rolled) green chile enchiladas with a fried egg on top. Green chile cheeseburgers--oh, yeah! Green chile stew--the best. Also, calabacitas--kernel corn, squash, and green chiles. Oh, and molé sauce--red chile powder mixed with chocolate and peanut butter. Oh, the official State of New Mexico question is "Red or Green," referring to ordering red or green chile--or you can order "Christmas," which is both. The state even has a vehicle license plate with a chile pepper printed on it.

Even here in NY state, once a year one of the grocery stores will sell pounds of fresh hatch chilis. They'll even fire roast them for you outside the front of the store. You can smell them a mile away, it's amazing.

as a new mexicano i can say you've tried everything hatch green chile, except hatch green chile. the raw chile's roasted, peeled and chopped. nothing you get from a can will ever compare. we'd usually make it into a stew with pork, onion and tomato. also great on sandwiches. even mcdonald's sells a green chile burger during harvest season.

I use to live near Hatch. In the fall we'd go to the fields and for $5 they would give you a bucket and you could fill it up. Just be sure to wash your hands before you touch your eyes. ps, straight from the field they are very spicy.

Hatch chile Mac and Cheese is to die for. The Dark chocolate looks like it melted in shipment. Jerky is meant to be dry. Most people prefer the soft jerky. Soft Jerky wouldn't survive long while the dried jerky lasts a long time. Dried Jerky is also better when pieced are bit off and softened in the mouth.

Oh H‑E‑B. The best grocery in Texas . Ranked #1 in the nation. Best darn salsa ever. In store made guacamole is the best. If I could I’d send the Hatch cheddar bread made fresh in the bakery. And the Hatch flavored bacon. All so good. Damn, even when I’m off I’m thinking about work. 😊

The chocolate had bloomed, got hot then solidified again. It shouldn't change the flavor but does effect the texture!

I remember travelling through Hatch, New Mexico years ago, and eating at a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. The menu was on a postcard. EVERYTHING had Hatch chile in it. After a few minutes, I couldn't taste anything, there was only heat. The chile overuse ruined what would have been delicious food 😂😂😥

Someone should send you a can of green chiles, then you can put them on a cheeseburger. They're killer that way. You can also melt them in cheese with chopped tomatoes for a tortilla chip dip.
