I think the Try Channel has broken all the Tryers, even the new guys have conquered the hot sauces. Sure there was some redness and hooting, but really very mild for the scoville-levels advertised, so good on you all six of you!

Why is it so funny to watch people in pain from eating spicy chilis? Padraig and Daragh are coughing almost the entire time while Grainne looked like she was conducting an orchestra (11:21) at the end 😆 I also like how Paddy and Grainne decided to color coordinate their outfits for the shoot! The BIG secret to keeping the heat from overwhelming you is to control the spicy food in your mouth and keep it sealed off from the air you're breathing. Once you breathe with your mouth (like many do when they bite something spicy) the air passing over the taste buds somehow causes the fiery tasting chemical reaction in the mouth. Once you bite something spicy, keep it in your mouth and fully breathe thru your nostrils without passing the inhalation over the food directly to minimize the heat. It'll still be spicy. Just not a raging inferno.

I'm questioning my Irishness that I have not once broken into show tunes while eating incredibly hot food like Gráinne did...

I feel for you ALL! I was stationed in Italy for a year. I decided to make Chili from scratch. I bought everything I needed either on the base (Quadra national) or in the local stores. When it came to the chilies, I found a pack of 5 very small chilies. Being not that up on them at the time (and no markings of heat level) I thought they were perfect. Oh BOY!! I made the chili in a crock pot and put in all 5 of the chilies! Cooked it for an entire day. Opened the lid to stir it and the paint on the wall blistered!!! 😲 Decided to put That batch on low And take the biggest pot we had in the barracks and just cook more beans hoping to cut down the heat. ( we could barely stay in the same room with the crockpot! The smell burned you’re eyes and you’re lungs with every breath. Finally the bog pot was ready. I mixed both pots together and prayed it would cut down the heat! No such luck. This was what here in the states I will call 7 alarm chili. 5 was the hottest I ever tasted, but mine was FAR WORSE. 6 of us stayed and ate it. I warned everyone it was hotter than the hinges of a blast furnace, but one Mexican guy I was stationed with said he could eat ANYTHING HOT and it would have 0 effect on him. We all dug in. I had bread and beer at the ready, as I knew it would pass HOT by LIGHT YEARS. OH BOY was I right. It tasted FANTASTIC but about 1-2 min in EVERYONE at the table was shooting flames out of their mouth like a “Dragon”. We were ALL in excruciating PAIN. I asked if I should throw it out? I got a resounding NO it was the best chili any of us had ever had!!! BUT it was hotter than the surface of the sun. As people returned from the chow hall, they started saying the Chile smelled WONDERFUL!!! And we gave about 20 people including a German friend that was stationed at the base with his group, and to our Italian translator. Needless to say for about 30 seconds everyone said it was the best chili they ever tasted. UNTIL the heat hit!!!!! 🥵 Let’s just say the entire barracks had had some, as well as the 2 that weren’t with us there. Everyone was on fire that entire night. HOWEVER the next day the fateful moment arrived. We were watching a movie and they had to change the reel. 5 seconds after the movie stopped around 15 people RAN out of the room headed for the facilities. We had 3 working in one room and 5 in the other. To keep this as G rated as possible, people urgently waiting to get their turn swore they saw steam coming out of every stall. It was so bad that people were going into stalls that didn’t even function. ( we were in Italian barracks rented to us by the Italian Air Force.) 90% of us were on fire!!! Everyone that could speak just kept yelling “ Come on Ice Cream!!!” Worst day of our lives, but we did eat the entity pot!!! Taste 5 Star Heat unknown. Even the people that could eat any pepper (HOT or not) were on fire. But to this day I haven’t found ANY PEPPER HOTTER than those 5 Spanish peppers. Wish I knew what scovil rating they were. But I’ll never know. But I would LOVE to find them again just to see how HOT they really were. So you only ate a few wings. The 6 of us ate 1/2 pot crying and sniffling the entire time. But did we quit NO! We as I said ate 1/2 the pot. The rest for the most part went to anyone that showed up. I thought of this when the guy in Blue turned as red as the guy next to hims red shirt. It was Brilliant! But like I said in the beginning, I feel for you. That chili felt like 15,000,000 scovils. But the best day I ever had. Next day was the worst. It burned just as bad going in as it did coming out. 🥵🥵😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Again best day of my life. The pain was SO WORTH IT!!!
