As a cook myself, I was baffled...sure, cucumber and celery may not be considered savoury, those were hardly the only items within. Even discounting the S&P and salt rim, both Tabasco and mezcal could hardly be considered anything but savoury.

Jungle juice isn’t normally a shot. It’s usually punch. You dump a bunch of different alcohols and juices and then sometimes cut up fruit into the biggest container you can find. You see it at house parties. The only other shot on here I’ve heard of is the duck fart.

Jungle Juice in college is much different than when I was in the Army. Jungle Juice was fresh fruit and Everclear in a large container with industrial packets of Kool Aid to make the taste. :D

We would always make Wop/Wap/Wapatui (Jungls juice) in as large of a container as possble - clean garbage cans, buckets, etc. Typically had everclear added. Was usually whatever booze was handy. Then add kool-aid to taste.

No disrespect to the Captain, but I think they’ve been around longer. If you look it up, it seems the most known story is that a bartender in Alaska was sitting around with some older ladies and they started trying different drinks. They landed on this recipe and Duck Farts were born. It could be the Captain did invent it, I just couldn’t find any info citing him for it.

@@cruzdirector8637 He didn't invent the drink, but started the tradition among the Bering Sea crab fleet. All of the captains would meet up in the bar the night before the season and would drink this for luck.

Justine is one of my top 3 favorite tryers. I was flabbergasted when she said the durian fruit (🤢🤮) wasn’t as bad as that shot. I’ve seen the durian vids with her. She cast the devil on someone for bringing it in. Hayley is hysterical with her commentary. Ie: goose queef. I legit spit my coffee out at that one.

Jungle juice is made in a cooler, with Everclear, or back in the day with Bacardi 151. It was cut with fruit juice, with fruit floating in it. Some of the fancier parties, had cans of whipped cream for the ladies.

So most of these are more like mixed drinks that have had the recipe goofed in such a way that they're only tolerable if it's served as a shot. The Jungle Juice and the Duck Farts could be a very compelling cocktail, though the proportions would have to be looked at.

Mississippi Gulf Coast here & our Old School recipe for Jungle juice was pineapple chunks, cherries, watermelon pieces, apple slices & orange pieces thrown into an igloo cooler with vodka, ever clear, and white rum, enough Hawaiian Fruit Punch koolaid packets & a bit of sugar, til you got the desired color you were hunting for then, & LOTS of ice. If our parents had " fruit juices in the fridge, we would get that too. Let it sit overnight on a Friday then Saturday morning, load it up in the bed of the truck along with the towels, blankets, swiimsuits, a change of closes and the firewood then, head on down to the river, set up on sandbars with our tubes (to float the river), our favorite music & we were all good to go!!!! Miss those days!!!!

Back in the day when I was in college, we used to make this stuff we called "windshield washer fluid." It was a bottle of Blue Maui, a bottle of cheap Vodka, a bottle of Mountain Dew or 7up, or Squirt, whatever was cheap, and then we'd dump in some everclear to really give it a kick. We'd mix that all up in one of those big orange Job site Igloo water coolers...

When we had a party with jungle juice, it was mixed in a new 55 gallon plastic trash can with a plastic trash bag as a liner. Ours included Everclear (95% grain alcohol) as well as the other ones listed here. We also added chunks of fresh fruit. We had a long handled ladle for when it got down toward the bottom. Don't worry about it being food safe. It had enough alcohol content that wasn't an issue. It was basically 'stupid in a cup'. One Solo cup of it was enough unless one didn't actually want to remember the party.

Yay! You guys did the Duck Fart! I suggested it some time last year (others may have too). It’s said to have been “invented” at Coldfoot Camp truck stop in northern Alaska. My mom learned about them when she worked there years ago. You even layered the shots ❤️❤️❤️

LMAO y'all young'uns. Jungle Juice isn't a shot, it was a drink. AND it was done in a brand new, "maybe pre washed" Garbage can. Everyone needed to bring a bottle of whatever Alcohol (not wine or beer) and the "host" added the juices. They also provided disposable plastic big cups, think red solo big cups, and ice. You just put your cup in the mix and drank. Had a bonfire, cranked the music up and "hoped" everyone got home safe. Mostly everyone passed out where ever you were. Usually in a field or if parents left for the weekend then it was the back yard or where ever they could lay down.

Where I'm from in the states, Jungle Juice is not a shot, it's a bowl drink. It's actually really simple. It's Everclear (95%) mixed with Hawiian Pumch or a mix of fruit flavored drinks.

In Sweden there's a drink called U-båt (Submarine) which is a pint of Lager with a shot of Whisky or Vodka dropped into it, there's also a mostly mythical drink called Atomubåt (Nuclear Submarine) which is a pint of hard liquor with a shot of beer dropped into it.
